Chapter 24: New People.

After deciding to adopt the wolf cubs and let Oxyotl raise them, they continued their exploration for more monsters as Amelia only lacked a few crystals before she had enough for her rank up.

The cubs were being held by Kennen and Amelia as they were at the back of every single fight and didn't need to use their hands, especially Kennen who straight up didn't participate in the fight.

However, they did spend three hours just to find enough monsters to get Amelia to fifty crystals.

Their rate of encountering monsters and farming crystals certainly lowered.

Amelia's rank up bestowed her with a new skill named Telekinetic Push.

The skill was pretty self-explanatory as it was just a push.

More precisely, Amelia pushed everything a meter in front of her away via an invisible telekinetic force.

It felt like a big gust of wind.

The ability lacked any lethality but it should be strong enough to push a fully armored orc back to his butt.

It was another form of crowd control for Amelia in case anything got too close to her.

The expedition ended when they finally got to Amelia to rank up.

People at the hotel were startled when they saw Oxyotl with Kennen and his friends and got up in arms.

Fortunately, some of them had game knowledge and understood what a familiar was and the matter was resolved, but it wasn't without Michael's sneering remarks.

However, he quickly shut up when Evan mentioned the debt he had to pay to them.

Kennen did notice disapproval on the faces of other inhabitants of the hotel when this matter was brought up, Michael probably spinned the story to them so he came out in a more favorable light.

Not that he cared about their opinion on them.

Kennen and his friends didn't plan to share living space with them for long and none of them had the time or the power to look out for random strangers.

Oxyotl instantly took over the wolf cubs when they got back to the hotel in Amelia's dismay.

Apparently, he wanted to potty train them first.

Oxyotl did that by growling at them and yet the cubs seemed to understand him.

The strange thing was those cubs barely looked to be over a week old but they could already eat solid food.

Kennen thought that small cubs like that had exclusively milk for a while but he guessed that those cubs were just built different.

The cubs were a little source of joy for their group, after all, who didn't like cute puppies?

So everyone was playing with them whenever Oxyotl wasn't training them.

The next day was another day they had to go out for exploration again.

However, with the dwindling monsters populace as days went on, they spent more time roaming around the streets than actually killing monsters.

But Kennen had an idea on where to go and it was a place he was near certain was filled with monsters, the embassy.

The last time they went to the embassy, it was crawling with pig orcs and even armored orcs.

He didn't know if the invasion at the hotel by the pig orcs five days ago changed any of that but there should at least be plenty of monsters there.

Kennen was confident that their team could now take head on twenty or so pig orcs with four of them at rank F+ now since the power up was no joke.

"What do you guys think?" Kennen asked his friends after proposing to go to the embassy.

"Sure, I'm always ready to pummel some piggies!" Evan said.

"It's only normal to take on tougher opponents as we level up!" Enzo said confidently.

"No complaints on my side." Rafael also agreed.

The other three members of the team also agreed, even Brandi.

With everyone coming to a decision, they set out for the embassy while leaving the cubs at the care of Nina and Jordan.

The embassy was west of the hotel and it took them around ten minutes to reach there.

They encountered a couple pig orcs on the way but they were quickly hunted down by the goblins.

Arriving at the embassy, Kennen saw it was still packed with pig orcs although lesser than the first time they came here.

From far away, Kennen could count ten to fifteen of them around the area and among them, there was an armored pig orcs but it was safe to assume there were more pig orcs inside the building.

"What's the plan?" Evan asked.

"We blitz in." Kennen suggested, "Take those orcs by surprise and lay it all on them right from the beginning to reduce their number as fast as possible. Evan, you take care of the armored guy."

Since nobody had any objection to Kennen's plan, they all readied themselves to charge in.

Evan was the first to charge in with Frank and Brandi following closely behind.

They completely ignored the pig orcs at the checkpoint and directly charged into the embassy and toward the door where the armored orc was hanging out.

The few at the checkpoint fell at the arrows and javelins of Enzo and the goblins before they even could get close to Evan's group.

Those at the back followed closely after the frontliners to provide support at any time while Enzo and the goblins shot at anything they saw.

Oxyotl contributed as he intercepted a pig orcs coming toward the backline.

Oxyotl was fast and agile as pig orcs couldn't even touch his hair before he impaled their heads with his trident.

Enzo and the goblins almost killed a pig orc per shot with the help of Rafael.

Their initial assault almost killed off half of the pig orcs before the pig orcs could react and roar.

When they finally shook out the surprise, the pig orcs charged at them as they roared and those roars brought more pig orcs out of the building to the courtyard.

Evan was holding back the armored orc by himself. He could now parry a strike from the orc without being pushed back now but he had reach disadvantage and couldn't use Shockwave unless he struck with both of his hands so it was a bit complicated for him to quickly dispatch the armored orc.

Frank also could take care of himself against multiple pig orcs without help as Kennen thought his rank up at least put him to peak human if not superhuman like Captain America.

He had the speed to back up his quick reactions and the strength to quickly pierce through the fat and muscle of the pig orcs with the javelins.

Brandi was a bit better as she improved day by day but was still watched over Amelia in every single of the fights.

Kennen didn't know whether it was her lack of strength or something else but her attacks were quite weak as her slash only inflicted superficial wounds to the monsters and she had a time stabbing deeply into the monsters without taking a milenia.

At least she wasn't freezing up during a fight or swinging her sword widely anymore.

Rafael was binding the monsters so the goblins and Enzo could get easy shots.

Oxyotl actually had the reach advantage so pierced the head of any close pig orc before they could get close to them.

The number of pig orcs were dwindling down very fast and it would take at most five more minutes before they finished them all off even with more pig orcs coming out of the building.

Then two more armored orcs came out of the building.

Except that armored orcs weren't as terrifying as they used to be for Kennen and his friends.

Especially, after Evan just soloed one of them by breaking the skull of that armored orc with a Shockwave.

Evan just moved to the next one and quickly killed one with a Shockwave to the head with Rafael's help in binding it.

Amelia disoriented the other and Frank quickly pierced his head with the javelin.

With that, the fight ended as they finished hunting every pig orcs in here.

After assembling all the crystals, they confirmed that they had just slayed 23 monsters just now in less than 15 minutes.

That was enough to put Brandi up to 50 crystals with the four remaining crystals going to Enzo.

Brandi took her time to absorb the crystal while Kennen and two of his friends went to explore the embassy.

The embassy wasn't very big and only had three floors.

A lot of documents were scattered everywhere but no sign of humans could be found, no weapon either.

"Hey, I found somthing!" Evan yelled.

Kennen quickly followed the sound of his voice and saw a metallic door on the third floor.

"Can we even open that?"

It looked like quite a thick metallic door and it was closed on the other side.

With how thick it was, that door could probably block a rocket launcher face on without any problem, so there was no way they could get through this.

"I wonder what is on the other side?" Enzo asked.

"With a door like this, there must be something important on the other side." Rafael said.

"This kind of door cost a fortune." Frank added.

"Probably a bunker behind this door." Kennen said.

"I wonder if there's any people inside?" Evan wondered.

"I mean, there should be if they aren't dumb." Rafael said.

"They had to run here after seeing those monsters." Kennen added.

"So what do we do?" Enzo asked.

None of them knew.

They couldn't get through the door or even the wall surrounding the room.

"I don't know, try to yell and ask if there's anybody on the other side." Kennen said.

There was nothing interesting in the embassy anyway except this door.

Brandi and Amelia also came up at that moment and got filled in the situation.

Brandi excitedly explained her new skill to them, it was called Parry.

She could invoke a sword to parry a side she wished but that sword could only be used to parry and it would disappear after parrying a blow for five seconds.

It was a nice defensive skill that was in line with her class power and it felt more like a video game for those who had class powers.

Enzo would probably get a skill that suited his class when he hit 50 crystals too.

Except that Kennen was supposed to have a class type power but he didn't receive a single new skill until now.

Was his power really a class type?

Meanwhile, Evan was yelling and banging the door for five minutes straight without any reactions.

Either there was nobody or they didn't want to come out.

Either way, there was nothing they could do here so Kennen and the rest were about to leave but the metalic door clicked and slowly opened.
