CHAPTER 78 It Hurts so Much

  Liam's POV

I had finally reached my home. What a relief. The drive back had been nightmarish, I was trying everything I had within me to not fall asleep at the wheel. How stupid of me to reject the kind offer for a ride from the police officers. But I was back now, in one piece and safe.

Entering my home, I expected Nathaniel to be there, keeping an eye out. Celeste would be asleep by now, or at least I hoped she was getting some rest. But my home was empty. A few lights had been left on downstairs, but the place didn't feel lived in. As though it had been empty for a while.

"Nathaniel," I spoke, trying not to shout too loudly in fear I would wake Celeste. I poked my head around the kitchen door, nothing.

"Nathaniel?" I said his name again, exploring my rooms on the ground floor. Still no one around.

Perhaps he had gone to sleep as well. Which wasn't ideal really, I wanted him to be awake and aware in case Savannah had entered my home again.
