Massacre In The Village

Everyone woke up late the following morning. It was the weekend and so they had no problem at all even if they woke up at noon. After taking their baths, the woman of the house prepared breakfast which they all ate together and after that, they planned how to spend the remaining day.

"Allen, can you go get us some bushmeats again? There is something I'd like to prepare for everyone," the woman said to Allen while they were in the kitchen.

"Okay, Mom, I'll be right back!" Allen happily replied and left the kitchen. As he was about to leave the house, Scarlett ran to him.

"May I join you again?" She asked him.

"No, Scarlett, you can't," he replied.

"But why? I followed you yesterday, remember?" She said with an unhappy look.

"I know, but not today. You know what, I promise to take you with me next time, it's a promise," he replied and patted her on the head. "Okay?"

"Okay, bye," she finally agreed and ran back inside the house.

Allen watched as she ran back inside and he could be help but smile at her behavior. Innocent kids aren't so difficult to please, no matter how sad or angry they are with someone, just a simple promise, and gift will soften their hearts. He sighed and then left for the forest, he was happy that he was going to the forest again because he was certain to see some monsters to fight so that he'll gain some points.

But while he was going, he suddenly felt something. It was a strange feeling of fear and unease that swept over him like a cool breeze, the only thing now is that it didn't last long — it was a brief moment of feeling and he couldn't decipher the cause of it.

"I should better hurry up and go back home," he mumbled and increased his pace. Just as he got to the entrance of the forest, he saw a tall monster with red eyes coming out from the deeper part of the forest. It looked just like a man but then, it had two horns on its head, claws for hands, and two sets of bird legs for feet, it also has two sets of long pointy ears and a set of bird wings at the back. "What is that?" He mumbled quite in shock because he had never seen a man-like monster like the one some distance away from him.

However, while he was still in thought, he was unaware that the monster had already seen him and so before he could react and save himself, the monster grabbed him by the neck and dragged him along with it as it ran back deeper into the forest. He tried so much to struggle his way out of the monster's grip but to no avail, and while he still struggling, he received a system notification.

"Chimera what?" Allen yelled, not quite understanding what the system meant.

[Chimera monsters are monsters originating from the combination of different cells from other organisms. Just like the one before you... a human with a demon head and claws, and the feet and wings of an eagle in him. You must defeat it to gain more points]

At last, the chimera monster got to where it was heading — A dark cave filled with the bones of animals and humans alike. It flung Allen away until he slammed his back against the wall of the cave.

"Argh!" A groan escaped his lips as he stood up and faced the monster. "Bastard! You made a mistake bringing me here," he said to the monster who grinned and rushed at him with his both claws stretched out.

Meanwhile, back at the village, Mrs. Rose and Scarlett were in the kitchen preparing food. But then, Scarlett would occasionally glance outside of the window and pout. Her mother noticed her and stopped what she was doing to ask her about it.

"Baby, what is the matter? You don't look happy," she said to her.

"Mother, I don't know why but I feel uneasy and scared of something," Scarlett replied.

"Huh? Is it that you are unhappy that your big brother left without you?" Her mom asked her.

"Far from it, mother. I just feel uneasy, that's all," Scarlett replied with a sigh. She didn't know how to explain how she was feeling to her mom, it had been like this since Allen left for the forest.

"Don't worry, baby... Everything will be fine," her mom reassured her with a smile.

Just as they were talking, they heard a scream coming from the outside of their house.

"Mother, what is that?" Scarlett asked.

"Let me check it out, stay inside," her mom said and left the kitchen. As soon as she stepped outside, she was shocked to see blood all over the ground. "Honey!" She called her husband who was inside the house. "Honey, come over now!"

Her husband rushed outside and seeing the blood everywhere, he too got shocked.

"What is this? What's happening?" He asked and stepped outside. His wife wanted to follow him but he signaled for her to stay back, he had to go by himself because he didn't know what could be waiting for them outside. As he walked some distance away from the house, he heard a growl behind him and fear gripped him. It took him a whole lot of time to turn around and the moment he did, whatever was behind him caught him and tore him into shreds even before he could react.

"David!" His wife yelled from where she was standing. She had seen everything, it happened so slowly as if time stopped moving that particular moment when her husband was being torn into pieces by the monster.

Hearing her voice, the monster looked up from the bloody flesh in its hand and saw her, a deep grin appeared on its face as it also rushed toward her and caught her, tearing her down and feasting on her flesh.

"Mother, Father!" Scarlett yelled from where she was standing at the window. She too had witnessed her both parents being killed and eaten by the monster. The monster soon noticed and rushed inside the house where she was standing, it grabbed her by the hair and pulled her outside after which he drove its claws right into her chest, pulling them out with a beating heart in its grasp.

This monster wasn't the only one, there were so many monsters all over the small village, turning the whole place into a field of blood and dead bodies. Allen thought he had gotten a family at last but what he didn't know is that fate is far too cruel.
