CHAPTER 17:

" Tom , tom wake up , you are late you've overslept again" his mom woke him from a deep sleep , he was dreaming and singing , " come on mom , I was in the middle of the greatest dream ever , I was with my friends at the beach , just after practice and we were having fun then ..." , " then what" , " I guess I can't recall anymore" , " okay get up then" , " yep mom I'm up and I won't doze again" . he said and got up , he went out for a twenty minute jog , he then went for a shower . " tom I think this time you'll prove that you're the best " , " dad , you've made a choice of giving me a chance to prove myself and you'll never regret it , oh I think it's time I have to go he said as he picked up his bag and went" .

After breakfast , tom went to the club , he was late indeed , they all looked at him , " guys , sorry I'm late but it won't happen again" tom said , " actually we've not even started yet" said lanna , " oh you've not , tom said as he looked at lanna , he remembered all about his dream , he quite was lost for a while , " tom , tom" , lanna said as he tapped tom's shoulder , " you know what you seem to be somewhere else" , " yeah absolutely I am so far away , I had the craziest dream ever..." he said as they went under the palm tree .

"Do you remember this place tom" , " yeah I sure do this is the place when I first kissed you lanna" , " so about you dream , do you care to tell me ?" , " sure i... , was on to tell you that , so I was with you and the whole team at the beach after practice and we moved aside from the others , and went to the sea , and I just couldn't recall all the words I said to you" , " what do you mean" , ' actually I will try to recall it but it is hard" .

" look at those love buddies over there" bill whispered to ritha , " they look cute right" , " yeah , actually it's been time since we had a simple date I love it most when we hang out not at the mariachi's restaurant or somewhere else fancy" , " yeah it's been time but soon after the competition we'll have plenty of time to hangout" .

Miley showed , but no one was ready to practice they all had plenty of stuff to do except mike , he was the one with nothing to do . " so you've decided to do nothing till I come" , " yeah I guess I'm the only one who's got nothing to do and ready to practice" mike said , " so get the others we have to start now , it's only five days then we head to the main day" , " okay I'll go get them" , mike said .

" oh come on don't start right now , we've got some serious work to do" he said , tom and lanna were kissing under the palm tree , ritha and bill were also about to at the grocery . they all stood up hurriedly trying to disguise.

"So you all have nothing to do waiting for directions" , " actually coach you're late and we had nothing else to do" , " oh I'm late so let's get to work we don't have much time , what are you waiting for move it guys , you're so lazy today" , they all grabbed their surfing boards and went to the shore . tom took a deep breath before he could jump into the water , the image of the huge splashes that over ran him came to his mind over and over again. He looked both ways and observed his teammates , and also looked at miley , " I am the team captain and nothing is going stop me from winning" he whispered to himself and jumped into the water with his surfing board .

" tom , I think i need to talk to you for a while" , miley said to tom . " so tom how have you been doing this morning" , " just fine , trying to get used to the courage I had' , " yeah I've been seeing it , but there's something you should consider tom ," , " what is it then" , " I know you're trying to be courageous and trying to regain you dad's trust but tom , you've got to handle your courage , you don't want to be over confident right , it's a factor for downfall" , " yeah coach , I'm not that kind of guy who will go boasting around. " Yeah I know but I've got to keep on telling you that so that you'll remember I to that very day , you're the team captain right you'll tell the others too" , " yeah I will" , " and focus more on your left leg it'll cause you more trouble" , " yes , and thanks coach" .

Tom went back , he thought of what miley had said and wondered about it .

"Guys practice is over now , I think we have to get a short break now". " man I worked up a good sweat time for a cool down" , said pete , " come on" Jennifer said disgustedly "what , is it wrong to work out" , " mike you won't come with me to if you're still saying gross things" , okay pardon me I won't" .

" So gather up guys I've got some things to tell you" , miley said to them . " So I guess it's been some time since we had serious training , we've had many obstacles , one after another and they all keep us from training and yet we have some big teams to battle , up to now I just can't imagine how we'll walk through them , cause they are actually strong teams , but nothing so hard to tackle , I believe that we are all that we could need to succeed right" , they all clapped hands , " and I need every one to consider their weaknesses , it's easy to lose if you expose your weakness , the blue yachts , are the greatest we have to battle , their coach MR graham was my friends and this is what I know about him , he considers weaknesses of people and uses them to win , and so does his team , so you have to be smarter than they are right , let's have a toast" .

In the evening everyone was getting ready to head back home , pete approached jennifer asking that they would go home together , lanna laughed at them , and so did tom , he approached lanna , " can we do the same" , " sure" , " by the way I remembered the words , I was telling you that whatever happened care less about it , it's just you and I and the sea nothing else will get between us" , " wow tom that's so sweet , I hope it'll go on forever" .

" How sweet to see them together after some tragedy" , ritha said , " so can we do the same my darling" , " oh I was waiting for you to say so" , " so I m the only one left behind" said mike , they all laughed at him .

" so miley were leaving" , " so you decided to leave two by two huh" , " yeah is there something wrong , no not at all it's just cute to see you like that" , " okay so bye" Jennifer said.

" ritha how are you my girl" , her dad said as she reached home , " fine dad after a long day, we had to stop by tom's place to check on him , actually he was fine after the accident that could take more than four weeks for me to recover" , " he's a sea lover just like you , but even more intense" , " yeah" , " so he's trying to be a champion just like you do" , " yeah , dad and I am sure I'll win though he's tougher but it's all the greater good" , " ritha there's something I haven't told you , when you want to succeed do it as a team , I don't care if you'll get first place or not , all I want is you to be a successful surfer" , " thanks dad" , she said as she hugged her .
