After Dressed to Kill, Again

Mrs. Katherine Houghton Beckett Castle finished hanging her second wedding dress in the garment bag and putting it in the closet.
"Not many women can say they have two wedding dresses, and a wedding pant suit, and only one wedding." Rick said, putting his arms around her and nuzzling her ear.
"Like you said, I'm remarkable." She said lightly.
"I think you'll need your mom's wedding dress again."
She stiffened slightly. "Oh?"
"We should renew our vows in another year. Invite all the people who couldn't come to this one. Do it up right at our place in the Hamptons, have a reception there with food and drink to die for, and then off on a honeymoon to end all honeymoons."
She leaned back against him. "Rick, that isn't necessary."
"Agreed. But that's the kind of wedding I wanted us to have. The kind I still want you to have. Let's, face it, I love you so much, I'll want to marry you again every year. Maybe twice in leap years."
Kate laughed. "Okay. If you want that, so do I. In fact, I kind of want a wedding with all of our friends and family. And one day…"She stopped.
"One day?" He prompted.
"It's really not my place…"
"That's never stopped me, and now that you're officially a Castle, I expect you to live up to our proud family traditions."
She turned around and smiled at him. "Our proud family traditions? I need to start theorizing about extra-terrestrial killers coming through wormholes? That tradition?"
"I will be your guide for all of that. But what did you mean about not your place? Your place is right here in the middle of all of this. And it always will be your place. Now, tell me."
"I was thinking that one day Alexis will get married," seeing Castle's face, she quickly added, "many years from now and to someone you wholly approve of." He nodded. "And I was thinking that she could wear my mom's wedding dress. Or the one I got from Matilda King if she likes that one." Kate looked down. "I know I'm not her mom, but I do feel sort of…maternal towards her. I'd love to help her with her wedding, but that's really Meredith's job, not mine. I told you how much I wished my mom could have been here for all of this. Not just the wedding, but from the beginning. I know she would have loved you, and Alexis and Martha, and she would have loved seeing her daughter getting married to the best husband in the world." Kate stopped. "I really didn't need to build up your ego that much did I?"
"Not really. Having the remarkable Kate Beckett as my wife is enough to puff my ego up to monumental proportions. No one else on the planet is as lucky as I am."
Kate giggled, something that Rick loved to hear. "Now I'll have a swelled head."
"And don't worry about not being Alexis' mom. I doubt that Meredith still has her wedding dress or would be interested in Alexis' wedding. Meredith hates not being the center of attention and admitting that she has a daughter old enough to be getting married will never happen." Rick grinned. "I heard from one of the producers of the Nikki Heat movie that Meredith said that she got pregnant with Alexis when she was a teenager. If Alexis waits long enough, Meredith will be claiming she was born pregnant with Alexis. And, Gina, I know she doesn't have her wedding dress. She donated it to some place that collects wedding dresses and prom dresses for the less fortunate. All things considered, I don't think Gina will have much of an impact on Alexis' wedding. "
"It's still kind of difficult, coming into your family."
"I'm coming into yours. And blended families are quite common. Come on, Kate, hang with the cool kids."
"I just hope everything goes all right with Alexis." Kate rested her head against his chest. "And maybe one day we'll have a daughter of own and I can help her with her wedding. Maybe more than one daughter."
"They can fight over the wedding dresses!" Rick said. "Laser pistols at twenty paces. On roller blades."
"Castle!" Kate said, raising an eyebrow.
"Or Cosmo can wear the wedding dress. Who knows what fashions will be like then?"
Kate turned around and closed the closet door. "I think that's enough about the wedding dresses." She turned around again and kissed him. "Agreed?"
"Agreed."
They went into his office and he opened his laptop while she settled into a chair next to his desk.
"Writing something?" She asked.
"Just thinking out loud sort of. And writing it down. When I get an idea for a book, or a scene in a book, or even just a line of dialogue, I like to sit down and try it out. See how it looks."
"Does it work?"
"Most times, not. I did a Derrick Storm once where he went back in time to the Old West and became a bounty hunter. I sort of based it on the old Steve McQueen western from the fifties, Wanted Dead or Alive. Everybody at Black Pawn hated it. I once wrote a chapter where Nikki had to go undercover as this billionaire's latest wife."
"Oh, I bet that ended well!" Kate said laughing. "Would the billionaire have been a dark haired Brit by any chance?"
"It did end well, Nikki broke up a terror plot to attack Manhattan. And the billionaire was a three hundred pound Arab who refused to bathe or brush his teeth. Achmed bin Vann turned out to be the head terrorist."
"I'm sure you had fun writing that one." She teased.
"I loved every word of it."
"So what are you doing now?"
"Since I find I have an ex-model for a wife, that means that Nikki is gorgeous enough to model as well, since you are Nikki. So I was thinking that Nikki could have been a uniform by day and a model by night early in her career."
"Better than your original idea of cop by day and hooker by night, but when would she have slept? Models and cops work long hours. And where would Rook be in all of this? Plus, I am Nikki Heat and I'm not sure I like the idea of my modeling past being brought up. I wasn't exactly a huge success. I just fooled around with it one summer when I was at Stanford."
"Don't worry about it. It'll probably come to nothing. Just like the sci fi story I did about the space cowboy. I can't understand why Black Pawn hated that one, too."
Kate leaned over and kissed him. "I need to do some more unpacking of the things I moved over from my old place. Will you help?"
"I won't be long."

Rook was instantly fascinated by her. The endlessly long legs that ended at the world's most perfect ass. And her body was to die for. He knew he needed to see the face behind the sexy black mask and blue wig.
"I'm Jameson Rook." He said, handing her a glass of champagne, as hers was empty.
"Mikki." She replied, taking the glass.
"Mikki what?" He asked, even further fascinated.
"Just Mikki." She said smiling and melting his heart.
"Castle? Are you going to help me?"
"Be right there." He saved what he had and closed the laptop. This will be great.
