Descent

"Ah. Am I dying?"

Yaku struggled to lift his hands as he felt his body quickly turning cold because of his rapid bleeding. Due to an accident, Yaku was hit by a truck. He was simply unlucky.

Sighing in emotion, Yaku slowly surrendered to the overpowering sensation that was rapidly eating away at his consciousness. He felt frustrated but he knew that he couldn't do anything about it.

'Might as well die as quick as possible.'

"…is what I thought."

Yaku wryly smiled, his gaze lingering on the white-haired old man who sat across him. They were separated by a simple wooden table and a few cups of fragrant tea.

Their surroundings were pure white, no signs of any influence from anything. It was a magical space that Yaku had envisioned to be the 'void' where nothing exists. And now, he was sitting before the master of this magical space.

The old man sipped on a cup of tea before he smiled at Yaku who was obviously having trouble making a decision, "Have you made your decision, young man? You shouldn't hesitate so much. You should understand very well that you have died. There was nothing to be so suspicious about. You're troubling me here…"

"But…" Yaku tried to refute the old man's claims, but his memories told him facts about his death. That cold and terrifying sensation as the darkness slowly devoured your body… It was so scary that Yaku knew it had to be real.

The old man continued to smile before he continued, "This is mandatory to everyone who had passed away from Earth. It is hard to explain but the plane where Earth stays is a higher-dimension plane. People like you possess the capabilities to recreate a new world to your own liking, however, the condition is that you will have to completely detach yourself from your old world."

"…which means that I will never be able to go back to Earth." Yaku had a complicated look in his eyes as he knew that this offer would give him a new life, but it was all too sudden and complex that he couldn't help but feel suspicious about everything.

"You will be able to grant yourself three wishes before fully reincarnating to the world of your choosing. You can choose a world that currently exists on the multiverse or a fictional one. Your soul can sustain the world anyways, even if you die which I highly think won't happen, your soul will merge with the world and sustain it for eternity."

It was an inevitable result and Yaku knew that he didn't have any choice in the first place. The old man could probably kill or torture him without any difficulty. Everything was too suspicious and too good to be true that Yaku still had a hard time believing it.

"Things aren't supposed to go like this…" Yaku muttered to himself.

"True. I was shocked as well when I experienced it myself." The old man touched his beard with a nostalgic look within his eyes. He was recalling a distant past.

"You experienced it as well?!" Yaku's eyes widened before he continued, "…then that means, you were also from Earth before your death?"

The old man nodded before he explained, "As I said, Earth is from a higher-dimension plane, actually the 'highest' dimensional plane. Our souls are powerful enough to create 'lower' dimensional plane. However, you can also choose to become an overseer like me. But I don't think you would like that to happen."

'This old man is right. You can't expect me to spend thousands of years just to assist other Earthlings who would most probably choose to go to their place of choosing…' Yaku said to himself before a deep sigh escaped his mouth.

"…but I could choose to become an overseer afterwards I get bored of the world?" Yaku thought before he asked the old man with long white beard. Yaku was starting to believe the complex situation he was involved in after his 'passing'.

"You can but you would have to use one of your three wishes now and 'allow' yourself to become an overseer after a certain amount of time." The old man nodded in unhurriedly answered Yaku's query about the whole overseer thing.

In simple words, the overseers are those who chose to spend their time assisting Earthlings. They are very powerful and could use the powers they gained from wishing but they couldn't interfere with the reality of any world in the multiverse.

'Basically, once you become an overseer, all you will have is a lofty title and a boring life…' Yaku can't help but cry inwardly as he felt like the choices were geared so that everyone would choose to go to their world of choosing instead of becoming an overseer.

'You know what, let's just stop caring about whether there's something in play in this whole complex dump of ridiculousness. Let's just quickly make a decision and get over it.' Yaku stopped thinking too deeply about every matter.

"Oh, have you made your decision?" The old man relaxed back on his chair as he whirled his cup of tea in boredom. He was thinking of what he should eat after this meeting between him and Yaku.

"Yes. I'll recreate the Against the Gods universe. It was a Chinese novel I read back in the day." Yaku nodded before he inwardly thought, 'Though, I dropped it around a thousand chapters…'

"Mhm. Have you decided on your three wishes?" The old man looked interested and was thinking of using his powers to get a copy of the said book. After all, it was the blueprint for the world that Yaku was planning to choose.

"Only the first one though. Can I keep the other two?" Yaku touched his chin as his first wish pretty much gave him everything he could ask for in this reincarnation he would soon experience.

"No. But you could use one wish to wish your last wish to remain after the reincarnation." The old man spoke casually as if he had answered the same question a thousand of times already.

"Then I would do that." Yaku nodded before he slowly stood up, "Then thank you for assisting me, old man. Although everything seems a little weird, I can't really complain as it was a very good opportunity."

"Don't call me old man. There's a possibility that you might be an overseer after you get bored. Remember my name, Astaroth." The old man smiled before he continued, "What are you currently feeling?"

"Very anxious but excited. This might not be called reincarnation but a deity's descent instead." Yaku smiled with a tinge of happiness and excitement in his voice. He continued, "Then, I'll call you Old Astaroth. May we meet next time."

"May we meet next time, Yaku." The old man smiled before he and his 'void' vanished from Yaku's eyes. Everything was silent, only Yaku stood in the empty space on unknown location. However, he did not feel anxious but inherent calmness.

Closing his eyes, Yaku began to feel out the 'power' he had gained after his death. It was the power to feel the world he would create and grant himself three absolute wishes.

First, Yaku felt a sense of connection with a distant place. It looked like a black ball before it zoomed in, allowing Yaku to sense the location where he would reincarnate in.

The black ball zoomed and showed a multiverse, soon it showed a blue planet that was slowly moving in a fixed rotation because of the influence from the other planets.

The Blue Pole Star.

It was the location where the beginning of the Against the Gods took place in. Yaku had chosen to enter this world six months before the start of the story.

As he had already established the connection between himself and the world of his choosing, Yaku began to envision the two wishes he would grant to himself.

Wish 1: Omnipotence

Wish 2: Make the last wish effective after the transmigration.

The power to do anything. Yaku felt it very clear. If cultivators were trying to reach the end of the Dao, Yaku would be the one waiting for them in the finish line.

In the moment that Yaku gained the power to do anything, he could choose to become omniscience and omnipresent, but he knew that one of the latter would make his life boring. He would love to enjoy this 'opportunity' that he had gotten after passing away.

Yaku closed his eyes and felt the entire world at his fingertips. A single word formed in his mind. With a power that commanded everything, "Descend."
