Epilogue
Andrew Fray POV:
TWO WEEKS LATER
I sat at my desk, looking through the news feed on my laptop while I waited for my next client to arrive. I couldn’t help smiling at what I saw.
The trial against Rafael King was already over thanks to his own confession. He was looking at a life sentence, but between his cooperation and testimony he had provided, he would have a chance for parole in fifteen years.
The same could not be said for the Aakster family. They would be thrown in jail kicking and screaming even as the criminal empire they had built for themselves crumbled around them. There was even a video of Twitchy trying to attack his own lawyer with a switchblade.
No happy ending for them, but did they really deserve one?
I reached across my desk for my coffee mug, but it was empty. I even had to smile at that because it gave me another chance to take advantage of my favorite development since getting back from Boston. I grabbed my desk phone.
