"A mistake?" Maggie and Olivia chorused at the same time while exchanging anxious glances.
"What mistake?" Maggie asked in alarm.
Maggie had an unwavering feeling that something terrible had gone wrong between the couple from the moment Leon mentioned that word, 'mistake'. She felt heat and blood rise to her face as she patiently waited for him to say what was on his mind.
"Before I confess my crime, I want you to promise that you would forgive Ella and take her back as a daughter," Leon said firmly.
"Young man doesn't play games with me," Maggie warned fiercely. "If you have something to say then say it. You do not have any right to bargain with me."
"Leon, please just say it already and free us from this suspense," Olivia pleaded. "I observed that Ella had not been herself since yesterday but she refused to tell me what was wrong."
