As Varya was discharged from the hospital, she had the desire to run away and never look back.
She asked herself: could she make a life for herself in a city as vast as this? Maybe she would be able to disappear entirely if she decided to go through with it. She would take even the lowest-paying jobs to get out of going back to the brothel. Her mind was racing to find solutions now that she had another life to worry about.
As she reached the main door, the mild temperature outside hit her as the door slid open and revealed the wide street in front of the hospital. The urge to run away quickly dissipated when she saw one of the guards from the brothel standing in front of the hovercar she had used with Armis before.
Nothing had changed, she realized. She was still a prisoner in this life, and she had to comply to avoid being sent back to Emperor Kruos.
