CHAPTER 49 Guardian Angel

  Celeste's POV

I was still in and out of consciousness and my thoughts felt like a hazy dream.

My body grew weaker by the minute, and now I struggled to move my limbs. The effort just felt exhausting, I awaited the end now. This was dragging on far too long. I expected nothing less from Evelyn, she was always one to add drama to her flair, and whatever she had done to me felt truly like Evelyn.

If Evelyn wanted my demise she would conjure it up in exactly this manner. A long and slow death which tortured every nerve in my body. Quick and painless didn't scream Evelyn at all, she would want to savour it. A smile played on my lips, Evelyn never got the chance to see my death, in fact I was the one getting the last laugh. I outlived her.

I coughed, choking on the air which struggled in my lungs. My chest burned with each breath now, as though my insides had been set alight and flames seared me from within.

'Winter,' I called for her one last time 'Are you still there?'
