Chapter 33 - Book 2 Prologue

During this time as someone who was in charge of guarding the one hundred and three thousand grimoires that Necessarius collected, Index had always been spoiled by many people, could get whatever she wanted and didn't have to work all her life. But right now Index was forced to mop the wooden floors in a long corridor that was in Yuragi Sou.

Index also wasn't wearing the nun's clothes she always wore. Instead, she wears the same kimono that Chitose wears, the special kimono that became the typical uniform for Yuragi Sou's caretaker. Which is also sometimes used by Shizuka, Kirika and Kotori.

Index didn't feel comfortable at all having to mop the floor and wear a kimono at the same time, but she didn't have much choice. Because currently Chitose is watching her working.

When Index made the slightest mistake, Chitose would use her Luck Manipulation to punish Index. And when Index protested to Chitose, the scary look on her face and aura emitted by Chitose scared Index. So she no longer dared to protest.

Because to Index, Chitose was so scary that she no longer had the courage to argue with Chitose.

And before mopping the floor, for the past week Index was also taught how to wash clothes, clean ofuro, cut vegetables, and many other things related to housework.

Of course Index hadn't mastered all these jobs well even though she had been doing them for a week. Because Index is basically not someone who is physically strong and her photographic memory can't help her to do all the things that Chitose puts on her.

In her heart Index felt irritated and angry! She thought why not Chitose, Shizuka or Touma serving her! And she even had to work. And also why didn't Kaori and Stiyl come to pay all the debts she owed, even though a week had passed. Both of them should already have enough money to pay the debt they have right?

Index who had always been spoiled by Kaori and also Stiyl didn't know at all that she wouldn't be able to leave Yuragi Sou any time soon. Because Necessarius's side did not have sufficient funds to pay all the debts she had. Plus Necessarius' side also still owed Hiko so Necessarius' side chose not to make contact with Index for some time.

And because all this time the Necessarius side had also been bothered by Index's unreasonable food costs. Necessarius' party felt that letting Index work at the Yuragi Sou for a while could reduce their expenses a bit and teach her the right way of life. After all, Yuragi Sou was a very safe place for Index, so the Necessarius' didn't have to worry about Index's condition. Plus Yuragi Sou was Hiko Seijuro's territory who was so feared, that people who were aiming for the Grimoire inside Index's head would think twice if they wanted to kidnap Index.

Mitsuari Ayu walks limply while holding Touma's arm (Walks limply on purpose so she can make out with Touma). After being in the hospital for more than two weeks, the Mental Stinger finally recovered and was discharged from the hospital after Touma gave Senzu beans to Ayu. Of course the Senzu beans were not in the warehouse, but his own stock which he kept just in case there was an emergency where he needed Senzu beans.

But unfortunately he completely forgot the existence of the bean, until there was an incident where Index ate the bean by accident. Touma just remembered about the existence of his Senzu beans and realized that he could heal Ayu who was injured in a traffic accident with the beans.

Initially Touma wanted to directly give Senzu beans to Ayu. But Heaven Canceller who doubts the efficacy of Senzu beans forbids Touma to give the beans to Ayu and decides to research first whether Senzu beans are safe to eat or not.

After waiting for six days, Touma did not receive any news from Heaven Canceller either. Because he was impatient, Touma called his grandfather and asked Hiko to help Heaven Canceller allow Ayu to eat Senzu beans. And sure enough, in just twenty-four hours, Ayu was allowed to eat Senzu beans by Heaven Canceller thanks to Hiko's help.

Heaven Canceller looks very annoyed when he sees Ayu eating something unreasonable like Senzu beans. He had researched the bean for six days, but his research had yielded absolutely nothing. As the greatest doctor in the world, his pride is disturbed because he can't reveal the secret of a mysterious bean that can heal wounds from his patients in an instant.

And he was annoyed that he couldn't prevent one of his patients from eating something unfamiliar like Senzu beans.

"Heaven Canceller-Sensei looked annoyed when I ate Senzu beans which had healed my wound," Ayu said who was still holding Touma's arm tightly. "How much does he hate something he doesn't know?"

"He really is that kind of person," Touma said with a sigh. "But I can't hate Heaven Canceller, because he is a dedicated doctor who never discriminates against any patient. Although there were some decisions he made causing trouble for my grandfather to take care of."

"Well, at least he is a good doctor who cares about his patients," Ayu said with a smile. "It's rare to find someone like him in this world."

"Instead of talking about Heaven Canceller, it would be better if we talked about you who is already officially a Level five Esper," Touma said with a smile. "Congratulations on your appointment as number eight of Level five, Ayu."

"Ehehehe, although it's a bit late, I can finally become Level Five," Ayu said while rubbing her head. "It took a long time because the facility that used to house me was no longer willing to spend money to make me level Five. Luckily Hiko-san wanted to sponsor me, so I can become a Level Five like I am now."
