Chapter 68
“Morning, Dad, Morning, Mo…Rosie.” Cody felt awkward but he wanted to do right.
“Morning, Daddy. Morning, Rosie.” Maria had no such inhibition.
“Morning, dudes. Who wants to go wake your dad to join us for breakfast?” He smiled as both kids ran off to pounce on his unsuspecting partner.
Rosie made one quick comment. “I wonder what my life would have been like with parents like you and Russell.” She smiled sadly but didn’t elaborate.
Once breakfast was over, they sat around and talked, but only until Alicia arrived with members of her band. They all carried instruments. Rosie looked at Peter, clearly puzzled once again.
“Our boy and his sister have been taking lessons. They worked long and hard on making music happen. My sister happened to encourage them and now we’re all about to hear some of what they managed to accomplish.” Peter smiled at his sister.
