Chapter 7

Page 68- _Ignorance, Bravery and Demon Food_

Kiyohime..... _Ahem..., sorry to disappoint you lady Inata, but i ate on my way here. I was actually thinking of taking a bath now, see ya._

And just like that she was gone, leaving the princes mumbling," how unfair". After a while Inata was done packing heaps of food and passed it on to the others.

Ayami.... _Here's my special onijiki ina spaghetti dish!._

Rintarõ.... _T-hank you. (I'm guessing the onijiki means demon food? But i don't see any spaghetti in here)_

Served in a medium sized plate were small pieces of boiled eggs, barely enough spiced rice, some sort of green leaves and red bean soup. Chunks of cooked salmon with seasoning and mashed potatoes. Extras were butterfly shaped pasta cookies and what she then saw as the lump of mashed spaghetti soiled by a salad dressing. "Is this even allowed?," she asked herself bringing up a spoonful of the spiced rice. "I think some of the ingredients are the random items we bought the other day." The aroma was at least satisfying so she thought of giving it a try when suddenly, yells erupted from the door.

????.... _Kei!, Kei! is it true?!!! Is what Takami said true!?_

The voice familiar to none other than the rude princess' shouted as she banged open the door panting in disbelief. Overjoyed by the new member, Inata grinned with a crafty look dancing all over her face.

Ayami.... _Oho lady Kagami, have you decided to join us at last?_

Mii stopped yelling trying to make a swift run for it. Her left hand touched the living room walls while turning, and a moment later she felt a strong grip clutching the other one. Brimming with shiny eyes stood Inata shooting an uncomfortable glance at the little lady.

Ayami.... _Oh my were you thinking of calling your brother?, how considerate. But that is not of necessity, he can join us anytime later on. For now come and enjoy the food with everyone else._

"No matter how you look at it that's just a forceful assumption!", Rintaro yelled, making sure it stayed in her mind. Ayami postured towards a sit beside Keisuke and asked Kagami to go sit down while revealing a small deadly grin. Hot sauce served before her, the princess could not think of any other plans. She took a look at the onijiki and next thing in place was a pale expression ready to puke anytime.

Rin looked at the table and could see tears awaiting a release from the strong hearts of everyone. Ayami on the other hand was very much appeased by the speed at which Kisami shoveled everything else except the pasta cookies into his mouth.

Ayami.... _Ooooh is it that delicious!?_

Clogged with mashed potatoes, the second prince could only give a nod as he continued with his off-putting way of eating. "Far be it from tasty this food is poisonous," self-whispered Rin pushing the spoon into her mouth. At first she thought it was just the beginning so maybe eating more would make her get used to the taste. But the more she ate, the more her tongue became tasteless burning from too much salt and spices. When she caught up to a better taste of rice, the other mixtures would grind in and ruin the flavor. She kept a strong tide but silently her mind was screaming and her belly complained with satiated fury. Finally she won the battle but many of her intestine-warriors were already injured.

"Thank you for the food," she said, together with her fellow comrades who had dropped spoons halfway and others finished but left lying on the table.

Ayami.... _You're welcome, if any of you want mor...._

"No!!," everyone exclaimed before she could finish.

Ayami.... _My my what a response, it seems i'll be cooking a light dinner today. Oh by the way, lady Kagami could you tell me where your brother is?. He was supposed to be having lunch with us after he finished talking to young lord Keisuke._

The maid ignorantly trampled on a regretful question. A moment after concluding her sentence, the atmosphere instantly changed. From Takahiro who sat at the end of the table to the young princess near Rin, each tensed with a strange expression on their faces. The boys were back to their sad, wistful and quiet moods from before. But different from the others Kagami had a puzzled look. She slightly raised her head to look up at Kei with a face covered in sweat from forcing half of the deadly "special dish" to go down.

To be continued.....
