Charles’s POV
"Ah!"
Kevin gave a short cry. His voice sounded strange, as if there was a bone in his throat that could not go up or down.
Apparently, he didn't know this was the scene of the previous murder. He felt guilty when he heard what I said. His trembling voice and legs betrayed him. I know he's scared.
"Eva Clark..." I said slowly, "Oh, she's one of the three girls who were killed by the vampires in the last attack. They died here. Their bodies were soaked in mud and rain. Their stomachs were torn open, and their internal organs could be seen."
"It's... It's horrible..." Kevin's tone sounded uncomfortable, and he looked around cautiously.
"One of them was lying..." I pointed at Kevin's feet.
Before I could finish, he jumped up like a large spring on the soles of his feet.
"... at your feet..." I continued.
Embarrassed by his reaction, Kevin cleared his throat, adjusted his coat, and tiptoed to my side.
