Feeding

-----Kaede's POV

Sadly, we couldn't play around in the water yesterday as the wind was quite cold for everyone, so we just spent our time relaxing on the nice, hot sand.

Faye: "I still can't really get used to this."

Fleur: "Yeah."

It's now the next morning, and before everyone else wakes up, I'm feeding both Fleur and Faye. The neck would be the easiest for them to drink from as there's an incredible amount of blood flow there, but I just can't allow myself to do that. My neck is reserved for Yui, but not in terms of feeding. And actually, it's been a while since the last time Yui has drank my blood. I guess Natalie's taken my place, which I don't mind as I feel like feeding these two is already draining enough.

With Faye to my left and Fleur to my right, I expose the underside of my wrist to them as they both gently grab hold of my hands. We've done this a few times now, but they're still nervous about doing this sort of thing. I guess it would be better to drink from a bottle since you can just think of it as some kind of drink, but with this, it's evident as to what it is you're drinking.

Kaede: "Come on, you have to drink, otherwise it'll be difficult for you to function normally."

Faye: "She's right. It was clear to me when we were all at the beach yesterday."

Fleur: "You make it look so easy, Kaede."

Kaede: "You'll get there as well. But for now, you need blood. I'll try to find a better source of blood this week, so just put up with this for now."

Fleur: "...Okay."

And after a few more moments, they both pierced my wrists with their fangs as the sound of them swallowing my blood fills the room. Fleur's gotten a bit better with controlling herself when she drinks, but she's still susceptible to the smells. Faye on the other hand is the opposite. Even now I can tell she's completely lost herself as she desperately tries to drink my blood, despite her having a lot more control of her urges than Fleur.

Kaede: "Faye. Calm down."

Faye: "..."

Fleur: "Sis."

With Fleur having briefly let go of my hand, I smack Faye on the top of her head, causing her to finally regain some of her sanity.

Faye: "S-sorry."

Kaede: "It's okay. You'll get the hang of it."

They go back to drinking my blood, but Faye is still having some difficulty with keeping calm. Every few seconds she goes a bit too aggressive but then quickly catches herself and goes at a more steady pace. I'm actually quite proud of Fleur though as she's remaining calm throughout all of this.

We soon finish up as they both clean their mouths while I heal my wrists. Faye's side was a bit messy due to her getting aggressive at times, but Fleur's was very clean, only having the two initial entry points of her fangs.

Kaede: "How you two feeling?"

Fleur: "Better."

Faye: "Scary. My mind just goes blank at times."

Kaede: "Hehe. Well it's important to train now while you can. You don't wanna accidentally jump a person."

It's likely that I'm the only person who can deal with these two if something bad does happen. We haven't gotten a chance to test anything due to their collars, but once this supervision is done, I'd like to see just how powerful they've become. I'm especially curious if they have the same powers as me. Hmm, actually Mai might know something about it.

Kaede: "Hey, Mai. You there?"

I try to communicate through our mind link, but no response. I know I haven't been talking to her ever since we came here basically, so could this be what they call, the silent treatment?

Kaede: "I have a question regarding vampires. Do you know if their offspring inherit their parent's powers?"

...

Still no response. Actually, I guess it would make sense for Fleur and Faye to inherit my abilities since I would've gotten mine from my father. But due to my unique situation it may be different.

Fleur: "Everything okay?"

Kaede: "Ah, yeah. Sorry, I was just trying to get in touch with Mai."

Faye: "Now that you mention her, I guess I haven't seen her around."

Fleur: "What did she say?"

Kaede: "That's the thing... I couldn't get a response."

Faye: "Isn't she like your familiar or something?"

Kaede: "Well... Actually."

.....

...

I ended up confessing to everyone else after we all gathered downstairs. There's no real point with keeping secrets, but I did refrain from telling them about the true meaning of magic, just from how big of an impact that'd be. But I did talk about who she is, or more specifically what she is.

Sicily: "That's cool! So you have like a god watching over you."

Kaede: "She doesn't call herself one, but I guess she's something similar, yeah. From how Mai described it, she just "watches" over this world."

Although I do have doubts about that. It's like with Neri supervising us. Sure they are watching us, but if we do something stupid, then they'll surely punish us. I'm guessing Mai does have some sort of power over the world, or at least "did" have. She was the one that gave humans magic in the first place.

Faye: "How did she bind herself to you though?"

Kaede: "I'm not sure on the exact details on how she did it, but it happened when I woke up in that carriage incident when I was little."

Lillian: "You sure she's not just a greater spirit?"

Kaede: "No. Actually Mai actually despises spirits as a whole, thinking that they shouldn't exist."

Neri: "...Mai."

Interestingly enough, Neri seems to be wracking their head over something. I can't see their face or tell how they're feeling, but them muttering Mai's name makes me think. Mai did say that these people were the ones that captured her and mom, so I'm sure they learnt of Mai's name now that I think about it.

Kaede: "You probably met her, right?"

Neri: "Yes, but it was quite a while ago now. So you're telling me that you're her master?"

Kaede: "I, guess?"

Neri: "Hah~ That's one less worry to deal with. We didn't get any more info regarding that woman since the last time she was here."

Kaede: "She's safe, don't worry."

Neri: "Well if you can, do bring her-"

Mai: "Tada~"

Suddenly, Mai appears in front of us, startling all of us as she floats in the air before gently landing down onto the wooden floor. I recall the moment where Mai did this when first meeting Fleur... Thank god she's still wearing clothes this time.

Mai: "Sorry. I got caught up with something, but I heard everything you guy's have said."

Neri: "It really is you."

Mai: "Hello again. Oh and to answer your question from earlier, Kaede. Yes, both Fleur and Faye should technically possess your powers, but that's with the knowledge I know of regular vampires."

She could've just said that to me through our minds, but I guess that doesn't really matter. I'm guessing that's the biggest reason why Faye and Fleur are still collared to begin with.

Neri: "Well thank you for joining us. I can write my report and put this matter behind us. But I guess there's no real point collaring you now is there."

Mai: "Nope~"

Neri: "Fine. Do as you please. Just listen to your master."

Mai: "Sure."

I really don't think Neri would be this lenient before, but I guess after spending all these weeks with Neri, it really has given them the opportunity to loosen up a little. I didn't even expect to be allowed to go out on my own to meet with Yui as well. It's sort of feels like this supervision isn't all that bad. They even know how to cook as well, even teaching Sicily and Lillian how to cook in their spare time. It's weird to say, but this sort of feels like a family home in a way.

Kaede: "So, what was your business?"

I ask her through my mind just in case it's something secret.

Mai: "It's nothing. Just had to stay quiet for a bit."

Kaede: "Quiet?"

Mai: "Don't worry about it. Should be fine for now."

Lillian: "Well! With all that out of the way, should we all have breakfast?"

Mell: "Mhmm!"

Well at least for the non-vampires as Fleur and Faye have already had their meal out of me. I guess I'm feeling a little peckish, but that can wait. We all make our way to the table as Neri, Sicily and Lillian make their way into the kitchen. I would offer to help as I do remember learning some stuff from Yui's mom in our past life, but not being able to taste test things and smell the food does make the whole experience a little less enjoyable.

Mell: "Uhm. Mom?"

Kaede: "Hmm?"

Mell: "Could we talk after breakfast?"

Kaede: "Sure."

Strange, It's rare for Mell to approach me with things, and the tone of her voice makes it feel like it's something serious. But I quickly realize that I had placed my head on Mell's head. Maybe it was just out of habit to hopefully calm her down, which does seem to have worked as a big smile grows on her face, infecting me at the same time as I also end up smiling.
