CHAPTER ONE

Page 8- _Deceiver's passion_

A heaven-sent aroma, clarified to Rin's nose that this was a five star meal indeed. They were served some anchovy and filet steaks deeped in cream sauces. In the second tray, assorted pastas and salads were presented along with a full roasted chicken and creamy salad dressings. The two fed each other but it seemed to Rin like she was the one mostly enjoying the whole thing. It never dared to ring once in her mind about what Keisuke liked until the golden hour promptly arrived. With tree leaves rustling from the windy breeze, sundown had breached the peak of nightfall.

Upon arrival at their final destination, Rintaro spread out the elagant sheets she had gotten from Keisuke. He had reserved quite the rare endearing place for a minute-view. While they lay down, Rin thought of how exquisitely clear and magnificent the view looked. Opposite to her left view, the sky was dark and constellations of stars were all around high up.

Rintarõ.... _Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful day. There's never going to be one as great as this._

She ended up losing track of her words and blurted out something that was always hard for her to say.

Rintarõ.... _l love you Keisuke_

Cursed be the sudden breach of sound in the sky that made her confession fall on deaf ears. Keisuke didn't hear what Rin said but she didn't know that. The meteor shower had begun and some people started lighting fireworks.

The scenery was just so beautiful that she couldn't help but glance into the starry sky. She wished for her relationship with Keisuke to always have that special spark, but a little too late she was in not knowing the outcome of the day. The humble wish she had made got opposed with a short string of piercing words that followed. The once gentleman looking Senami's face had turned from joyous to gloomy and dull. His eyes were pitch black as he said 'sorry,' with a shadow casting over his forehead. Rintaro's eyes popped out, her heart skipped a beat and her hands began quivering. To her, a whole series of past events were reappearing back. She was familiar with the type of face Keisuke had when he left to go abroad. She gently calmed her voice to a low sound.

Rintarõ.... _Why are you apologizing with such a scary face?_

Keisuke.... _l want to tell you something but right now l can't. All l can say for now is, make sure you never come near me again. From now on we're no longer friends._

He turned and started walking away but a step after, he stood and said something under his breath.

Keisuke.... _But if you trust me, i will be sure to explain everything to you soon._

Rintaro was unable to hear his last words as they toned down an inaudible sound. With the shower ended, a sudden scary rumble along with a thunder roar descended upon the once clear sky. She could barely stand up let alone walk from all the stress, but she got the energy and stood up. Only the falls of tears that sparkled as they trickled down her cheeks, were visible enough to be seen within the dark night. Keisuke was long gone after finishing his so short yet cold and confusing words.

With heavy rain pouring down, Rin took a cab home. After reaching a stop, she hesitantly walked. While in a storytelling sound of footsteps towards the corner of her street, her day got even worse as she neared a closed convenience store. From a distance was her big brother sitting under a shed, but seemingly cold. With speed nabbed from fury, he scurried towards Rin ready to give her a long scolding. But he was able to see the sulking gloomy face along with tears in the dark rainy night posing as his line to stop.

Rintaro opened the door and with a somewhat emotional apology, went straight to her room. Since her clothes were drenched, she took a shower and slammed herself onto the bed. Takashi knocked on her door and asked about the look that had made her once cheerful and happy sister so surly and dull. But with Rin so stressed she just ignored him, plugged some earbuds and went to sleep. The confusion had her mind blank to the edge of silence. But that was no surprise, the day she looked forward to had collapsed in shambles. The saddening events drove her to think she had the answer to Takahiro's question.

A sleep so short stressed made her recognize that it was already sunrise. It was her first time waking up without the help of an alarm, which made her feel proud of herself. The longing sadness from yesterday still shortly lingered but anger towards her own mind was what bottled up the most. The thought of her thinking Keisuke had changed infuriated her, but the important past note of his last words never bounced back in her mind.

Rintaro hadn't realized it but no sooner had she tried to walk, did she notice her legs wouldn't stand. Skipping dinner plus a high fever checked by Takashi, created a close on not either waking up or going to school until she had cooled down. After all, she hadn't really eaten enough food on the date afraid Keisuke would call her gluttonous. Her brother cooked some hot soup and gave her some medicine. As a caring sibling he had chosen to take the day off, but the insistence on him going to work by Rin cleared his caring decision. Ruining the career of her own brother because of her personal problems wasn't one of the things she could live with. She ate breakfast, switched off her constantly ringing phone and went to sleep. When she woke up, the sunset rays phased through her curtains. Remembering the promise from Takahiro, she thought of the rendezvous point where they were supposed to meet but she couldn't go. Her body still felt restless and she hadn't made her mind straight yet. Upon picking up her phone, twenty missed calls and a hundred texts from Aigasaki inquiring, "Why didn't you come to school?, Are you okay?, What's wrong? Please answer! and a lot more were present. In Rin's class, some people including her, did voluntary cleanups on Sundays. When she wanted to reply back, a sudden knock from the door came through.
