…..
Xiling Agency.
Soo Min gazed at the busy workers running around back and forth, through the glass panels of the elevator.
From the moment they had walked into the building, she shot questioning looks at Ryan wondering why he had brought her to a top security agency.
Pressing her hands against the glass, she sighed as she stared blankly at the bustling atmosphere of the company and the hundred other glass capsule-like elevators, some of which going down and others going in the same direction as them.
"Why are we here?" Soo Min said, finally breaking the silence.
Folding his arms across his chest, Ryan said "To get you a bodyguard."
"What?" Soo Min yelled, before taking large strides towards him, "But why? This is so pointless. Let me tell you if your doing this just so you can constantly keep an eye on me, give it up!"
At that point, Ryan straightened his back and no longer leaned against the glass wall. When Soo Min felt him invading her personal space, she stumbled back, only to be backed up against another wall.
Placing his hands on either side of the wall, just a few inches from her head, Ryan smiled and Soo Min gulped as he closed their previous distance.
"Trust me, if I wanted to keep watch over you, I don't need another person to do that for me." He gazed softly as her cheeks reddened.
"But this is different. Since I can't always be with you, more so because you won't let me, I need to make sure that you're safe. So, I decided that I'm going to get you a personal bodyguard." Ryan informed as the elevator dinged, reaching the 100th floor.
'First my dad, now him. This is really the worst.' Soo Min sighed at thought of how similar her father and Ryan were in terms of their stubbornness.
Ryan pulled back and turned to face the elevator's front as the doors slowly opened. Enveloping her hand in his, he tugged at it before leading them out of the elevator.
"I-I can walk on my own, ya know." Soo Min said flustered, as she tried to avoid the stares of the line of bodyguards standing across the hallways.
'With this man, I will seriously die of embarrassment one day.' She mused.
...
At Xiling Executive's Office.
"These are our company's finest bodyguards, many of which are trained in combat skills overseas while others are ex military generals." A middle aged man proudly introduced the two side by side lines of stoic men.
As he introduced their names and top abilities, Soo Min tried her best to stifle her yawn. It took around an hour for the introduction of seventy-five candidates, yet to Soo Min all she see was the figures of the men in black and their names were a blur in her memory, except for maybe the last member whose late arrival was the only impression left on her.
"So who would you like to choose, President Song?" The company executive asked with a professional smile.
Ryan turned to look at Soo Min, but only chuckled at the unbothered look on her face and yawning sounds escaping her mouth.
Returning his attention back to the men in front of him, Ryan listed a few names that he thought were best fit for the job after looking at their resumes in detail, last weekend.
"Soo Min, who do you think is best out of these five men?" Ryan asked as he intently stared at the line of men in black in decisive thought.
Soo Min stared at the faces blankly, scanning across the line of expressionless men.
"I pick him." Soo Min pointed a finger at a tall man standing at the far left. Once again, she yawned before she started to walk towards the doors and said, "If there's nothing else, can we go now? It's quite late and I'm hungry too."
Ryan chuckled and nodded. Turning towards the middle aged executive, he said, "Please email my
secretary all the necessary documents to be filled out."
"Yes, of course." The executive gladly answered.
…..
"What made you choose him over the others?" Ryan asked curiously as they walked across the parking lot.
The past few days, Ryan spent quite a lot of time trying to decide the top candidates amongst the list of men given, but it was harder than he thought as it concerned Soo Min's safety, he couldn't just choose on a whim.
Even after finalizing it down to five bodyguards, he had no clue which one would be best suited for her as they all had strengths and skill sets in certain areas that could not be overlooked and their applications made them as good as the others. Therefore, he was unable to pick the best amongst them.
"Simple. I just picked the most good looking one." Soo Min nonchalantly answered.
Instantly, Ryan stopped in his tracks.
