13: INSANE

I got out of the office, only to find Jennie waiting for me outside. She pulled me immediately to the elevator.

"Tell me, what happened how did it go? I tried to listen in but I couldn't hear anything, the rooms are soundproof...wait why are you sad? Wait a minute did she fire you or something? Why are you like this... Oh God, Derrick didn't do what I asked him?.... Lemme call him... Wait what happens now? Are you leaving did she suuk you?...." She loomed really nervous and worried that I had to cut her short.

"Hey, I'm okay... It's cool... She didn't fire me I guess Derrick did it the last minute I needed it.... she was just a little bit rude I guess... my chores for today are, helping with the dirty dishes, checking the compound, and cleaning the swimming pools, and also help in cleaning the rooms..." I said looking at her. She even looked more angry when I said this.

"Is she serious? Does she wanna kill you or something? Did she fire the compound cleaners just so she could find a slave? Do you know how many pools we have here? Do you even know how to clean? Did she say that you should ask for some help?" Well, this sounded scary.

"How many are they? Is it hard to clean them? She said I can manage alone" That's exactly what she told me but from Jennie's expression, I'm thinking otherwise.

" There are five pools here, at least takes two hours to clean one because it's done daily... trust me that's the hardest kind of work you can do especially alone... I'm not sure how long it'll take you to clean them... That stupid old witch" she cursed and I smiled. She was behaving as if she was the one who had been assigned all those duties.

"Why are you smiling? Do you think you can handle the job? I think you should just stop 'cause you'll just be hurting yourself Oceania" she sounded serious and worried, I felt it. If it was something else or maybe I was here because I wanted, it was easier to do that but how can I give up just yet? It's not even twenty-four hours yet! At least I have to try.

"No... It's fine Jennie, I can do it... don't underestimate me..." I said giving a smile that I knew would convince her enough.

"Hey, let me help you start the first one before I start my own shift huh?.... at least ill show you how it's done and we will be able to do it faster," She said and I had to agree. I really needed any little amount of help I could get because it would mean a lot to me. Calculating the hours is I start now, it means I'll have to clean them for ten hours and I still have dishes to help with inside the super big kitchen and I still have to help in cleaning the rooms.

Fully changed into some baggy working full pants, we were ready for the task. We started with Vacuuming the surfaces of the pool and then Skimming debris from the water's surface. We had no time beacsuemse Jenny was to start working in an hour so we had to do it as fast as possible so that I will be done with the first pool before she leaves. Then we had to start Scrubbing surfaces including the walls and steps and Emptying the skimmer baskets. We had to ensure that the filters were running efficiently before checking the water's ph.

" To balance pool water, there are four steps that we need to follow, one is testing and adjusting total alkalinity, then testing and adjusting ph, measuring and adjusting calcium hardness, adding sanitizer to the water, checking and adjusting cyanuric acid, measuring the water total dissolved sold and then shocking the swimming pools.... thanks to google we have done all of that," she said as we sat beside the pool.

" Hey, so what if someone wants to swim right now can they?" I asked because some were already coming out.

"Nope, they will have to chill for about two hours to use this one, and people rarely swim I'm the morning... So after cleaning each pool, it takes two hours for it to be used.

She checked her phone and immediately stood up. At first, I was scared because I thought that she had seen something.

"It's eight thirty am... Lemme go before that which comes for me here... I need to co and get changed before she notices I'm not around" she slightly hugged me and then ran off. So this was one look I was done with. We had taken one hour thirty minutes when it was the two of us and now I guess it will take me two hours for each remaining pool.

I didn't want to sit any longer even though I was tired. If I continued sitting then that meant i'd be wasting time and I still have four pools to clean let alone the other chores I had been assigned. The woman had said that she would be coming to inspect the pools too and I didn't want her to find me comfortably seated, admiring the sun that I have never seen clearly before, only its reflection in the water. I had mastered everything that we had done with Jennie, good thing I'm super good when it comes to memory and not fighting things so doing this will be a little bit easier for me.

Every now and then Jennie came to check on me carrying some snacks. The look on her face each time she came was full of sympathy but I smiled just to show her I was okay. I didn't want to see her this worried, I mean she clearly cares about me so I had to pretend to be a superhero and act like I am doing everything perfectly fine. By the time I was done, the sun was already on the other side of the sky. It was four pm. Honestly, I was super tired and wished that I could use some superpowers. My whole body was aching and I felt so weak, so weak that I felt tired of handling my own body. I didn't want to bother Jennie so I went to the office and told Lady Sam to come and inspect it.
