Was he ready to overlook Charles's well- being by his selfish demands? He wasn't that foolish to force her to the point where it would affect her commitment to Charles's wellbeing but still, he pushed a little bit.
"I understand your point but I'm also considering what's best for Charles," he argued in a somewhat strained voice. "Charles needs stability and you've provided that stability for him. We can't risk having him go back to his previous shell again. It would mean everything you've done so far is in vain."
Grace took a deep breath, steeling herself. "Sir, I know you want to protect him, but this," she gestured to the document on the table, "isn't it." You're trying to control something you can't. Please, also understand where I'm coming from."
For a moment, Jace remained silent, his jaw set, his eyes avoiding hers.
