Page 99- _Ignorance Is A Bliss_
First thing was no doubt visiting and buying bowls of ramen. Finished they went straight to the station and back to Rin's house. After opening the door, memories of Takashi welcoming her with a huge grin on his face flooded her mind. Next thing she knew, her mouth was shouting "i'm home!" 'till it dropped to nothingness. Concern grasping a big soft heart, Ai choked on the idea of cheering up her friend. "I'm gonna be your maid for the night," she said. At first Rintaro didn't get it but moments later she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. The blue haired friend took care of her bag and uniform. She pulled them upstairs and back down she returned, carrying a change of casual clothes. Her smooth face glowed from the bulb's golden radiant light.
With a smile etched onto her lips, she lifted depressed Rin's legs up the table. Anyone would think the wistful expression splashed on _little miss genius'_ glistening face was fake. She had said it herself, " my brother is annoying". So a little time off from the nagging was just what she needed, at least that would have been the norm. And not to mention the recent good news of finally being in a relationship with her childhood crush. It should have sufficed for a day ended well, but nothing of sort could stick back broken pieces of a lonely heart.
Well that is what her mind probably thought until taking a whiff of Merumi's super delicious food. She fervently waited to get a savory taste of the chef's delicacy while chipping away at the edges of her long smooth fingernails.
Rintarõ.... _Mhmm! this is definitely gonna be yummy._
Merumi.... _You bet!, now eat up. They say revenge is best served cold but i disagree. Take my astonishingly hot dish as revenge for giving me a fun day out on the fireworks festival. And don't forget, you should always eat food when it's hot._
Rintarõ.... _Hahaha! Ok i hear ya. Here we go._
She took one bite of the roasted sauce-dipped marinated chicken only to get a mouth watering taste of pure delight.
Rintarõ.... _This is by far the best chicken i've ate since i was born._
Merumi.... _Oooh you love it that much!?, thanks. Our chef at home forcefully teaches me a lot about cooking. I guess listening to a thing or two paid off._
Ai was pleased to see the jolly good smile and shiny cheeks on her friend. And no doubt Rin had gone from sad to thrilled in an instant. By the time it came nighttime, her belly was so stuffed she could barely lift a leg up the stairs. After a few humorous attempts, her stamina surrendered and she decided to sleep on the couch instead. Super thoughtful friend Merumi did what any best friend would've done. Take sheets from upstairs and cover up Haruno. Afraid of leaving her alone, she did the same and slept on the other couch.
Come sunrise the girls were already up and about munching on omelette rice. Thanks to her early waking up routine, Ai was able to get Rin off the floor in time for a bath and breakfast.
Merumi.... _So did you sleep ok? Any boyfriend came to your dreams?_
Rintarõ.... _w-What!? No!. Stop teasing me so early in the morning. Let's just finish up and go, i wanna catch the 7:30 express train before it's full._
Merumi.... _I know you're dying to see him so i'm gonna go ahead and give you full permission to act selfish for the whole morning._
A second later the two were coiled up in laughter. Every time they exchanged looks they would kick start-off a chuckle spree. And Rintaro enjoyed every moment of it.
Both took their items, threw in bags and off to the station they ran. In no time each was striding across the bridge to a normal breathing pace while sitting inside the express train. First thing Rin noticed was the leering boy from the other day. She tried showing Ai but when they turned to look back, he was gone.
Merumi.... _Not to be rude Rin but are you ok?._
Rintarõ.... _I'm not sure anymore, maybe i didn't get enough rest. Can i take a short nap on your lap 'till we reach our destination?_
Merumi..... _Umm...., sure i guess. But don't be troublesome when i try to wake you up._
Rintarõ.... _Sure thing, thanks._
And just like that Rintaro visited the dream world once more in hopes of clearing her head. But ignorance untold she had no clue that everything happening around her was true.
