Ch 13: Mt. Moon Part 2

Wes continued moving towards the exit of Mt. Moon. On the way he still fought against wild Pokémon. He focused training his Butterfree. After all in terms of level, it was his weakest Pokemon. Ivisaur and Nidorino were also training harder than usual. Wes wanted to have this two Pokemon reach LV 19, at least before reaching Cerulean City. The newest addition to the team, Charmeleon was sparing with Umbreon. This two prideful and full of lust for battle Pokemon, had created a bit of a rivalry with eachother.

Wes also taught the Protect TM to his Charmeleon. Charmeleon was totally shocked. Wes just touched it with a strange disk like object and some kind of weird fealing spread throughout its head. Then it discovered it could use the same annoying green dome that Umbreon used to deflect its attacks.

After that Charmeleon actually looked at its hands and wondered of, how right it was to search for a trainer. When it learned Metal Claw Charmeleon had spend a lot of time. But now with a touch of a disc it had learned a new Move.

As Wes was about to reach the stairway, to go to the lowest floor. A fat hiker challenged him in a 1vs1 match. Wes used Nidorino for this battle. His opponent called out an Onix

WES: Nidorino use Lear.

Hiker: Onix use Harden.

Then as Onix hardened its body Nidorino's Lear Move lowered its Def stat. That exchange resulted in both Pokemon's Moves canceling eachother.

Hiker: Onix use Rock Throw.

WES: Nidorino use Sucker Punch.

Onix threw a boulder that appeared out of nowhere while Nidorino suddenly vanished and appeared right above Onix's head. Nidorino was enveloped in a dark aura. Then Nidorino hit the head of the Onix slamming it into the ground.

Hiker: Onix Nooooo.

WES: Nidorino use Leer.

Hiker: Onix use Tackle.

Nidorino immediately lowered the Def stat of Onix by one stage thanks to Lear. Onix hit Nidorino knocking it backwards.

Hiker: Onix Rock Tomb.

WES: Nidorino use Sucker Punch.

Then Onix Rock Tomb Move missed Nidorino. Nidorino hit the Onix for critical damage. The Onix screeched in pain.

Hiker: Grrrrr. ONIX IRON TAIL.

WES: Protect then Double Kick Nidorino.

The hiker frustrated because of how the fight was going, screaming towards his Onix, to pass his emotions towards it. Onix's tail immediately turned into silver metallic colour and went straight ahead for Nidorino. Wes order on the other hand was quite calm. Nidorino was enveloped by a green dome. Onix's tail was detected and Nidorino counter attacked Onix with its Double Kick. The Kicks connected with the body of Onix. Onix fell backwards totally fainted.

After this win against a fellow trainer, Wes reached the lowest part of Mt. Moon. It had the same atmosphere as before, but with one difference. On the ground someone could see some craters of varying sizes. As Wes passed my a medium one, the corner of his eye caught something red sining close to the center of the crater. Wes used his system database to see what this item was. But after Wes saw what it was, Wes like a starving wolf finding some pray it was a Star Piece.

Star Piece was a shard of a pretty gem in the sape of a star that sparkles in a red color. It was considered a very beautiful gem and many rich people wanted to make jewelry out of it. The price someone could sell a Star Piece was actually a lot higher than in the games. Actually the Star Piece was more expensive than a nugget most of the time. Depending on its quality a pure Star Piece could be sold for about 7500 to 13000 Pokedolars.

" So Star Piece can be found inside Mt. Moon. That's quite surprising. If i find more then i can afford some money for an unbreakable TM or a Pokemon Hold Item."

Wes contemplated for a bit. Then he decided to still move fast so he can reach Cerulean City. Garry probably had already got his badge. Maybe Leaf has done so as well. Of course he and his Pokemon would be looking out more carefully to spot some more.

After 2 hours of fighting and traveling Wes reached a big clearing that was only 10 minutes away from the exit.

" Finally i am almost out of this cave."

???: YEEEEEEEEESS. I FOUND IT. I FREAKIIING FOUND TWO OF THem!!!!!!!!!!

As Wes was thinking that he only needed a small amount of time to get out of My. Moon. He would be able to reach Cerulean City if he moved fast enough. But he was startled by a man in a lab coat screaming at the top of his lungs. As Wes aproached him, the screaming man immediately moved covering something.

???: Are you here for this fossils. I already got to them.

WES: No. i am only passing through. So i can reach Cerulean City.

???: Yea yea i for sure believe you.

The weird man in a lab coat was talking to Wes full of irony, not believing a word Wes was saying.

???: Ok how about this? Lets have a 2vs2 double battle. If i win you scram away and you also giving me one TM. But if you win. I will let you choose one of this to take with you.

The weird man proposed a betting duel. He was still salty that he had lost to this spiky haired kid that had a Wartortle. Because of the bet he had to give his one use Thunder Punch TM. Since the trainer he saw looked a bit tired from traveling, he thought that he can minimise his loses if he beat him in a betting match.

WES: Ok. I agree with you. If you win i will give you this unbreakable Protect TM. If i win i will take the Dome one.

??? POV:

" So you accept. Perfect. Wait a minute. Whaaaaaaaatt?"

At first he felt happy that this idiot accepted his challenge like that. But what he heard next stupified him.

" Is he crazy??? He wants to bet with one of the most sought out unbreakable TMs. Shit what trouble i brought to myself this time?"

He was now regretting his impulsiveness. But he could not back down from this. If he got lucky and won he would have made a killing.

WES POV:

WES: Ok then.Time to battle.

???: Ok.

Then both of them summoned their Pokemon. Wes called out his Umbreon and Butterfree. The strange man brought out a Koffing and a Grimer.

???: Ok Koffing, Grimer use Poison Gas.

WES: Umbreon Protect Butterfree. Butterfree use Sleep Powder after the attack on Grimer.

Umbreon immediately went close to Butterfree and blocked the poison gasses that were directed towards it. Butterfree instantly after the green dome disappeared moved her wings very fast with a green powder lunching fast towards the Grimer carried by the wind. Grimer could not dodge and had fallen asleep.

???: Koffing use Sludge.

WES: Umbreon use Helping Hand. Butterfree use Confusion.

Before Koffing could move Umbreon started clapping its front paws. Butterfree was enveloped in a strange aura. The Confusion Move it used was empowered from Helping Hand by 50%. Koffing took the super effective hit and smashed into a cave wall.

WES: Umbreon Quick Attack.

Before the strange researcher could react at what happened, Umbreon had understood who the target was and it immediately disappeared leaving afterimages behind. As Koffing moved with a lot of difficulty out of the wall it suddenly felt danger, but before it could detect the source, Umbreon had hit the Koffing putting it out of this fight.

???: GRIMER WAKE UUUUUUPPP.

The researcher screamed at Grimer as loud as possible in a futile attempt to wake it up. Wes ordered his Pokemon to use the same combo. Grimer in the dismay of its trainer had also lost.

WES: Guess i win

???. Ok i got it. Here is your fossil.

WES: Thanks for the free gift.

???: ?????????? 😭

The strange researcher was totally confused and quite down as well. Confused as to why his opponent said that. As for why he was feeling down. His opponent had crushed him like a bug. He was beaten a lot worse than that spiky head trainer had beat him. Wes of course left with his brand new free fossil.

" What a gambling adict. If he didn't challenge me in a betting match, he would have left with both fossils. Whatever i finally reached the exit."

Wes saw the opening in the wall at the end of

Mt. Moon and he immediately left the cave. Outside Wes was greeted by the stars and the full moon of the night. He then as he left the cave returned all his team back on their Pokeball's so they can rest. He also had a huge smile in his face. This trip to Mt. Moon was quite rewarding. He had got a Moon Stone and a Star Piece. After that he had found two more Star Piece's and a rare candy.

Also he had found a one use TM Bullet Seed on the ground. While this Move wasn't that good, there was a Pokemon from another generation that was using this Move in competitive play. So he would put it in his back for until that time arrives.

Wes then immediately left towards Cerulean City his next goal for the journey.
