Aemon Targaryen: Son of the Rogue Prince
-Prologue-
-3rd Person POV-
"AAAAAAAAAAH"
"Damn, couldn't she scream any less loudly?" said Prince Daemon, annoyed by his wife's cries.
"Have a bit of tolerance for her, after all, she is your wife, Daemon, and she's about to give birth to your future heir," said Queen Alysanne, glaring at her grandson while rocking her great-granddaughter.
Daemon laughed darkly, and then sarcastically said, "My heir, huh."
Silence settled in the king's apartments because everyone knew the disgust Daemon had for his wife, but he generally did not express it openly out of respect for his father, his brother, and his grandfather, the current king Jaehaerys Targaryen.
Everyone knew the truth: Daemon had only slept with his wife once, and that was on their wedding night. The real problem came with the pregnancy.
Many in the royal family considered this pregnancy a miracle, given the distance and animosity between the two spouses, but some, including Daemon, received the news with caution.
The doubts were not limited to the royal apartments; little by little, the affair spread throughout the nobility.
Daemon's magical seed, that's what everyone called this scandal, some out of pure admiration while others out of sheer irony and pettiness.
How could a woman who had only slept with her husband once get pregnant?
Did she take a lover once the Prince lost interest in her?
Was she already pregnant before getting married?
Or had she taken a lover before?
Regardless of the rumors, all greatly impacted the image of the royal family, and many lost a tongue or a head once these rumors reached the Prince's ears.
However, although he forbade anyone to slander, the malicious thoughts only accumulated and added even more disgust he already felt towards his wife.
"We brought your wife from Runestone 8 moons ago, if she had betrayed you, we would already know," said Viserys, trying to temper his brother's increasingly dark mood.
"We shall see," said Daemon in a dry tone.
Silence returned, and everyone waited for the cries to subside, and 10 minutes later, after 4 hours of labor, a servant entered holding a baby wrapped in swaddles, and she said with a smile: "Your son, Prince Daemon."
Daemon was speechless and did not dare to move forward to look at the appearance of his wife's bastard.
A few awkward seconds passed before Queen Alysanne handed Rhaenyra to her mother and stood up to go check the baby in the arms of the servant, who handed her the baby before quickly exiting, leaving the royal family their privacy.
Once the Good Queen held the baby in her arms and observed him, she froze for a few seconds before turning her eyes towards her husband.
Without saying anything, she said, "Come see, Jaehaerys."
The king frowned but approached nonetheless, and once he looked at his great-grandson, he had the same reaction as his wife.
Daemon, impatient, said angrily, "He's a bastard, I knew it, that bitch had a bastard behind my back, I'm going to kill her."
"Quiet, Daemon," said his furious grandfather.
He took the baby from his wife's arms and then handed him to his grandson, saying, "You have been blessed above all, Daemon. My son's soul has reincarnated in yours." Daemon furrowed his brows in confusion, but it was only once he saw the baby that his grandfather was handing to him that all his doubts evaporated in an instant.
In the arms of the aging king, who had just celebrated his fiftieth year of reign, was a baby with pale skin and golden-white hair, but the greatest surprise came once he opened his lilac eyes.
Eyes of a color that was, in this generation at least, unique to Aemon Targaryen, previous rider of his own dragon, Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm.
"What will you name him?" asked his grandmother, her tone filled with emotion, holding back the storm of emotion raging inside her.
"Aemon, his name will now be Aemon Targaryen. May he honor his great-uncle," said Daemon in a noticeably relieved tone.
