9.9 Billion Bride

He is the emperor of the dark night—cruel and indifferent, rejecting the warmth of women's affection. He ensnared her, viewing her as the antidote to the love poison that coursed through him, instantly addicted, and henceforth, forever beyond redemption. "The women who have glimpsed my body have only one destiny," he declared, donning a refined silver-black mask, his smile sly. "Yet, I find your scent intriguing. You may choose the manner of your demise." Their first encounter saw him pinning her to the carpet. Though commonplace advances typically involved various kisses, he surprised her by biting her neck. The perplexing question lingered: Why was he, not a vampire, drinking her blood?! Upon their second meeting, she fell prey to his bodyguard's abduction, brought before him. 013: You, are mine (1)

She watched George grow up, a young man who was both good-looking and of exemplary character; she wouldn't worry if Tara married him!

So from that day forth, Josie no longer mentioned leaving the Summer Family. Learning that Victoria Saber also hoped to arrange a good match for her daughter, Josie couldn't help but feel anxious. Thankfully, it seemed that George had no such intentions towards Robin, which gave her some relief.

As a mother, Josie simply hoped for her daughter's happiness...

In the following two days, Tara was busy job hunting. Normally, she left the house before George even woke up, and he was always preoccupied with his bustling company affairs, so they rarely crossed paths.

Tara studied medicine, specializing in haematology. She had once interned at a private hospital in Washington State, USA. The hospital intended to offer her a position as a doctor, but she resolutely returned to her homeland for her mother's sake.

The two most famous large-scale hospitals in Night City, Saint Emperia Private Hospital and Night City's First Public Hospital, were both of interest to Tara, having researched them extensively.

However, if possible, she preferred to join the First Hospital, as she believed that a public hospital was truly where one could serve the common people.

Her resume was impressive. She had attended interviews at both hospitals for two consecutive days, and it seemed that both were quite interested in her, promising to get back to her as soon as possible.

Tara could hardly contain her joy. When she stepped out of the First Hospital, she was so ecstatic she could almost leap for joy. Although they hadn't officially hired her yet, she was very confident and believed that they would surely contact her.

"Yes!" She clenched her fist, stepping outside the hospital with a spring in her step. Her mood was excellent; just like the most dazzling sun in the summer, she was all smiles, brimming with youthful vitality.

With a sudden screech, a fleet of more than ten black luxury cars came to a halt by the road, blocking the way and causing a traffic jam almost instantly.

Tara furrowed her brows, observing the arrogant fleet of twelve deluxe cars blocking the road, and the ensuing congestion. She thought, 'These people are really arrogant, blocking the road right outside a hospital. What if an ambulance can't get in? Won't that cost lives?!

As she contemplated, the doors of the twelve black sedans opened almost at the same time, and four or five men in black suits stepped out of each car.

They were all dressed in black suits and sunglasses, earpieces pinned to their ears, likely bodyguards. However, their grave expressions and stern demeanour made them seem more like mobsters!

Tara furrowed her brows further, prepared to leave through the side door. However, just as she took a few steps, the throng of black-suited bodyguards surrounded her.

What's this about? Tara looked around, then behind her, confirming that these men were surrounding her specifically before she frowned at them.

"What's going on?"

"Miss, please stay." One of the bodyguards stretched out his hand to stop her.

Tara raised an eyebrow. "Have you mistaken me for someone else? I don't know you, I..."

"Miss Tara Summer." From a distance, a voice suddenly joined in the conversation. Tara turned around to see a young man stepping out of a car in the middle.

The man was also sporting sunglasses and exhibited a handsome face and sturdy physique, his dexterity clear at first glance. He approached Tara within a few strides, and the bodyguards around them immediately gave way, displaying disciplined training.

"Do you know me?" Tara asked both out of curiosity and confusion.

Fierce Eagle nodded slightly, his voice steady. "Tara Summer, twenty years old, a graduate from the University of Washington School of Medicine and third daughter of the Summer Clan in real estate. Is that you?"
