"My king," said the tall man. He was dressed in armor that reflected the sun's rays and could blind anyone. His sword was sheathed, ready to slash any enemy of Stormwind.
"Go Anduin Lothar," said King Adamant. "I order you to find out what kind of monsters are attacking our caravans. Destroy them if necessary."
"Of course, my king," Anduin said.
He rose and walked out of the throne room, waving at his good friend Prince Llane. He only looked at him with concern. It was evident that he wanted to go on a campaign with the soldiers as well, but his father said no. He may be a prince, but he cannot go against the king's ban. And if he does so, he may cause the king's wrath. Who knew that the time when he would become king would come soon.
Anduin walked out to the warriors who were already in the formation and examined them closely. He mentally assessed his capabilities and compared the information received, which indicated that these animals that attack caravans were hazardous and did not go into the conversation. Besides, there are magicians among them ... And this is already frightening. Perhaps he should turn to Medivh for help. Yes, he will.
"Warriors," he thundered. "We're going on a tour. There we will face an enemy unknown to us. Many may not return, but I hope you will hold out and not flinch in the face of danger."
Silent and confident faces gave him an answer. For some reason, Anduin felt that his warriors did not perceive the threat as it was. Shaking his head, he jumped on his steed and waved the soldiers to follow him. The cavalry immediately followed their commander. Each of them inwardly admired their leader. After all, he managed to create conditions for an extremely beneficial alliance between their kingdom and the elves.
***
Flying the griffins was not the most enjoyable experience of my life. The cold wind fiercely beat in the eyes. The animals themselves did not fly evenly. They were constantly shaking from side to side. It was necessary to hold on to the neck's scruff to keep from falling. We flew over a large plain, and then we reached the marshes. On the way, we saw several bands of horsemen moving under the flags of Stormwind. But that was not what interested the magician.
Our griffins descended, and we flew over the completely defeated merchant camp. Goods were strewn about as if mad animals were frolicking here. The corpses also looked impartial. They were torn apart, cut open, and some were burned. We flew a little further, and Medivh raised his hands.
In a second, it lit up with a bluish light, illuminating the surrounding space. As it turned out, below people were fighting with some giant monsters. Screams, groans, and the clash of weapons were heard. We twirled the sharpest bend, examining the surrounding area, checking if there was anyone alive here.
I really don't like this situation. Thick arrows began to fly from the ground. Medivh spun his griffin sharply, dodging the hit. I tried to repeat something the same, but it turned out to be impossible. The arrow hit the wing of the griffin that was carrying me. He screamed in pain and began to quickly fall down. I started to get ready for a hard landing.
Having surrounded ourselves and the griffin with a spell, we landed on the ground, knocking down several trees. We hit with a ground, and I was thrown out of the saddle. Rolling on the ground, I pressed quite hard on the protruding stones and tree roots.
I staggered to my feet. The griffin groaned and screamed in pain in the wounded wing. I slowly walked up to him and was already preparing to treat him. I am not happy to hear these screams of pain. After mentally spitting on my hands, I slowly began to extract an arrow from his body. I wrapped it in magical energy and gently pulled it out. The griffin screamed even more in pain and knocked me off my feet with a lash of its tail.
Rising again, I felt my ribs ache, as did the entire front half of my torso. Not very nice. Crouching, I pulled out the regeneration potion and drank it. Even if I do not feel that something is broken with me, it's better to stay safe then sorry. Almost instantly, I felt a warmth that spread over my body, squeezing out pain and discomfort.
Suddenly I heard a fuss. It alerted me, and I ducked. The griffin, as if he understood something too, shut up. So ... Barking voices were heard from all sides, which spoke in an unfamiliar language, which sounded guttural and rude to ears. They are definitely looking for me. How unpleasant it all is. It seems that these monsters noticed a falling griffin with a man on it and now they are searching. Heck.
Mentally calming down, I began to prepare for a fight. Let's hope that the bursts of spells will attract the attention of Medivh or other sentient beings, and they will come to my aid. But let's hope it won't be needed, and there are no magicians on an enemy side.
A crunch was heard behind me - either a branch cracked, or someone's foot in a heavy boot fell into a hole covered with dry foliage. Whatever it is, it is already close. The griffin screamed, and I spun around to stare at the giant monster. It was a black and green caricature of a man. Orc!
The orc wore dark, leather armor. In one hand he held a torch, which illuminated the darkness around him, thereby highlighting the monstrous face. It was very frightening. Excessively massive jaws with protruding fangs were striking. The rest of the features were small but menacing. In addition, he had a small spear in his hand with carved symbols that I do not understand. Moving the torch to the side, he highlighted his ears, which were elongated and somewhat resembled human ... Stop ... These are human ears, attached to the head with a particular thread.
The orc growled and aimed his spear in my direction. He smelled like some kind of dog, as well as blood, sweat, and other not very pleasant smells. I almost choked on his scent. The monster was already preparing to hit me with its spear, but I was faster.
A very powerful magical blow struck him into a tree and knocked both to the ground. I threw another fireball there without thinking twice, which made the orc's body glow like a torch. There were shouts and roars. They surround me. Pulling out my Sound Resonance ring, I prepared to defend myself.
The rest of the orcs emerged from the shadows. They were all different. Someone was a giant with a large club stained with blood. Someone was smaller and wielded large axes. But there was only one thing that united them all—dark green, almost clay-colored skin, as well as a protruding lower jaw with massive canine teeth. I cannot escape, as these creatures know the area better. They'll catch me in no time. Besides, I don't want to leave the griffin here. I didn't want to leave him, not only because I didn't want him dead, but also because of the money that he was worth.
There were quite a few orcs. This, of course, was not a whole Horde, but only the avant-garde. But if they are already here, says that the first invasion I heard about in my previous life is about to begin. The attacking monsters looked at me with bloody eyes. Each of them possessed some kind of trophies. Whether it's fingers or ears, or just the scalps of the dead.
"Gra!" growled one of the orcs and lunged at me, swinging his big ax. The ax was covered in blood, which was probably already drying up. Without thinking twice, I launched a flash of chain lightning at him, and he fell to the ground being now a burnt corpse.
"Just try it," I said coldly, lighting a few more spells in my hand. -"Take just a step, and I will destroy you."
But the orcs were aggressive and did not perceive reality adequately at all. For them, I was only a dangerous prey, after killing which they can get some honors. They are animals, even if they have intelligence.
My words had no effect on the orcs. With a metal helmet on his head, the largest of them, from which blood was still dripping, took a step forward. It seems that he is one of the main ones here. His bloody eyes looked at me, and they alone could read the desire to destroy me, tear me apart, tear off my head, and put me on his rack."
"Do you want to die?" I asked calmly.
"Gr-a-r!" He roared and shouted something in his own language. He raised his spiked stick and threw himself at me. Throwing my spear back, I clapped my hands, and then a powerful elemental spell knocked the orc off his feet. One more swing and I muttered a spell. A second later, the orc was cut into many small pieces.
"That's it," I said, looking closely at these creatures. "Get out!"
A spear flew at me, but I deflected it with ease with a stream of air. It crashed into the ground, plunging several tens of centimeters into the ground.
"Grua-ha-ha," came a somewhat cackling laugh. He was quite shrill and intimidating. The ranks of the green-skinned orcs parted to let another ugly orc pass ahead. He walked with a staff with various skulls on it. This orc was thin, hunched over, and dressed in a dark red robe. The creature's face was as green and shapeless as the others, but there was a gleam of cruel intent in his eyes.
He took another step forward and then drew his dagger. I prepared myself. But then something happened that I didn't really like. The orc jabbed his hand with a dagger, and blood dripped onto the ground. He barked something on his guttural tongue, and the blood began to glow with green fire.
"Does the human wants to play?" The orc asked in a disgusting voice. The flame swirled around his palm, preparing to turn into any spell.
Frowning, I prepared for battle. Having mentally checked my reserve, I realized with pleasure that I still had enough energy. So I will fight if need be.
"Go away or die," I told him. Lightning flashed in my hand. I won't say it was easy to hold this spell. It, like a snake, wriggled around, spraying sparks and making roaring sounds.
"Let's play," said the orc. His eyes lit up with a slight greenish light.
The next second, a greenish arrow flew at me. I also released my spell in response. Halfway they met and exploded, spreading light and energy in all directions. This was not a problem for me, since I already know about this effect when two offensive spells collide. In a second, I deliver a powerful magical blow that knocks the orc back. But he, in a strange way, managed to keep himself from falling. He somehow slumped and got straight to his feet. The next second I had to retreat.
"Good game," said the orc and banged his staff, "But I'm better at it than you!"
There were shouts from the common orcs. Turning there, we saw that several of them were engulfed in flames. In the next second, three more fell to the ground with their heads ripped apart. Medivh appeared in their place. He looked very calm and confident. But then he turned his gaze to the orcs, and an eerie smile spread across his face.
"My apprentice ordered you to leave," Medivh growled. "You should have obeyed his orders! But, you refused ... How shameful."
Then one of the orcs roared and lunged at Medivh. The next second, he crashed into an invisible wall. Medivh only glanced, and the orc fell to the ground like a corpse with his head blown off. His blood began to drip slowly to the ground.
The orcs began to retreat until they completely disappeared into the night. Only their magician continued to stand here, carefully examining us. His eyes narrowed as if in recognition.
"Notgreen knows you, man," Ocr said. "You, you are the same ... A-ah!"
The orc did not have time to finish. Medivh waved his hand very quickly, and this mage was blown away by a stream of fire and air. It appears that this Notgreen did not survive this attack. Okay, one less monster. Although this does not play a significant role ... The most dangerous monster stands beside me and hides under the guise of the Guardian.
"How are you, boy?" He asked me when everything was quiet.
"Not bad," I told him. - It could be worse.
Medivh walked over and looked me straight in the eye. I sensed power in Medivh, but you know, I even somehow got used to it.
"You did well," said the magician. "I'll think about getting involved more in your training. Rest now; the worst is over."
"Thank you," I told him. I turned away from the corpses and the magician and headed towards the griffin. He tried to get up, but his legs gave way. It looks like the arrow that hit him was poisoned. And I have no antidote. But I will try to cure him. Several spells escaped my hand. But they didn't help. It looks like this is the end for him.
Before I even had time to think of my thought, a greenish wave began to separate from the griffin's wing, which turned the living griffin into a skeleton. The last look of this animal was farewell. It seems that he realized that he was dying. Other than that, I was able to consider a little gratitude for even trying to save him.
Another second and instead of a body, there remains a skeleton with a burning yellow-green flame on the bones. But this flame was then extinguished, leaving a corpse behind. After exhaling, I stood for a while. Medivh came up to me.
"This magic," he whispered softly. "I've already met this one."
"What is it?" I asked him. Terrifying magic that can scare anyone.
"This is Dark Magic, the energy for which is taken from the Twisting Nether. Horrible power."
"Then that monster ..."
"Orc," Medivh interrupted. "It was an orc.
"Was that orc a dark magician then?" I asked him. Of course, the answer is already known to me, but I do not have the opportunity to legend my own knowledge. So you just have to wait while Medivh slowly tells me something interesting.
"Not just a dark wizard," Medivh said. "He was a warlock. And if I hadn't intervened, your battle could have gone entirely differently. He was already preparing to summon a demon subordinate to him."
"Is he also a demonologist?" I asked him. If the orcs summon demons during this war, then Azeroth will have a very hard time. I would like to get the power, close this portal, and let them die on their dying world and not bring blood and death here. But oh well, what can I do now? Nothing.
"Looks like that," Medivh nodded. "Come on, my student."
I nodded my head and followed Medivh, realizing that he had finally accepted me as his disciple. This means that I can now receive exactly the training that I needed so badly. During these two years in the real world, I have not advanced further, except that I learned a powerful Magic Impact.
We approached the soldiers who were examining the bodies. Along with them was another person who gave instructions. Medivh approached him without hesitation, and they began to talk about something. The warriors looked at me closely, and I looked at them in response. It was evident that they had only recently gone through heavy battles. But they also understand that there are still dangerous skirmishes ahead of them, and therefore no one relaxed.
"Disciple," Medivh called me to him. I walked over and stared at a tall, bearded man with a straight nose. His gaze was confident and firm. But there was also no hint of superiority in it. Although, yes, about what ... Such an attitude towards magicians can cost a lot in the future. "Let me introduce you to Anduin Lothar."
I nodded my head and waited for Medivh to introduce me to the future legend of Azeroth.
"Lothar, this is my apprentice, Alistar," Medivh said and put his hand on my shoulder.
Anduin Lothar extended his hand to me to shake hands. I answered him, shaking it back with confidence. The knight smiled and said:
"Well, finally, someone has appeared who has managed to pass your test," he said in a calm tenor. I looked at the magician with a slight surprise, but he quickly looked away. "Medivh, my friend, have you told him anything?" Wow.
"Well, get acquainted," said Medivh and quickly went to a small group of warriors, which stood over the defeated body of the orc. They carefully studied him, sometimes poking weapons at him.
"How long have you been with him?" Lothar asked me as he dismounted.
"I learned from the servant that I came to him two years ago," I told him. "So, it turns out, I was his assistant for two years. And then he only recently started calling me a student."
"Hmm," Lothar chuckled. "You know, many people wanted to pass the test of Medivh, but each of them failed. I can tell you more about him if you're interested."
"Of course I am interested," I said. Lothar only nodded his head, as if in agreement.
"This is a test of purity of thought, purity of mind, and purity of heart," said Lothar. "I do not know what this test is and how it goes, but I want to congratulate you ... "
"Thank you," I nodded to him.
"And you, I see, are different from the other mages of Dalaran," said Lothar. "No courtesy or respect."
"Excuse me?" I asked with a frown. Was it an insult or not?
But Lothar did not answer, but only jumped on his horse and galloped off to the soldiers who were slowly approaching. He is a strange man. Did he really not like the fact that I did not address him as a lord? Or was it something else he didn't like? I do not understand. Okay, I will not baptize children with him, so if he doesn't like me, then hell with him.
"I see that you don't get along with him," Medivh said. "It's a pity."
The magician nodded his head and then spoke loudly:
"Hey Lothar, what are your next steps?"
"Let's hunt these creatures," he replied and drew his sword. "Let's try to cut them all and find the source of the infection."
"Good luck," Medivh nodded.
Lothar turned with his men and quickly galloped towards the swamp, starting to go deeper into it.
"Isn't that stupid?" I asked Medivh. "They'll just die there. These men should definitely be prepared for such a development of events."
"We will cover them," Medivh said. "But since your griffin is dead, we'll have to use mine. Are you ready?
"Of course," I told him.
Medivh whistled, and his griffin flew very quickly. Climbing on top of it, I saw Medivh begin to conjure something very quickly. He whispered spells that I had never seen before. In the next second, the griffin started to swell a little. It was a strange feeling. His muscles became more massive, but at the same time, I was sure that he could hold us with ease.
We got up. I grabbed the mage to keep from falling out of the saddle. The griffin began to very quickly catch up with Lothar's squad. As it turned out, they were stuck. Their cavalry could not move quickly through the swamp, as their hooves sank into swampy puddles. In general, the pursuit of the marching orcs turned out to be a disastrous business. You know, if there is a portal somewhere that leads to another world from which the orcs will appear, then it is better to send scouts there so that they can estimate the approximate number of enemies.
"This is stupid!" I shouted again, "Why is Lothar pushing forward so hard?"
Medivh nodded and swooped down sharply, stopping beside Lothar, who was trying to haul out his stuck horse. He twisted his head and continued to stamp in place, sinking a little deeper and deeper. The magician waved his hand, and the horse flew out of the trap abruptly. He rolled through the air and landed on a small piece of ground that looked more or less stable.
"It looks like you shouldn't go here," Medivh told Lothar. "It will only be a waste of time."
"I think so too," the knight nodded. "I already thought about it. Tell me, Medivh, can you feel at least an approximate direction, where are they?"
The magician closed his eyes and tried to tune in to something. Long minutes passed. I just sat on the griffin and looked around, trying to notice at least some danger. But there was nothing around. Anyway. The night slowly came into its own. I don't know what is so legendary about Lothar if he was going to lead his people through a dangerous swamp that should be swarming with orcs in the middle of the night. This is, as for me, stupid. Although, maybe I don't understand something ...
"No," the magician nodded his head. "I can't find them."
He looked somewhat tired after his search. Only I listened to him and did not feel any hesitation. It was weird. Either Medivh is playing with is right now, or he was really used by some search methods that were inaccessible to me. I am leaning towards the first option. But come on, while I don't want to get involved in these matters. I need more knowledge and information to get out of it.
Medivh helped Lothar and his group to leave the swamps. And we ourselves went back to his tower. After that, the hellish days began for me. If I used to think that I was doing a lot, then I was deeply mistaken.
The Guardian turned into a true demon, and all day long, he did nothing but chase me. When I no longer had the strength, he forced me to exercise, dragging stones from the very bottom of the tower to the observatory, and then down. Sometimes Medivh disappeared, he allowed me to read books from the library, which became completely open to me. All the books became available to me. It seems that Medivh is in a kind of semi-trance all the time and gives out more and more load. Knowledge poured over me like water in a waterfall. At some moments, it even began to seem to me that I would choke on it. But nothing like that happened.
The changing reality in the tower was my salvation. In some places, as it turned out, time runs a little differently. I asked Medivh why it was so during one of the breakfasts.
"When you told me about your vision, and also that Morows said that this happened a lot here," Medivh said, sipping from his glass. "In general, he was right. That this tower is a gathering place for energy should not surprise you. Mages generally gravitate towards such sites. Such places are found where the matter of the universe becomes thinner due to which folds can form. Sometimes, this allows one to enter the Lower Stream, and from there into completely different worlds."
The Lower Stream is the so-called magic stream that binds Azeroth's magical space to the surrounding outer area. I learned this when I was studying with Antonidas. And it was all from those personal book collections.
"Hmm," I said, washing down the porridge with water. I didn't want to drink wine.
"There are places with strong energy, which become the focus of great power for one reason or another. One of these places is located in the mountains of the Red Ridge. Once upon a time, something with incredible power exploded here, as a result of which this valley was formed. The reality surrounding it was weakened," said Medivh, and pulled to himself a small model of the valley.
"Is that why you settled here?" I asked him. I really wondered why Medivh chose this valley as his residence. Although yes, I felt the surrounding energy and the memories of what I saw as soon as I arrived here was strong in me.
"You could say that," Medivh replied, shaking his head. "But this is if you look at events in a linear sequence."
"Linear?" I asked the magician. "Can events happen nonlinearly?"
"What if the explosion occurred because I had to come here in the end and this place had to be ready for my arrival?" said Medivh with a strange expression on his face. "Maybe the explosion will just happen in the future?"
"But, if an explosion only had to occur, then why did this valley appear here?" I asked a question. "And does it have any connection with the fact that time in some parts of the tower runs differently?"
"Yes and no," Medivh said. "In the ordinary world, without magic, nothing like this can happen. You need to understand that magic is not just a science. It is the art of getting away from the ordinary."
Medivh was silent for a few minutes, thinking. And to be honest, this conversation also gave me some food for thought. Magic is the art of getting away from the normal. Somehow I didn't look at it that way. For me, it has already managed to become a part of everyday reality. Magic has ceased to be that amazing beauty that appeared to me at the very beginning. Could it be that my very approach to magic has become wrong over time?
"You know that without a source and reservoir, there can be no magician?" he asked me Medivh. "What if I told you it's not true?"
He said it in a calm voice. The way he never spoke. I felt something so terrible in him ... Fear and fear for my own life began to rise slowly in my soul, forcing me to look around and think how to get out of here as quickly as possible.
"Can you do magic without energy?" I asked.
"Of course, apprentice," said Medivh, looking at me with eyes in which a yellow-greenish fire burned. Swallowing, I prepared, but what happened next will remain in my memory for a long time.
Medivh dissolved into space, leaving behind some strange curvatures of space. I was just starting to prepare a spell for my own protection when I felt a warm hand on my head. In the next instant, all the magic in me vanished. I lost my sense of energy, my source, and the reservoir.
From this, darkness fell on me, and I just passed out. During my sleep, I hovered in the surrounding blackness around, unable to even move forward. I couldn't do anything but think. Did Medivh really rob me of my magic? And what should I do next? This also puts a complete cross on my future life. No, I will try to survive, I will fight for my life, so what if it will be without magic?
Having mentally calmed myself, I tried to figure out what to do and how to proceed. What did Medivh say there? Can you create magic without energy? For some reason, it seems to me that our entire conversation had some hidden meaning. I must understand it and think about how to proceed. If nothing comes to mind, then it is worth starting to meditate.
Closing my eyes, I tried to immerse myself in meditation. There was complete silence all around. I saw nothing, heard no one, and felt nothing. Only light flashes inside my mind spoke of something. In my mind, I tried to follow these flashes and understand at least something, but nothing worked for me. As soon as I wanted to follow this flash, it instantly disappeared. Attempts to grab it failed at the very beginning of this stage. What I just did not do, and nothing worked for me.
But I kept trying. It seems to me that there should be a solution to my condition. As people say, all doors will open for a persistent man. So we must continue. I tried and tried. Until in an instant, I had the result. It was somewhat not what I expected.
I was unable to grab hold of these flashes. I couldn't even follow them. No. I felt small stars that continue to burn on my belt. This realization was so amazing that I even for a moment, came out of this meditative state.
Exactly! I also have crystals that I got in the Cave of Illusion. In addition, I remember well the illusions that I saw there. They made a deep impression on me. Compared to the power I felt there, even Medivh would be weak. But back to my goal. These crystals have enormous reserves of energy. It's good that I didn't waste it thoughtlessly on experiments. Perhaps they can help me somehow.
Immersed in meditation, I began to tune in again. This time, the whole process took much less time and effort. I felt those stars almost immediately. In my mind, I touched them and felt how they began to vibrate, like moths from a gentle breeze. What should I do next? Maybe I should absorb them? I do not know…
Having brought these stars closer in my mind, I began to carefully examine them. They pulsed and emitted small portions of strange energy into the surrounding space. Should I absorb them or not. Although how can I absorb them ... Only if I put them in my mouth and swallow them.
I won't think about it for long. Exhaling mentally, I opened my mouth and quickly shoved my first star into it. In an instant, I felt the reality shake around me. I felt myself being pulled to the side and then somewhere forward. Opening my eyes, I looked at my hands and closed my eyes again in horror. All my hands change. Vegetation appeared on them, then disappeared somewhere. Then streams of water flowed from it, which slowly swirled into figures of strange shapes. The sounds around me were also frightening and somehow psychedelic. The drums started playing, immediately after them the violin played, and it all mixed into an unpleasant cacophony of sounds.
"No," I said to myself. "No, no. Do not lose it to a dream."
For a second, I felt scared and then hot. Then a wave of pleasure washed away all these sensations, leaving behind a cold desert, on which strange, crazy smiles appeared.
And then ... everything disappeared.
There was darkness around me again. It was empty and cold. You know, I was even glad that I was back to normal. The star that I absorbed turned out to be a powerful drug. I don't know if it helped me or not. Closing my eyes, I woke up again in that strange state. The outbreaks that occurred around me became more extensive and more intense. I do not understand what flashes are ... Mentally reaching for one, I felt how a strange, warm, and so familiar whirlpool gripped me.
The flash moved through strange spaces that were continually changing, moving from one state to another. It was an amazingly beautiful sight. In addition, I felt a kinship to all these changes. After a while, we swam to a small crystal that hung in the middle of empty space and glowed dimly. For a second, I felt pity and tenderness. As if he were a small child who had just rolled over from his back to his stomach.
As I swam closer, I felt that the crystal was hungry. He needed food. The exchange of this information was rapid but so clear to me. The crystal needed the stars that I had for food. Without thinking twice, I pulled them out and slowly fed them in turns, from the weakest to the strongest. It seemed to me that the crystal was full, and then slowly sank into sleep. In a second, I was vomited from this place, and I opened my eyes.
Medivh looked at me, intently. Small bags could be seen under his eyes, which indicated that he had not slept for a long time. As soon as I moved, he approached me and carefully scanned me.
"How do you feel, my student?" he asked me after the examination.
"I feel like a bag of shit," I replied. I wanted to speak dirtier words, but I controlled myself. I do not feel a drop of magical energy in me. A wave of longing swept over me, then slowly began to turn into despair.
"Not worth it," Medivh said. "Now we're going to do real learning that only a few sentients in this world know about.
"Hmm?" I asked him. That's right, I shouldn't give up. Suppose I cannot overcome this difficulty and regain my magic. What else can I hope from Medivh in the path of comprehending power? "Okay, teacher."
"Then get up," Medivh said, and banged his staff on my bed. "Enough rest."
I rose slowly, continuing to feel weak throughout my body. Medivh is right. No matter how demonic he is, I need to keep pressing and pulling knowledge from him that cannot be obtained in Dalaran. I do not want to get involved with demons, but I will have to give up my unwillingness if it is necessary to gain knowledge. It actually looks like the real demon inside Medivh is still asleep.
We walked slowly up the tower and began to go down. You know the loss of magic opened my eyes somewhat. It was only now that I began to notice strange things. For example, water that drips not down, but up, or grains of sand that slowly fly out of nowhere and disappear somewhere. Shadows that come out of the walls and other incomprehensible things. Before, I was aware of all this with my magical sensation and did not pay special attention. And now ... it was as if the veil that covered my eyes was removed from me.
"Tell me, now you see everything around?" I asked Medivh when we stopped.
"Yes," I answered him. "I see things that I have never paid attention to before."
"That's good," Medivh nodded. "Come on."
We began to slowly descend, and very soon, we were outside. Medivh entered the wall and simply disappeared. I froze. Do I really need to go to this wall too? Looking around, I saw Morose, who was looking at me intently. He caught my gaze and nodded his head approvingly. Exhaling, I took a step forward. The skin tingled for a second from the cold.
Medivh was waiting for me on the steps and then nodded his head, urging me to follow him. We began to descend into the ground. I would never have thought that there are still underground levels in this tower. Amazing.
We stopped at a small parapet that blocked the passage into a large abyss. At the bottom of the abyss, there was a whole river of lava, which emitted energy clouds. This time, I felt this energy somehow strange. She just washed my being, leaving behind a small imprint. The fire energy was scorching hot, but for me ... For me, it was just a breeze.
"Remember these sensations," Medivh said, then slammed his staff on the ground. A purple wave of energy spread in all directions, and then it was reflected from the walls. They lit up with numerous crystals, which were the same as in the Caverns of Illusion. The reflected wave has reached us. Medivh closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. I repeated after him.
The sensations that I had were simply indescribable. It seemed to me that my body began to sparkle. The skin was covered with a strange energy that passed through the pores, allowing you to feel the crystal that I saw during my sleep. He woke up and happily began to absorb the energy given to him. This somehow influenced him, and he began to grow. A little, but a little increased.
"What you experience now is your soul," Medivh said with a small smile on his face.
Wow, that is the 10th chapter already. More than 50k words are down! That is awesome!
