Chapter 40

Standing at the entrance of Smallville High with a bag slung over his shoulder and wearing a plaid shirt. Leonardo, who was an inch or two smaller than Clark looked at him who was dressed very similar to him. A clear dislike for what is about to happen written across his face.

"I know many tend to wish to relive their highschool days, I just wasn't one of them." Leonardo grumbled.

"Technically you have already been reliving them since freshman year." Clark added. "Besides it's not too bad, only a few months and a year then you're done…again."

"Yeah, but I could have said I graduated early when generating my paperwork, but it would bring attention or you say." Leonardo glared lightly at him. "Besides, we already learned everything and much more advanced topics even before building the fortress."

"It will be fine and it's not like you're the only one starting today. I heard there is another guy starting too." Clark smiled as he pushed him forward.

After going to the guidance office and getting his schedule and a guide for the school. Leonardo grumbled as he found out the guide the school assigned him. For it was one Lana Lang and even asking to switch, the staff just said this could fix the issue between them.

'Ha, jokes on them, I already know how to navigate this school. So no way am I going to follow Lana's introduction to this school.' Leonardo thought to himself.

Next to him as he exited the office was a teen with light brown hair, who wore a gray sweatshirt and tried to curl up into a ball. He seemed to try and navigate without touching someone and each time he did, he would grab his head.

Choosing to ignore it as he vaguely guessed who this guy was. If he guessed, he either was getting flashes like Cassandra did or he just really disliked others. Either way, Leonardo was going to avoid trying to touch him for the time being.

'Now, what is my first class,' Leonardo thought as he looked at the schedule. 'Art class, let's go.'

--

"Clark!" Leonardo roared as he walked into the Torch.

"Leo!" Clark loudly said back, before going back to a normal voice. "Having a good first day?"

"No, it's terrible. I can't even enjoy my art class. Do you know why? It is because Lana has been in every. single. one." Leonardo grumbled. "She seems hell bent on ruining my day and did you know that I had three different searches by different teachers for alcohol? All because I took a sip of my water bottle."

Turning to the other person in the room, Chloe was looking at him slightly confused.

"You've been in town for a week, you seem to have a strong opinion of Lana." Chloe asked, clearly confused about the strong dislike.

"Let's say their first meeting was when Lana was in one of her moods and leave it at that." Clark said. "Lana also seems to think Leonardo is an alcoholic due to mistaking his lack of balance when he arrived and was sick for the last week."

"Oh." Chloe nodded while sending a few strange glances at him.

"So let's get back to my wayward transfer student I am supposed to guide." Clark changed topics.

Leonardo huffed as he grabbed a chair and sat down. Rolling around the desk, he looked at Chloe's computer screen to see what the two were looking at. Which as it turns out to be a newspaper article about a roller coaster accident.

"Did something happen for you to run a full background check on him?" Leonardo asked. "You wouldn't just naturally stumble across such an old article from a few quick searches."

"Jordan was acting strange, so I asked Chloe to help me." Clark said. "Haven't found much besides he narrowly escaped a roller coaster accident due to freaking out a bit in line beforehand."

When Clark looked over he saw Jordan walking by, he quickly grabbed the map and his bags. While he was exiting the door, his words drifted back to them. "Got to go." with him vanishing around the corner.

"Must have seen his wayward charge he is supposed to guide." Leonardo said. "Now, Chloe, does the Torch have a section for Art Articles?"

"I won't say no to open a column, but you have to try to convince me over coffee." Chloe smiled with a bit of flirting and smugness.

Leonardo smiled a bit, "I guess I will check and see if I can join the chess team then."

His smile only grew as he saw Chloe's slightly smug smile falter at his words. While he wouldn't mind Chloe as a friend he had no desire to date her. He has been infected by Clark over the years he was a part of him and can't see her as anything more than a friend.

--

It was disappointing to say the least as Leonardo fought the chess team. They weren't half bad for the ones that play as a hobby, but the club leader. For someone who bragged about going pro was the most disappointing. Leonardo utterly destroyed him near effortlessly as he found his bragging a tad annoying. Hence, while gaining a few friends to play chess with once in a while, the club leader refused to allow him to join.

Hence, after school, Leonardo ran to the fortress for a while. Now before him, on a crystal pillar, he was playing chess with the A.I of Jor-El. It was a very intense game to say the least as neither wanted to take the first piece of the game. Otherwise the counter attack will be very vicious.

"Is something bothering you, my son?" Jor-El asked after a while. "You seem less…energetic than normal."

"Just going through a phase. I like the Kent's as they are good people except when Jonathan overprotective of Clark triggers. However, while Kal and they want me to stay with them, it feels like I am overstaying my welcome." Leonardo replied. "Not to mention I am semi-forcing Clark to follow a path without as many painful detours as he would make and learn from."

"One universe's knowledge may not apply to this universe's future." Jor-El said. "While you hold some knowledge of various Kal-El's, it does not mean they will all follow that path."

"I know which is why I'm not spilling or running about trying to fix or arrange future events." Leonardo sighed. "It is why I haven't done much in locating Clark's cousin who was supposed to arrive with him."

"So my brother sent his daughter, Kara." Jor-El said as the crystal shook. "She is dangerous, my son."

"Considering her dangerous is a bit of a stretch unless your brother tampered with her memories. Otherwise, she should wake up confused and scared in this foreign world with abilities she has little control over." Leonardo stated. "Truthfully I know less versions of her than Kal, but most of them have her as a confused girl who misses her home."

Jor-El stayed silent for a long moment, while they continued the game of chess between them. Clearly the A.I is trying to comprehend the new information. Since Jor-El left out a few of his emotion knowledge it was having a slightly tough time processing this fact.

"It is not time yet to release her for I fear she is an unknowing pawn of my brother." Jor-El stated.

"Ah, I thought you would say that." Leonardo sighed. "Now let's move onto another topic, what happened to Lional Luthor?"

"When he held the piece his body was activated by the crystal, it became an oracle of Kryptonian knowledge -- a vessel for me to inhabit if ever you or Kal should need me." Jor-El said.

"Is there a way to suppress this effect, because his son is going slightly out of control lately if the news of Luthorcorp's latest shift of business is to go by." Leonardo explained.

"I will see what I can do." Jor-El said.

Later that night, on the news Lionel Luther was back after a few months of inactivity. While he was all smiles, his son was not if his heated glare at him was to go by. Since it was clear Lionel did something he didn't like before appearing on the news.
