"Thando, hold up!" I heard Amara's voice behind me as I walked down the street, lost in thought. She caught up, panting out of breath as she reached my side.
"Amara? Is there something wrong?" I asked, a bit surprised to see her.
"No, no. I just thought it would be great if I walked you home. It's no longer safe walking alone."
"Amara, I'm fine. I don't need you to babysit me."
"It doesn't count as 'babysitting' if no one is sitting on a baby. Am I right?" Amara teased, cracking a smile on my face.
I chuckled, "Okay, fine. But where's Juliet? Did you leave her behind?" I glanced back, half expecting to see Juliet running to catch up.
"She said it's okay if I do. She wants to wait by the school for her mom to pick her up."
I nodded in understanding, "Okay then."
