Chapter eleven

An ordinary morning included waking up to the beeping noise of your alarm then walking to school after a good breakfast and meeting up with friends at the entrance to catch up on the events of the previous day. That is ordinary teenage behaviour.

However, my case was far from the norm. Instead of chatting it up with friends while eating my lunch before school even starts, I found myself in the boys' locker room locked in one of the changing stalls, half of my body hanging out the window in an attempt to escape.

This was just my nonexistent luck working its magic. I should just change my name to Jinx, cause that's all I stood for. Bad luck.

"Could you, like pull me out?"

I asked the stranger with a pleading look in my eyes. Looking back at me in shock I gave her a look that said "hello".

Couldn't blame her though. I mean what would you do if you were just taking a nice stroll in the morning only to be stopped by a strange girl who had half her body through a window? I'm honestly surprised she's still standing there.

"How-how'd you even end up like that?"

She asked with a look of utter confusion. Nonchalant about the whole thing at least pretending to be, cause on the inside I was just freaking right the fudge out! I answered,

"Uhm....it's kinda a long story-"

"I have time"

Cutting me off she crossed her arms and perked her hip tapping the index finger on her arm waiting for me to start the tale.

"U-Uhm, I don't think we have much time though. I kinda feel like my intestines are being torn apart here. So can I at least tell you when I'm out?"

"Hmmm.."

Closing her eyes deep in thought the tapping on her arm increased in speed. Behind me, I could hear the banging of the door increase in speed. A loud voice from behind the stall yelled out. It was a boy who stood right outside my door. This frightened me even more than I already was.

Again I tried pushing myself through the window, palms flat on the wall I pushed with all my might but to no avail. Feeling the discomfort of my skin scraping against the window bar immediately I stopped and winced in pain.

"Haaah"

Releasing a heavy sigh I gave up on the fruitless effort and decided to hang there like a pile of meat.

"Alright, I guess I could help you out."

With a bored expression, she stared at me with a disinterested look. My eyes widened in both shock and relief at her words.

"Thank you, thank you so much!"

Forgetting I was in a very difficult position, in excitement I held my arms up in victory. A bad idea on my part since the only thing preventing me from being split into two was the hands perched against the wall, holding my upper body up.

"Yeah yeah, let's just....let's just get this over with."

Rolling her sleeves up to her elbows she prepared to help me. Cracking her neck she also bounced up and down like an MMA fighter for a warm-up. My eyes narrowed down in a "really?", sort of manner.

Was she preparing for the Olympics or something? She's just going to pull me outta a small hole, no need to go overboard with a warm-up.

"I-"

*Bang*

The banging of the door was starting to really get to me now. It sounded like whoever was on the other side was not letting this go. It's like he had some beef with the inanimate object.

"Dude, stop you'll break it!"

"That's the point"

The guy violating the door spoke with anger.

"If Coach finds out you broke yet another door, you're dead."

"Yeah, just let it go. Whoever's in there clearly doesn't want to be disturbed."

His friends tried to reason. By the sound of their voices there seemed to be about three people standing behind my hiding space now. If he breaks the door down, he'll have a perfect view of my ass and I'll have the pleasure of being labelled a creep.

That cannot happen!

"Would you hurry up please!"

Without thinking I raised my voice in annoyance at the girl taking her sweet time to rescue me. I know she was helping me out here but she really was taking her time, wasn't she?

"Hey, did you hear that?"

The assaulter asked his two buddies.

"It sounded like a girl's voice."

One pointed out making my eyes widen further in panic as I began to struggle even more. The pain in my abdomen was intolerable and to be honest the adrenaline pumping through my veins numbed out all feeling other than that of fear.

"Hurry up!"

I screamed to the Asian girl now stretching her legs out. Seriously just help me out, will you?

"Alright, geez. No need to scream your head off you know? I'm helping you here."

Well, mind helping me out a little faster?

"You heard that one right?"

"Yeah, I did."

"Is there really a chick in there?"

The conversation behind the locked door progressed and it was then that I really went wild. In a desperate attempt, I slammed my palms against the wall. As if that would help. What was it gonna do? Get hurt for getting hit and decide to spit me out?

"Woah, hold still okay?"

Walking closer to where I was, the mystery girl held her hands out to me and without a second thought, I latched mine onto her arms. Once our hands were safely secured on the other, she began pulling.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch"

"Suck in your stomach"

Following her instructions, I suddenly felt myself move bit by bit through the open space. Deciding she needed more leverage, she placed a foot against the wall and once again pulled back with all her might.

A sudden smile of hope began to appear on my lips but immediately was wiped off when I heard the crack of a door. Looking back at the locked door, I saw that the guy had managed to loosen a screw connected to the door on the wall.

That's when I just flipped. All alarms ran into my head and my brain could no longer register everything happening around me. All that ran through it were the words "get away!".

"Oh my gosh hurry up!"

"I'm trying geez."

The banging behind me just got louder as a sound of a metallic object falling to the floor with a cling rang out the room. That's when my brain decided; yeah let's go wild.

Freaking out now, I began flailing my legs around trying to use the force they created to get me out to freedom. Naturally, when I freak out I always want something to grab ahold of and since there wasn't anything other than the girl helping me out of this mess, I did the dumbest thing ever. I took a hand full of her hair and used her head as leverage to pull myself out.

"Wh-wait, stop! That's my hair!"

She screamed in pain but all I heard was "escape", could you blame me though I was panicking here!

One hand full with her hair in a tight grasp, the other grabbed ahold of her left arm, digging my fingers into her skin. I'm sure it hurt like hell having a crazy girl pulling your hair while simultaneously digging into you like that.

But I didn't care at the moment, I just wanted out of there.

Being the nervous wreck that I was, I grabbed ahold of her head with both arms and hugged it to my chest. Again, I was panicking here so I had no idea why I was doing what I was doing.

"C-can't breathe"

"Help. Me."

I cried out to her, bits of tears dripping from my eyes.

"Just hold still I can't help you if you don't let go, ok?."

Listening to her words, I loosened my hold on her with a shaky breath. Slowly she peeled the rest of my arms off from around her head and once again grabbed ahold of them.

Pulling again, foot on the wall she leaned back with all her weight and with one final heave, I slipped right through the window and on top of the poor girl. her back fell onto the grass breaking her fall and our heads banged together in the process.

At the same time, I was freed from the confines of that wretched window, I heard the cluttering of a door falling onto the ground. My eyes widened in panic and without thinking I grabbed both my bag and the stranger's hand and ran in the opposite direction. Far from there.

"Hey, get back here!"

I heard the loud voice of one of the boys behind us, but I did not dare to turn back and risk my face being exposed. Leaving the over-angered male with high levels of testosterone coursing through his veins, we left him in the dust.

Rounding up a corner I ran a little further until I felt that it was safe enough for us to stop. Letting go of the hand I'd been holding on to I bent down with my hands on my knees trying to get back the air I had lost in my lungs.

Damn, I really am outta shape huh?

Suddenly remembering the presence of the person who had saved me from my demise standing beside me, I looked at her from the corner of my eye and could see her also trying to catch her breath.

Turning my head at her to get a closer look I could see how beautiful she was. I know I was hugging her head not too long ago but it was easier to see her without the adrenaline and fear rushing through your whole body, ya know?

Taking a big breath I stood up to my full height and after a second or two released it back into the wild. Giving my lungs time to recover back to their normal breathing.

The girl next to me soon followed suit. She closed her eyes in contempt, once they opened immediately they sprung on mine. Taken aback by this, I flinched at the piercing look in her eyes.

"You-"

Cutting her off mid-sentence I pointed in a random direction and said in a loud panicked voice,

"Oh my gosh is that King Kong!"

Her head whipped in the direction I was pointing at and taking that as an opportunity I took off in the opposite direction.

Can't believe that actually worked!

Running into the school I soon found myself swarmed by a sea of students. Slowing down my pace to match it with everyone else's I blended in with the crowd. So if those guys come looking for me they wouldn't even suspect me. Good thing they didn't see my face.

Not to mention that Asian girl, if she came looking for me I highly doubt she'd find me so easily.

Hehehe, I'm so smart.

Just then the bell signalling the start of the first lesson rang out through the halls. Once a slow-paced sea suddenly turned into speedy out-of-control rapids. Swept along the stream I found myself somehow in front of my first lesson of the day. Safe and unscathed.

Well, that's what I call express mail.

Walking inside the class, already a few students sat in their respective places. Finding my spot at the very back, I carelessly dropped my bag onto the table and did the same with myself on the chair.

Sighing out loud I felt my eyes drop in fatigue. I was exhausted.

The day hasn't even begun and already I did so much cardio and had a very eventful thirty minutes or so. Leaning on my hand to support my head I released yet another sigh. This one much longer than the last.

I'm so not looking forward to school today. Maybe I could skip it? But then that'd mean receiving a far worse punishment than the torture of getting useless information drilled into my skull.

Mom would murder me if ever I ditched school, no she'd skin me alive!

Eyelids too heavy to be kept open, I slowly closed them. Head still leaning on one hand, elbow perched up on the table. The scrapping of the chair next to me being pulled back wasn't enough to force my eyes open in curiosity.

However, the voice coming from my side was a different story.

"Mind if I sit here?"

My eyes whipped open faster than the speed of light, there sitting beside me was none other than Adam in all his glory.

I felt drool slowly make its way out from the corner of my lip but before he could see it I wiped it clean off my lips. Giving him a bright smile, a complete one-eighty turn from my previous sloth state I said to him with enthusiasm,

"Of course."

Could this be the start of our short-term, long-term relationship to get closer to one another? Could this be the development I've been waiting for?
