Chapter Twenty Three: Our Journey Begins

Aiden got lost in his thoughts after receiving Yemi's fax. He stared long at the picture in his hand. If he hadn't witnessed his sister-in-law die himself, he would have believed she was the one in the picture.

Emily, he called his wife. I need you to see this. He handed the picture he got from his son to her. Emily's hand shook when she saw the picture. She's... she. No, it's not her, I think this was the child she was carrying then. Emily shrivelled at the idea, staring up at her husband. I need to go, he said softly. She nodded understanding what he meant. If truly she is her daughter I need to help maybe I could atone for my sins. Okay, I will pack the bags.

Yemi noticed Ayooni had been keeping a distance from him since the revelation and it didn't sit well with him. Somewhere he felt what she was doing was the right thing to do with every possibility that they might be related but somehow they were all related in this case just that hers and his were too hipbone tight to mend.

Why does it feel right to be with her? His mood becomes damper by the thought that he can't have her. Five years he waited just to have and now there is every possibility they might not work. It feels like fate is playing with them. Now they stood opposite each other over Ayu's dead body. He could tell she was affected by him just like she does him. Happy the pest of a friend of hers is not hovering over her today, he thought he could have this conversation with her here and now.

Ayooni felt his gaze more daunting than before. She wished things were different but she didn't know what to make of the revelation of him being her possible relative. The relationship between them was too close to be mended. She understands there are olden rules that you can date a person from your family but this is different. What she feels for him surpasses just the feeling it is more like an obsession. The pull between them is too strong to ignore and she's finding it difficult to let go. This is more like an abomination fate had planned for them. Half her concentration wasn't on the body she was examining but on the sad person across her. Unable to take it anymore, she decided to step out only to be stopped by him.

Running away he said, his voice low in a controlled temper. This woman... I need air, she mumbled. Why? Is it me or him you needed the air from? Unable to meet his eyes, I need to go, please. Yomi raised her chin to look at him. Does it scare you? Instead of answering him, she sighed. What do you want me to do Yemi?

I am not asking you to do anything, I just want to know why I have been avoided. It isn't a nice feeling having someone you are falling in love with avoid you like a plaque. Tears glistened in her eyes at his words, what love Yemi? This love is forbidden to you and I know it well. So why dwell on something that can't work just to get hurt in the end? He noted he didn't deny him. Is that what you feel? He asked. If we can't work because of some twisted past or the fact that we may be related.

Seeing he pointed her fears out. I don't know what to do about this. I just found out I am not my mother's daughter but a child from another only to be kept in another. I realised the body of an artefact that could give me a big break in my career is my father he is laid down and suffering from years of anguish and I don't know what to do to ease his pain. Or to you whom I find I can't do without is my possible relative. I have conflicting thoughts, either I should go with the flow and see where this ends or just let things be. I am confused about what to do and with you in the equation, it is tiring and exciting at the same time. I don't want based on some fate written down before I was conceived. Yomi moved fast, his feelings spiralled at her words. His lips locked on hers fast and hard, and he laid everything bare for her to see. Read me he said between the kiss as he placed her hand on his chest. She felt him under those taut muscles. His feelings lapped over hers staggering. She felt his lust, the fear, jealousy, possessiveness, obsession and love all overwhelm her like a person intoxicated, a moth drawn to a flame she closed in and gave in to all the emotions she wanted to lock in, she gave in to her fears and her love for him. She lets him in as much as he does her.

She let him take her deeper. Oh my! What a sight to see so early, Anike exclaimed... the sudden intrusion had the breaking apart. Anike stood with Kunle at the entrance. What a sight to see. Ayooni felt the embarrassment kick in. Such a spoiled sport Yem muttered under his breath making her laugh. Are you alright he asked. seeing the aggressive bump on her lips. I am she smiled at him sheepishly making him grin. I would very much love to excuse you guys but you need to see this, Yomi said motioning to the body behind them.

Confused they turned to see, Ayu sitting on the altar with a smile adorning his face. His face looks gentle despite the pain he is going through. You are not complete for the passage, Ayu muttered.
