Intro

Heyy, my name's Nick Pointe. I'm kind of short, 5'6, my ADHD drives almost everyone crazy, I have almost no volume control and I'm a little too obsessed with my hair. All my childhood I lived in "the closet". Always afraid someone would figure out my secret.

I grew up in a little farm town called Jurard where most people were one track minded. All the boys were expected to play a varsity sports, and all the girls we're supposed to be drop dead gorgeous. I wasn't much of a sports guy. In fact I wasn't very athletic, so I was cast out.

Then I found my own group. There was Maree, my best friend since kindergarten, she was headstrong and confident. There was also Ashten, the comic relief and my first love, we met in Fifth grade. Then there was Tomis, Ashten's cousin, a laid back guy without a big heart. He was our protector. They were my own weird, little family. They all treated me as an equal. That was all I ever wanted.

They called us the outcast, but my friends wore that title with pride. We would rather be called outcast than conform to their heteronormative stereotypes.

My first year of high school, bullies hounded me almost daily. Making fun of me and nearly outed me to the entire community. I couldn't take it anymore. I gave my mother an ultimatum. Either we leave Jurard, or I'd never go to school again. When that school year ended I moved schools twice. High school suddenly became easier when no one knew who I was.

That's how I got to where I am now a senior at Pittsberg High School. A school where no one knew who I was. Pure bliss. I made it through my days chatting with strangers in the halls and doing my assignment. When my 18th birthday came my sign didn't awaken. I thought I was destined to live a life lower than a human. In this world, without your zodiac element, you're considered less than nothing and that's what I am, nothing.
