Long behind them were the Accursed Plains, and before Alyssa and Derek towered great mountains, but in-between that was a twisted valley with a series of labyrinth like passages that weaved their way through the valley. Yet across the entire valley were solid stone statues of people, creatures, beings of all kinds; the only thing they had in common was the expression of total horror. Some of the statues had faded with time, but the expression remained the most animated feature of each one.
“What is this place?” Derek asked with an edge of apprehension as he stood to his feet and gazed upon all of the horrified faces of stone.
“The domain of a gorgon,” Alyssa softly stated as she stepped forward and examined one of the nearby statues.
“I didn’t think that they existed.” Derek said.
