He heard the door to his office open and then the distinct clicking of Kate's high heels coming down the stairs.
"Hey, lover. You do remember there's a party going on upstairs, don't you?"
"Of course. I just got caught up in the paperwork for the Old Haunt."
Kate walked over and raised an eyebrow. "Wait! You're caught up in paperwork? Who are you and what have you done with my husband?"
"It's me, don't worry. I'll be done in a minute. Why don't you go back upstairs and have some fun. I'll be up in a minute."
She shook her head. "No way. I'll stay right here for that minute and then I'll drag you away,"
He chuckled. "I remember when I had to drag you away from Josh to get you to come here."
Suddenly, Kate was in his lap, kissing him, pushing her tongue into his mouth and rubbing her boobs against his chest. They finally broke the kiss. "I should never have been with Josh. Never."
"Sorry." He whispered. "We agreed we'd never mention all the things we did wrong that kept us apart for so long. Ninety nine percent of which were my fault."
"They were not!" She said. "Everything was my fault. Me and my damned wall. I should have been with you years sooner. I just couldn't…."
He placed a finger over her mouth. "Shhh! Your walls were never your fault. They were Bracken's fault and you know it. I should have treated you differently. I should have…"
She kissed him again. "I should have treated you differently. I should have gone to dinner with you after the Tisdale case. I should have gone to bed with you then. I wish I had gone to bed with you much earlier. In fact, I wish you'd have been my first."
"Your first? Be serious."
"I am. I wish I'd given you my virginity."
He shook his head. "You know I'm ten years older than you are?"
"Why don't I tell you a story, Mr. Castle?"
Rick Castle was finishing up after the book signing when he sensed someone standing by him. He looked up into a pair of beautiful hazel eyes.
"Hi, Mr. Castle. Will you sign my book?" She held out a paperback copy of In a Hail of Bullets. She was tall, slender and gorgeous. She was wearing skin tight leather pants and carrying a motorcycle helmet. Under her leather jacket he could see her Stuyvesant High School tee shirt. He could also see her nipples poking out the shirt.
"Certainly. Who should I make it out to?"
"To Kate. My name is Kate."
Castle wrote on the fly page of her book. She looked at it and smiled. "To Kate, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Love, Rick." She looked down at him and then threw one long, lean leg over him and straddled him, leaning in to kiss him.
"Kate." He said when she broke the kiss. "You're extraordinary, but I'm ten years older than you."
She shrugged. "I'm seventeen, so I'm legal. I see we're the only ones left in the store. Is there someplace we can go and make out?" She said, sliding her tee shirt up over her boobs.
"They do have a bedroom in the back with a ten by ten foot bed. I never have used it since there was no one I wanted in it until I met you."
She took his hand and led him towards the back.
A week later, Rick knocked on the Beckett's door.
"Yes?" Jim said.
"I'm Rick Castle, Kate's prom date. She realized that later in life, she'd regret not going to the prom and going to a poetry slam instead."
"Oh! You're Kate's date!" Johanna said. "Please, don't worry about her curfew. Keep her out as long as you want to."
"Actually, Mom, "Kate said, coming down the stairs in a beautiful red, off the shoulder dress, "Rick is taking me to Hawaii for a week after the prom."
"You will be making love to her, won't you?" Johanna asked.
"Mom, Rick has already made love to me in every way imaginable, and a few he invented himself. He has a fantastic imagination."
"That's wonderful." Jim and Johanna said together.
Castle couldn't stop laughing. "Kate, that's the most absurd story I've ever heard. Your parents would have killed me if I'd so much as held your hand when you were a teenager."
Kate shrugged. "You're probably right, but it doesn't stop me from wondering what it would have been like."
"So, let me tell you a story. I'm the story teller after all."
"Officer Beckett?" The tall, ruggedly handsome, blue eyed man said.
"Yes, I'm Officer Kate Beckett."
"I'm best-selling novelist Rick Castle. In researching one of my books, I ran across your mother's case. It fascinated me."
Officer Beckett began to tear up." I became a cop to solve her murder. But I've failed and had to give it up."
"I've done a little research on my own and I've found some things you may not have been able to find. I know guys, after all."
"Why don't we go to your loft and you can show them to me."
"You know I have a loft?"
She nodded. "You're my favorite author. I have all of your books and I religiously check your website. Your books helped me get through my mom's murder. I'm so glad to meet you, Mr. Castle."
"Please call me Rick."
Three hours later Kate and Rick were sprawled naked on his bed. She rested her head on his chest.
"Kate, that was fantastic. That was the most fantastic lovemaking I ever experienced."
"Thanks, but wait until I can concentrate on making love to you and not reading the file on my mom you put together at the same time. That'll really knock your socks off."
"You're extraordinary. Absolutely extraordinary."
"What's even more extraordinary is that I've been frigid right up until I went to bed with you. I never knew sex could be like this."
"Wait until after we solve your mom's murder. I'll knock your socks off."
"Castle!" She cried, slapping him on the chest. "I was never frigid." Seeing him pout, she added. "But making love to you was unlike nothing I've ever experienced before."
He grinned. "Look at the inspiration I have.'
She rested her head on his shoulder. "You've had your shot, Writer Boy. Now it's my turn again."
"Please, Writer Man."
"We could debrief each other."
"So I could be one of your conquests?"
"Or I could be one of yours."
She thought for a second and then nodded. "You'll be one of my conquests then. We'll go back to my place, I'll whip up a gourmet meal for you, and then we'll go to my bedroom where I'll have another kind of gourmet spread for you."
Three days later, Castle was lying on Beckett's bed, gently stroking her perfect ass. "I've been thinking about a new character, a female cop. Could I follow you around for a few years to do research?"
"What kind of a cop would she be?"
"She'd be an eighty year old, three hundred pound Catholic nun named Sister Immaculata."
Kate shook her head. "Forget it. If you write about a female cop, she'll be like me. Tough, slim and sexy, the best homicide cop around and slutty. Don't forget slutty."
"A slutty homicide cop named Sister Immaculata?" Castle didn't sound at all sure about that.
"No. She needs a new name."
Kate frowned, thinking hard.
"Priscilla Prim?" Castle suggested. "Frances Frigid? Valerie Virgin?"
Kate looked disgusted. "God no. I know. Call her….Nikki Heat!"
"That doesn't sound like a cop's name."
"By the time you're done writing it, it will be."
Castle hugged Kate, kissing her softly. "You keep this up and you'll convince me you wrote all the Nikki Heat books by yourself."
She kissed him back. "I am your muse, am I not?"
"And now, Muse, you need to listen to a real storyteller."
"So you want to write the James Bond books." Kate said, trying to let him know somehow that she didn't want him to leave without actually saying so.
"Let's consider the options. Money? Fame? The writing opportunity of a life time? The chance to write about the character who was instrumental in me becoming a writer, or more Nikki Heat books and you. That's a no brainer."
"You're going to leave me?" Kate said, sadly.
"Of course not. I'd have to be crazy to leave you for something like mere money, fame and hordes of sex crazed women chasing after the new James Bond writer. And crazy I am not."
"You'll stay with me?"
"Always."
She glared at him, surprising him. "Then stop looking at my boobs like that."
"Like what?" He asked, wondering what he'd done wrong.
She grabbed his hand and led him to a conveniently located bedroom in the back of the book store. Once she had locked the door, she undid her zipper and pushed the top half of her dress down to her waist. "This is the way you should look at my boobs."
He picked her up and gently put her down on the bed, pulling her clothing off as she undressed him.
"You're magnificent. You're…"
"Bond. Jane Bond." She teased.
"Really, Castle? Jane Bond? First Nikki Heat and then Jane Bond?"
"Works for me."
"I have a better story for you."
Rick Castle pushed the door to her hospital room open and peeked inside. "Hi, how are you?"
"A lot better now that you're here."
"I brought you some flowers. I'll put them over here with the rest."
"Thanks." Kate gathered her strength. "Can I ask you for a favor?"
"Anything."
"Can I come to your loft to recuperate? I just don't want to be alone."
"Absolutely, but what about Josh?"
She shrugged. "I heard about what he said to you, about my shooting being your fault. I also heard he pushed you, and I got so angry, I broke his hands."
"That's bad. Will you get in trouble for that?"
"I might have for that, but breaking his nose and his jaw as well as knocking out fourteen of his teeth and blackening both eyes was a bit too much. And then I kicked him in the balls and…Well, he won't be having children."
Castle was shocked. "Kate, I'll call my lawyers at once. I won't let anything happen to you. I'll do whatever needs to be done, legal or not."
Kate smiled at him. "Don't worry. Ryan and Esposito took care of it. They picked up his unconscious body and staged it so it looked like he was injured sexually assaulting an underage sheep.
"In that case you can stay with me as long as you need."
"That'll be a long time considering that I now know that you love me."
Castle nodded. "I liked that. Especially the sheep part."
"It's a good thing that you're not the jealous type." Kate said, with just a touch of sarcasm.
"I'm only jealous of you, love."
"I have one more story for you, then we have to get back to the party.
Rick Castle drove towards his home and his soon to be wife. In the rear view mirror, he spotted a black Cadillac Escalade coming up behind him fast. He didn't like the looks of the car, so he sped up. So did the Escalade.
Then he saw something else in the rear view mirror, coming up behind him much faster than the Escalade. An AH-64E Apache helicopter gunship? I thought those were still being tested. He thought.
He saw the flame from the nose mounted cannon and saw the rounds strike the Escalade, turning it into a fireball that veered off the road and exploded. The Apache landed a few hundred yards ahead of him and a slim, sexy woman in a white wedding gown got out, then the helicopter lifted away.
He came to a stop as Kate held out her thumb and lifted her skirt to show off her magnificent legs.
"Going my way?" She called.
"Always. What was that all about?"
She shrugged. "I know a guy, too."
"I should ask for more help on the Nikki Heat books."
She smiled. "But not now. We need to get back to the party."
"I haven't finished with the paperwork."
"Yes you have. You have something far more important than paperwork. Your wife needs to show all of our friends how much she loves you." She stood up and looked down at him. "You coming, Castle?"
