Chapter 5

7/9/2046

Colin was in Chad's room, resting on his bed, when the door opened. Colin raised his head and slowly opened his eyes. Standing in front of him was Chad, who stared at him. Colin jumped from the bed and ran over to him.

"I've missed you," Colin said, hugging him tightly. Realizing that he didn't sign his words, he pulled away and blushed.

"Don't be ashamed; I heard every word," Chad said with a smile.

"I'm so glad," Colin said, hugging him again.

"By the way, why are you in my room, wearing my shirt?" Chad asked, pulling away and glancing at him with a puzzled look.

Colin rubbed the back of his neck and grinned awkwardly. "I better go." "I'll give your shirt back tonight," he said. Colin waved goodbye and rushed out of the room and to his room. Chad unpacked his bag and put everything away. When he heard a chirp outside his window, he stopped what he was doing. He stepped up to the window and looked out.

"Sister, I heard a bird talk," he said, facing Rose and grinning from ear-to-ear. Then he noticed something white under his pillow. Chad reached over and pulled out a piece of paper. He opened it and saw that it was the note that he had written to Colin.

Chad rushed out of his room and headed over to Colin's room. Breathing heavily, he knocked on the door. When the door opened, Colin stood with one of his shirts in his hands.

"Hi, are you needing your shirt now?" he asked. "I can get it," he said, turning to face his bed.

"I don't need it," Chad said. "You can keep it." "I brought this," he said, handing Colin the note. "You forgot it in my room," he said.

"Thank you," Colin said, placing it on his nightstand.

"Are you okay?" Chad asked. "You're acting strange," he said.

That's when the waterworks started. "Don't leave ever again." "Promise me, please," Colin said, slumping down on his bed.

"Did you miss me that much?" Chad asked, sitting next to him. "I said I'd come back," he said. Tears ran down Colin's cheeks, and he nodded his head.

"Chad, promise me," he begged.

"I promise," Chad said, hugging him tightly.

***Seven years later***

Chad and Colin were in the dining hall eating breakfast when Colin noticed a change in Chad's demeanor. He was sweating and shivering.

"Are you alright?" he asked. "You are sweating like a pig," he said. Chad suddenly rose from his chair and bolted out the door. Colin turned his head and shrugged when he felt several eyes fall on him. That afternoon, Colin went to check on Chad but found his room empty.

He left the room and found one of the sisters heading down the hallway.

"Sister Rose, where is Chad?" he asked, stepping up to her.

"Brother Damian is with him at the clinic," she said.

"Why?" "What's wrong with him?" Colin asked, feeling a bit scared and nervous.

"He's going through a change," she said. "His body is changing," she added.

"So, he's okay?" Colin asked.

"Yes, he'll be his normal self in a few days," she said, patting him on his shoulder. Colin laid on his bed with Chad on his mind.

"If he is going through a change, will I do the same?" he asked himself.

Colin sat at the table, fiddling with his lunch, when the doors to the dining hall opened. He raised his eyes, and his mouth dropped in shock when Chad strolled in. He had muscles everywhere, and his blonde hair was thicker and longer. Colin couldn't stop staring as Chad grabbed his tray and drink and sat down across from him.

"Chad, is that really you?" Colin asked. "You look so different," he said.

"In a good or bad way?" Chad asked.

"In a good way," he said, blushing hard.

Colin couldn't stop taking quick glances as they ate their meal. "I wonder if I'll look like that," he thought to himself.

"Can I see your wolf some time?" Colin asked.

"I'm not sure if I can shift here," Chad said. "I can ask though," he said.

"Did it hurt?" he asked. "You know, the change," he said.

"It was painful at first," he said.

"I wonder if I'll look like you," Colin said.

"Brother Damian said it's different with each person," he said.

Chad was relaxing under a tree one warm day, listening to the birds sing. He waited for Colin to meet him. Chad got a bad feeling in his gut when Colin hadn't shown up after two hours.

"He should have been here by now," Chad said to himself. Chad got up and started walking back to the main building. As he got closer, the smell of blood filled his nose. Suddenly, a familiar voice reached his ears.

"Give that back!" "That's mine!" Colin yelled at the brunette, who snatched the necklace and put it into his pants pocket.

"What are you going to do?" "Go cry to your alpha?" the older boy sneered.

Chad lost it right then and there when he heard Colin cry out in agony.

"What are you doing to my friend?" Chad demanded, rounding the corner and glaring at the boy.

"Teaching," the boy retorted.

"That is bullying, not teaching," Chad bellowed. "If you don't want me reporting this to the headmaster, I'd leave my friend alone," he said. "Now, give him back the necklace!" Chad ordered.

"Here it is, filthy omega," Devin sneered, snapping the chain in half and tossing it at him.

"No!" Colin yelled as he kneeled over to the broken necklace. As he stared at the pieces of his past, tears streamed down his cheeks.

"I should snap your neck right now for doing that," Chad growled. "We'll see what Brother Damian has to say about this matter," he said.

With all of the commotion, they never heard the footsteps approaching from behind.

"What is the meaning of this?" a male voice boomed.

"Brother Damian, Devin was harassing my friend," Chad said, facing the man.

"I wasn't doing anything," the brunette objected.

"Don't deny it; I saw everything through my window," Damian said. Damian faced Chad and said, "Take your friend to the nurse while I deal with Mr. Matthews," he instructed.

Chad did what he was told. He collected the broken necklace, put it into his pocket, and helped Colin to his feet. They headed to the nurse's office. A short, raven-haired woman approached them once they entered the clinic. The instant she saw Colin, she had them follow her to an empty exam room.

"What happened?" she asked.

"Devin is what happened," Chad said.

"That boy never learns," she said, letting out a frustrated sigh.

Chad sat in a chair and watched as the nurse examined Colin. "Will he be okay, Mrs. Parker?" he asked as she finished up.

"He has some bruising and a slight fever," she said. "I'd like to keep him for a few days," she added.

"Can I see him before I go to bed tonight?" Chad asked.

"Okay, just knock first," she said. Chad stepped up to the bed and said, "You rest; I'll get your necklace fixed." "If he asks for me, I'll be in my room trying to fix this," he said.

Colin's fever spiked, and his whole body ached. He whimpered even with the slightest touch of the nurse's hand. That's when a medical tray beside her levitated. The nurse turned her gaze to Colin and gasped in shock. The nurse picked up a phone and dialed the headmaster.

"We have an issue here; I'd suggest you and Sister Katerine come quickly," she said. When they arrived, the nurse had gone into her office and stayed there.

"What's going on here?" Damian asked. "Do we have a poltergeist or something?" he asked.

The nurse glanced at them with panic and confusion in her eyes. "The boy is starting his first heat, and he's telekinetic," she said.

"A young man with this ability is a rare and special person," Katerine said. "Contact his aid, and tell his friend to pack for a few days," she said.

"Why?" he asked.

"He'll need his friend at a time like this," Katerine said. They nodded their heads and prepared everything.
