Chapter 2: Meeting Reiko Yanagi

Time passed quickly as I prepared to meet Reiko, leaving me most of the time reading up on new techniques for my drawing and trying out new sweets my parents bought me, but after noon on Saturday at two in the afternoon Reiko and her mother showed up.

Reiko was only three years old at this time so I wasn't surprised to see a girl a little taller than me with pale grey hair covering her right eye leaving only her blue eye, but overall it was pretty normal as she didn't have her signature pose imitating a zombie or ghost at the moment.

- How about we let the boys get to know each other - my mother said as Reiko's mother nodded and they both moved towards the living room where my mother had left cups of coffee.

Seeing Reiko with her shy attitude was kind of funny, the poor girl had been hiding behind her mother since she arrived and now that she was alone she was looking slightly towards the floor avoiding eye contact with me.

-Nice to meet you Reiko, my name is Shinzen Yume – I said extending my hand with enthusiasm waiting for her reaction.

-My…. name.... is ...Reiko Yanagi, nice to meet you Yume – said Reiko stuttering while taking my hand with a little tremble.

-Reiko you like sweets – I said while moving my hand with enthusiasm while the girl nodded slightly – great then I will take you to my room where I have a lot of sweets.

Standing behind Reiko I pushed her up the stairs to my room while I yelled to my mom that I would take Reiko to my room, after entering I stood in front of Reiko again with a smile while making a pose like a master of ceremonies to introduce my room.

My room had a bed in the corner diagonal to the entrance door, I had a large collection of books on a shelf and a large amount of my drawings scattered around my desk while a large amount of sweets could be seen on a shelf.

-Well let's see what sweets you might like - I said as I approached and looked at the sweets on my shelf while Reiko looked at my room with curiosity, after a few moments I took out a lemon candy with strawberry candy filling - take this one it's very delicious and you might like it.

With a little hesitation, Reiko took the green cane and took a bite, her previously shy expression turned to show her liking for the candy, revealing a very tender expression on her childish appearance.

-Thank you, the candy is very tasty - said Reiko with a less shy tone of voice while she continued eating the candy.

-I'm glad you like it - I said giving her a big smile - would you like to play with me? I have some toys here.

-Sure - said Reiko as she sat on my bed while I took out a pack of Uno cards, which Reiko looked at with curiosity for never having played the game before.

After that we played a few board games that I had while we talked getting to know each other little by little, although most of the conversation was childish things because of Reiko's mental age I was able to enjoy spending time with someone who didn't spend all their time talking about heroes and related topics.

Reiko gradually lost some of her shyness and began to smile more the more we played, but after about three hours my mom appeared in my room accompanied by Reiko's mom.

-It seems that you are having fun - said my mom happy to see me playing with someone my age - unfortunately Reiko has to go now honey.

-Wow, time flies when you are having fun - I said as Reiko approached her mom with a smile - until next time Reiko, I had a great time.

-I had a great time too Yume - said Reiko in a whisper returning to her shy attitude while taking her mother's hand - see you at the next opportunity to continue playing.

After that Reiko and her mom left leaving me alone with my mom on the porch of the front door, my mother put her hand on my head starting to caress me.

-I see that you enjoyed - said my mother - then I think it will be no problem if you come back to see Reiko next week, right?

-Of course not - I say with excitement to see Reiko again - she is a very calm girl and we share similar interests when it comes to the channels we watch, plus it's good to finally have someone to talk to.
