Chapter 31

We were walking when he surprised the hell out of me and grabbed my hand and began holding it, I was so shocked, I almost jerked back but soon felt the tingles so I relaxed. We walked for a couple of minutes before he said anything, " I'm sorry I have to be so serious green eyes, I have to be on alert at all times, plus I have to represent King Titus". I smiled at the thought that he was apologizing for doing his job, " Are you being serious? Hmmm.... This is how you act all the time, what the difference", as I shrugged my shoulders. I know I was being sarcastic, but it was my birthday and we are in town, I wanted to have a little fun so I wanted him to loosen up a little. He tensed up and stopped walking and then faced me, " Are you upset?", as he stared at me.I was just opening my mouth to tell him I was joking when I heard someone calling my name.

Dez's POV

I was standing there staring in the most beautiful pair of eyes waiting on her to answer my question. I hate that I have to be so formal,so I feel really bad. It is her birthday, but her grandfather ordered us to stay out of trouble or we won't be able to see them until we are going back to dragon city. It may be a couple of weeks but to us it will feel like years. I guess once we get to dragon city, I would show her a very good time. Just as she was about to answer, we heard someone call her name. We both turned and looked in the direction of the voice. Alora looked for about 30 seconds at the girl who was running toward her waving her hand. A big grin ran across Aloras face as she finally realized who the girl was, "Suri, is that you?", she screamed. Suri ran up and hugged her and started jumping up and down, " I can't believe you're here, I haven't seen you in forever!". Alora smiled, " It's so good to see you again Suri, I have missed you". I was standing there in the background watching the two friends catch up. It's good to see her smile and laugh like there is no worry in the world. I had a feeling someone was watching their conversation a little too close. I narrowed my eyes and scanned the area when I noticed a hooded figure staring very intensely at them. I walked over to the candy shop across from where he was standing while I pretended to look at the sweets in the window. I turned my heaI turned back around and the figure had disappeared, but I got a good look at him with my dragon eyes, he won't get that far if I see him again. I heard Suri telling Alora she has to go and meet her at the tavern after the sun goes down. Does she really think i would take Alora on that side of town? That is the most rough side of town and I definitely would have to be on guard, but I really don't want to go. I saw Akora walking back over to me with a big smile on her face, " This is where you disappeared to? Do you have a sweet tooth?" I really didn't want to worry her, so I had to play along, " I was just wondering, do you want some sweets?, as I smiled. She looked a little surprised but then she smiled and such a beautiful smile, " Are you trying to spoil me Dez? I know it's my birthday, but I could get used to this". I gave her a smirk while I grabbed her hand, " Stick with me green eyes, you would have everything you ever wanted". We walked in the shop and I bought her just about every sweet thing in the store and had it delivered to the castle. The restaurant where we were to meet Max and Sorsha wasnt that fair and I knew that Alora was hungry so I picked up the pace and still held her hand.

Aloras POV

Once we reached the restaurant we caught up to Sorsha and Max who were cuddled up to a table in the corner. We went to sent down and ordered our food and drinks before we started talking. "Sorsha, guess who I just saw '', as I smiled devilishly. "Is it someone that we haven't seen in a while?", she asked. I nodded my head while my body couldn't stay still because of my excitement. Before she replied I just yelled, " It's Suri, Suri is here! And she wants us to meet her at the tavern on the other side of town". Sorsha smiled from ear to ear, " Really? We haven't seen her and her brother in a long time. We have to go and catch up". I saw Dez tense up and then he let out a sigh, " I know you want to go Alora, but I can't take you to that side of town. Your father and grandfather would skin me alive if anything happened". What the fuck? Why is he acting like this? I understand he's trying to protect me but dam, " Nothing will happen as long as you and Max are here to protect us. I promise we can have a couple of drinks and catch up. I won't cause any trouble....please". I gave him the same look I gave my father when I really wanted something. He stared at me for a moment then looked at Max and Sorsha, " Can you believe she's using that face on me?" as he chuckled. " You will cave in Dez, we all know it", Max said while laughing. I chuckled a little before I glanced over to Dez, he looked like he was contemplating on us going or not. I don't mind being in this part of town but it's too rich for my blood. Everyone looks snobby and gives looks like Cassandra used to. When our food finally came we all started to eat and talk. When we finished our meals the waiters came out with a cake singing happy birthday. The cake was so beautiful, it wasn't the size of a usual cake, it was a little smaller but each of us would receive a piece. Dez cut the pieces and handed them out and as I was about to take my first bite I felt a burning gaze on my face. I turned and looked and seen him staring at me intensely, " What are you starting at, do I have something on my face?", as I rolled my eyes. He just smirked then looked at Max who was stuffing his face while laughing with Sorsha. Sorsha and Max finished first as they sat there waiting on me to finish, I didn't know I was eating that slow. When I finally finished Max and Sorsha got up first to leave, I couldn't believe Dez ignored the fact that I wanted to go to the tavern, I was fuming. When I got up to leave, Dez grabbed my hand and then stood up " Ok Alora, I will take you to the tavern, but we cannot get into or cause any trouble. We also can't stay long or get drunk because we have to be back at the castle in a little while. Ok ?" " Ok, thank you", as I smiled ear to ear.

When the group reached the tavern they walked in as Alora looked around to see if Suri already arrived. She spotted Suri and a guy sitting over in the corner waving at them. They walked over to the table and ordered some drinks and began talking. Little did they know that someone was watching them from the shadows. For the amount of money they paid for the information that Alora and Sorsha would be in town today, they were happy that it paid off. He only needed to snatch them away from those two dragons, he knew this would be difficult. A very attractive woman walked over smiling with two pints in her hand, " Hello handsome, why are you sitting here alone?" She sat on his lap trying to kiss his neck, " I don't have time for this tonight, I need you to do something for me". He whispered something in her ear, pulled out 3 gold coins and gave them to her. She nodded then got up, walked out the door and climbed on her horse. She rode through the forest for a short time until she reached a small camp of ten men and 3 carriages. She got off the horse and walked over to the guy standing by the fire with his hands crossed, " It's time, he said to get into position". The guy nodded then started to climb on his horse, whistled then started to ride away.
