"That's no minor offence, my dear, I only hope Clarissa is ready for what is coming."
"What do you mean… Clarissa is his sister," Grace pointed out, not that Rose needed any reminder since she was their mother. Shouldn't he at least give her some leeway, as his little sister?
Rose shook her head. "It's like you don't understand the place you hold in my son's life. It will be his highest act of mercy if it ends with just sending Clarissa out of his house."
Grace blinked, startled. "I… I don't understand." Her mind drifted, wondering what that might mean for Rufus, who wasn't even related to Jace.
"You'll understand with time, my dear, finish your food."
Grace had no choice but to obey the older woman and when she was done eating, she accompanied Charles until he was ready for bed.
After she was done putting Charles to sleep she returned to her room which she hadn't slept in for the past two days.
