The Victor

Just as Louis came into the room, Gabriel lunged at him, stake ready and poised to strike. Louis quickly side-stepped and flung himself out of harm's way.

Gabriel snarled, "You will die tonight. Montpierre."

"If so, then have fun when my entire family converges on you."

Gabriel froze for a moment. "Your family?"

"Yes, my father, mother, and sister will have their revenge should you kill me tonight."

"Impossible. They're just rumors!"

"No, the three original families exist. The Montpierres, the Renetellis and the Woods are very real and very powerful."

Gabriel paled even further than he already was. Then he growled and lunged again. Louis dodged and came up from behind him.

"Never mess with an Original Vampire," he warned quietly.

Then he plunged the stake into Gabriel's back, up above the fourth rib, straight into his heart. Gabriel choked and suddenly turned to ash.

Louis stepped back, dropped the stake, and let out a huff. He looked at his wounds and went into the kitchen.

Giselle was worried. She felt an odd feeling tugging at her heart.

Louis's in danger, she realised.

Then she stood up and turned to the Noirs.

"Hey guys, I'm going back to the house to check on Louis. You guys can stay here, okay?"

They protested, but Giselle just shook her head and left anyways. She headed out of the hotel and walked back to her house. At the front door, she pulled out her key and unlocked the front door. Inside, she immediately sensed something horribly wrong.

"Louis?" she called.

There was no answer. Fear crept into her icy cold veins. Dread pooled in her stomach.

"Louis?" she cried louder.

Then she heard a noise coming from the kitchen. Cautiously, Giselle headed over there. In the corner, she saw a shadow and screamed. Suddenly, a hand was over her mouth in an instant.

"Shh. I'm okay. Everything's okay," Louis murmured to her.

Giselle began to sob. "I thought you were dead. I got this feeling and came home. Then I smelled blood..."

"It's okay. I'm okay. You're safe now."

"Louis, what happened here?"

"Nothing for you to worry about, mon amour. Let's go get some sleep."

Then he picked her up and she cried out happily. He whisked her upstairs and towards their bedroom. On their bed, he set her down and snuggled in behind her.

"Louis, I love you."

"I love you to, mon amour. Now get some sleep. I'm right here. No one's going to harm you."

Giselle fell asleep with Louis's arms wrapped protectively around her.
