Alexander didn't have many good experiences with humans. It was enough to create some sort of bias toward them. But he didn't hate them all as well.
Hans convinced Alexander to go to the village after a while. Hans was looking at everything with curiosity, he was excited to meet humans for the first time.
Hans was a weird vampire, he always had some kind of fascination with humans. He read a lot of books about them and written by them. For him meeting a human was way more than finding food.
"We will only stay for a few minutes, I don't know what you want to do but be fast"
Hans rushed to talk with the villagers while Alexander waited at the village's border.
He waited for half an hour and Hans still didn't come back so he decided to go looking for him.
It wasn't a big village, Alexander counted a total of forty houses. He saw a few children running around and some people relaxing in front of their houses. It looked like a really peaceful village to be in such a place.
They weirdly didn't bother with his presence as well.
He finally found Hans, who was talking to some children in the middle of the village. They couldn't understand what Hans said and neither could he, but they got along well with only hand signs.
"Hans, we have to go"
Hans's face became grim as he heard Alexander. He was really happy to get to know so much about these people in such a short amount of time.
"We really have to report this village? There are people living here. They will all die if we do"
"They will, but they are humans and this place will soon become part of the kingdom's territory. We reporting or not, vampires will come here sooner or later"
Alexander understood that Hans saw humans in a different way than the other vampires. But so what? What he cared about didn't matter in this situation.
Hans gritted his teeth as he comprehended the meaning behind Alexander's words. Hans became really sad. Deep inside he still had some hope to save these people.
"You know, I met the village's chief as well. He told me a lot about the village and its customs. Everything here is so weird but fascinating. They believe in some things they call gods. They pray and make offerings every single day to these beings but they don't even have proof they exist. And... And there is so much more I still don't know..."
"Lovely, but we have to go. We already spent too much time here"
"Wait! The chief said he can cure Vicky. There have been villagers with the same mark as her on the neck and they were cured here"
"... Fine, we can talk about it with Ren"
Alexander didn't give time for Hans to refuse and walked away. The children tried to follow them but Hans convinced them to stay with the few words he learned.
Then he reluctantly left with Alexander.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twenty minutes ago, at the river.
Ren and the rest were walking while following the river down the mountain.
"I don't think there is any village this way. We should try the other one, maybe Alan has already found it" Said Mark.
"I agree" Leny was tired of walking for such a long time.
"Let's go back then"
They all agreed to go back but before they could even turn around, the floor at their feet suddenly trembled and collapsed. They could barely balance themselves as they fell into a hole.
"FUCK!" Mark screamed as he hugged Vicky's body to protect her from the fall.
Ren made sure to protect Anne as well.
They fell, but the hole wasn't totally straight, it had curves making them hit the wall a lot.
Leny was the first one to recover his balance and tried to stop the falling, but it was already too late.
*BOOM!*
They hit the ground and dust raised.
Leny took a while to recover. Then he got up to check on everyone.
*Cough*Cough*Cough*
He waved his hand around the dust looking for the others.
"Is everyone okay?"
"We are fine" Ren said while getting up with Anne.
Mark got up with Vicky in his arms as he checked if she had any injuries. He felt Vicky waking up, probably because of the fall's impact.
"Where are we?" She asked.
"We just fell into a cave, but it's fine, don't worry"
Vicky realized how much she was clinging to Mark's body and quickly tried to get up from his arms. Unfortunately, her body was still weak and she fell on his body again.
"Are you an idiot? Don't move if you are sick"
She wanted to get mad at him but she couldn't. Now that she was awake, Mark grabbed one of the blood flasks they brought and gave it to her.
She looked to the side, embarrassed by her actions but still accepted the blood. After drinking, she felt way better but she was still sick. Drinking a few more flasks, she could stand on her own again.
"Thanks"
He only nodded his head with a serious face.
"We need to get out, I have a bad feeling about this" Ren said while looking at the hole they fell from.
The hole didn't look natural at all, someone dug it and it wasn't a long time ago.
Soon enough, they heard the sound of something coming toward them. They felt the earth shaking and saw hundreds of little monsters approaching from a tunnel on the other side of the cave.
They were fairies and they made a lot of noise as they ran madly in a huge wave of their own kind.
Ren, Mark, and Leny stood in front of the girls and took out their swords. They were sweating since they never faced something like this before.
They could fight lever 2 and even level 3 monsters but never in such a quantity. They prepared their blood flasks and Anna was prepared to heal them if needed.
"I wanted to at least drink something right now. Sake would go down nice right now" Said Ren.
"I know how you feel" Leny nodded his head.
"I need something to drink as well" Mark approved the idea.
When the fairies got close enough, Mark was the first one to swing his sword and kill a fairy.
"HAAAAA!!" He screamed and shouted with all his strength.
