Chapter 2

Page 12- _Damsel in distress_

A tingling feeling took root in Rintaro. Her caller was much of a missed and less of an annoying person. After shoveling a great effort, she had finally forgotten, but her rewards were shortlived. She had a hunch of who it was, but just to be sure she hesitantly gazed at the screen, wooed the mouth-piece over and asked, "Who is it?". Her tone sounded secluded of furore. "Hi, it's Keisuke calling," he replied with a shrill voice. For a moment Rin stood steadily in silent surprise. Keisuke's voice brought her back to her senses.

Keisuke.... _l remembered your birthday and decided to call you. Are you free today?_

It took a splintered time before she replied, which made his voice stammer as he kept calling her name. On the verge of popping out her reply, Keisuke continued talking.

Keisuke.... _Meet me at the old peach tree we used to go as friends, i have something to say_

Soon as he finished Rintaro uprightly declined. "What a bad time to call," she murmured while brainstorming for a good enough excuse. He kept saying sorry and he wanted to explain everything. As Haruno found his persistence becoming irritating, she unwillingly gave in. But given under a certain condition. Without asking the reason, Keisuke hung up and took off to the Haruno house.

She tidied up the place as quick as she could, and in no time Kei had arrived. The gentleman full of bravado and glitzy fashion she had seen some months ago was gone. This time there wasn't an extravagant drop off from a limo, or anything to the likes of before. It was just a handsome boy in casual clothes who had been dropped off by a car somewhere, or at least that's what Rin assumed. He'd actually gotten off the train station and walked all the way to her house.

Rin's peers were on the small chintz in her cerise red laced and auburn floral curtains, until Senami finally knocked.

She prepped into a perfect face expression and took hold of the door knob. She was shocked at her own audacity when she suddenly found herself letting out a huge scream confined under a broad smile and jumped over to Keisuke. He too was surprised but not more than her. Contrary to anger, a sensation of happiness had abruptly appeared surging with a butterfly feeling. In response to her feelings, Senami drew out a hug with great finesse. Rintaro throbbed with excitement in the folded arms around her, but she couldn't let him see that. She furtively slipped away from his arms and clutched the look of an angry person as her eyes snapped open. They were fastened on him as she threw a silly tantrum and pretended as though nothing had happened. "Are you coming in or what?," she asked, feet turned towards the door. Although she wasn't sure, for a minute there her eyes captured the instant moment of a small smile quirk up on Kei's face.

Despite the ambivalent feelings whirling inside, her manners seemed to have relished to that of a five-star restaurant waitress. She served him an ice-cold cola beverage along with top quality _Kanmu_ sweet milk biscuits, and a variety of delicacies. Her mind was somehow warped in Keisuke's presence. The air was stiff and with the summer heat, nervousness only amounted to the body temperature rising. After an awkward moment of silence, Keisuke broke it with a,"How nostalgic, i can't picture anything else other than the time you once blacked out". His voice was languorously brusque. On the other hand, all Rin could do at the moment was brace herself from slipping even a tear drop through her already bleary eyes.

Rintarõ..... _Why are you here?, Why bring back the past after what you did? You shouldn't even be here!._

Anguish was all over her face that even she knew it. Although she played dumb, swiveling joy and a trance in the moment made her speech pattern off and she clearly was embarrassingly blushing.

Keisuke.... _What do you mean?, you're the one who told me to come to your house. You said i could come under a certain condition didn't you?._

He was trying to ease and loosen her up, but even he could see his jocose charm was failing to work. Next thing seconded, he kneeled down and pulled out a heavy apology.

Keisuke..... _l'm very sorry for what i did back then. But it was all for your sake. There's something i need to tell you._

Instead of the eased face he had hoped for, Keisuke got the opposite. Her face tightened, an uneasy expression invading her beauty. She was shocked of course, infact anyone in that hook-nook cat and mouse situation would be. As hesitant as she was, her mouth was still able to make out the words, "What do you mean it was all for my sake?". Senami was about to answer, but there was something he noticed. An instant rift in time held a state of silence convulsed in a somewhat stammer manner. To Haruno, a slow movement of words from Keisuke's mouth approached her jittery eyes . Her whole body couldn't move, and bit by bit, two faces of Keisuke swung left and right.

She felt drowsy, pivoted around the couch and leaned against it while slowly sliding down the floor. Last thing she saw was his face hollowed in terror as he quickly moved in to her fading rescue. Everything went black and admist that turmoil she felt rather happy. The thought of hearing Keisuke's next words grasped her in a fear so tight, she ended up feeling relieved.

To be continued......
