Chapter 13

SELENE

A few minutes after Venia stopped banging on the door of my room, I broke down in tears as I reminisced about my peaceful life back in my pack.

Although Steve and I had our differences Before I was taken away by Devon, I still miss him.

Flashback

A few months ago

"Let's go for a walk, my princess," Steve said, bowing slightly, causing me to laugh

I pounced on him, wrapping my legs around his waist. I pulled the collar of his shirt for a violent kiss. I chuckled after I pulled away from him. His expression brought a smile to my face, as always.

"What? You didn't expect a kiss from me?" I asked playfully, hitting his shoulder as I jumped down from him.

"Come, let me show you something," Steve said, beckoning for me to follow him outside

I chuckled, wondering the kind of surprise that he planned for me this time.

 I followed him out of the room to the garden, one of my favorite places in the pack house

"Close your eyes, it's a surprise," Steve whispered into my ear. Feeling his hot breath on my skin made me want to grab his collar again and kiss him. The mate bond between us was strong and I could feel it grow every day.

 Steve took out a blindfold from his back pocket and blindfolded me, leading me deeper into the garden

"What is it that you want to show me" I asked. My curiosity took over and I couldn't wait to remove these blindfolds.

"Relax Selene, we're almost there," Steve said and soon he stood walking and slowly took off the blindfold, whispering into my ears, "You can open your eyes now" 

I slowly open my eyes only to see a beautiful picnic arrangement, just the both of us in the garden surrounded with beautiful flowers and taking in the scent of nature into our lungs

"This is beautiful," I muttered, taking a good look around the place. I took my phone out of my pocket to take a picture.

"This is surely a memory that we need to show our pups," I said and took the picture. I turned the camera to my face and Steve I took another picture and grinned.

"Now let's eat," I said, realizing that Steve had been staring at me the whole time

"What?" I asked and chuckled softly while trying to sit comfortably on the blanket that he spread on the floor

"You're just so beautiful that you take my breath away Selene, I honestly don't know what I can do without you," Steve said

End of flashback

The chirping sound of the bed outside my window prompted me back to reality

"What a liar," I whispered at what Steve said to me before I found out that he was cheating on me.

"But I miss you now, I fucking miss you Steve, a lot," I whispered to no one in particular

I fell completely on the bed, rolling from one angle to the other, i didn't have enough last night because a lot of things clouded my mind. Being in a strange land with no friends made me feel very weak.

"Fuck you Devon," I cussed while clutching my fingers together, forming a tight fist

I stood from the bed pacing back-and-forth thinking of my pack, "I wish that I could get the hell out of here right now, I'm sick of this place" I said as I pulled out the chair opposite the vanity and I sat on it as I gaze at my reflection on the mirror

I closed my eyes, feeling miserable, and wiped up the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes.

"Moon goodness, please hear me, please get me out of the hell that I have found myself," I prayed. I had become thin and dark circles were evident around my eyes because I couldn't fall asleep at the thought of being in a strange and unfamiliar land.

"Moon goodness, please, for the sake of my pack, for the sake of the people I love, for the sake of the pups in my pack, and the sake of my ungrateful mate, Steve, get me out of here. I beg you, please," I said, letting the tears that welled up in my eyes fall freely.

I gulped down the saliva in my mouth and gazed down at my hands. At this point, I didn't care what I do. I don't care about anything but to leave this damn place and go back to my pack, to the people I love.

I stood up from the chair and kicked the chair in anger before sitting on the bed. I brought my hands up to my hair, trying so hard to stop thinking of happy memories with Steve because it only made me cry more.

Flashback

"What's wrong? What's the matter Selene" Steve asked. This was even before we were mates, but I already had a crush on him.

"Nothing, it's nothing" I lied after it was obvious that I was lying and I was fucking bad at it. How the hell would I say that nothing was wrong and I'm crying profusely?

"Don't tell me that crap, don't lie to me that this something fell into your eyes 'cause I'm not buying that," Steve said. I had no choice but to admit that I wasn't fine.

End of flashback

The abrupt knock on the door caught my attention, and I swiftly turned. "The fuck!" I thought, the door was locked from the outside, but I also locked it from the inside and only Devon can use his powers to unlock it from the inside.

"The fuck out of my door," I said while wiping off the tears that welled up in my eyes

The knocking continued, but no words followed. I stood to my feet and approached the door to peep through it. 

I hissed after seeing that it was a blonde-haired maid and I unlocked the door of the room.
