Just after closing the door behind her, Paige heard a soft moan coming from the room at the end of the corridor.
'Mind your business Paige Patterson.' A voice screamed in her head.
Yet curiosity took the better part of her.
She turned towards the stairs to continue down but the moans came again and again. Then it kept coming nonstop.
Pushing the silent warning in her head far away to the back of her head, she found herself walking towards the source of the voice.
Luckily for her, she was putting on fur loafers. So, there was little to no sound from her legs. As she followed the source of the voice, she noted that aside her room, there was just one other room on the floor and that was the room the voice was coming from.
Seconds later, she got close to the said room and discovered that the door was slightly open. Just wide enough to see whatever was happening inside the room and what she saw shocked the hell out of her.
Simon Kentley was standing with his back to the door and a lady between his thighs. He moaned while seeking balance with one of his hands stretching out to the bed rails with the other hand holding the lady's head in place.
At this moment, Paige knew she was meant to turn back and find her way to the dining room but she was caught up. Fascinated by the what she was seeing and curious to see more. Not to mention that her whole body was feeling so weird at this point.
'You ought to mind your business.' The voice screamed in her head again.
But, that didn't make her walk away. She stood right there, prying on other people's privacy.
Although at a point, she refused to agree that what those two were doing was private since they left the door open. Yet she knew that was a lame mental argument she was trying to put up in her head, just to feel less guilty of what she was presently doing.
Suddenly, Simon moaned quite loudly and clenched his muscles. Watching him from behind was a big torture for Paige already. But seeing those muscles of his move to rigidity drove her mad with want. He finally fell on the bed gasping for air.
And the weirdest thing happened. Simon's partner caught a glimpse of Paige at the door. She smiled lazily before giving her sultry wink.
Quickly, Paige bolted off from the door and found her way downstairs.
After the scene she just witnessed, she knew she needed to create a reasonable amount of distance between herself and Simon Kentley. Once she got to the stairs, she slowed down her step and tried to calm down with her whole body feeling warm and flushed.
Everyone was already seated comfortably in the dining hall except Simon of cause. Paige walked in on curious eyes that were firmly focused on her.
Mrs. Kentley, her host and patient was seated with two other ladies. She noted how stylishly furnished the dinning room was, just like every other part of the mansion.
"Oh sweetheart, how are you, you must be exhausted from the long trip." Emily Kentley stood up and gave Paige a hug as a sign of welcome. "Come, come.." she called, gesturing towards the table. "Come meet my daughters." She continued dragging Paige softly to her seat at the table.
"This is Annabelle, the oldest and June the youngest." She announced. "It's June's wedding in a couple of weeks and we all came back for it. The engagement party will take place in two weeks from now." Emily went on a narrative toll as the excitement of the forthcoming event took over. She signaled one of the maids to serve Paige's meal.
"We've all been away from the mansion for years now. Everyone pursuing their dreams in another state and country. But we all had to travel several miles to be here, as a family, for June, and for closure as well." Emily added with smiles.
"Ta-da!!" June exclaimed flaunting her ring.
"Ohh! It is so beautiful." Paige complimented at the sight of the gorgeous princess cut diamond engagement ring on her finger.
"Thank you, and it fits so well, doesn't it?" Asked June, showing off her ring some more.
"It does, it is perfect, honestly." Paige confessed.
"Mmm, I think I like you. It is so nice to meet you Paige." June told her.
Showing off a few set of her teeth in a rehearsed smile, Paige nodded. "It's my pleasure.
"And FYI, you look so beautiful in person than most of those Instagram pictures we saw. Don't you ever consider updating your pictures or at least deleting those ones. Believe me, it's better to have a blank profile than those pictures." June started blabbering, but was cut short by her sister.
"Do not mind June please. She is a social media Queen Bee." Anna spoke for the first time.
"Although" she continued. "I honestly think you could use a page revamp on social media. I could take nice pictures of you when I visit the mansion again if you will permit. Unlike my mother, I live and work at Acubana. It's less than two hours drive from here." Anna added.
"Oh, I know. I passed Acubana while driving down here." Paige said happily.
"You drove down here?" Anna asked surprised. "But I thought we sent some funds for your flight. It was even stated in the contract that you should take a flight. My brother sent a car to pick you up from the airport this afternoon. What happened? Why did you drive down?" Anna inquired, curiously.
"Yes, I drove down to." Paige started. "I didn't remember to book my flight early enough. So, the flights coming to Yardstin today were all fully booked. I decided to drive down. I love driving anyway." She lied smoothly. Hoping that the ladies at the table believes her.
"Wow!! Now you know why your son have been grumpy all evening. He sent a car to the airport and it came back empty." June said to her mother while laughing softly.
