Ch 14: Wes VS Misty

As Wes Wes left Mt. Moon he started to move towards Cerulean City. It was already dark outside, so he really wanted to reach the city fast so he and all his Pokemon, could have a good rest before tomorrow's battle. Then as Wes was passing next to a fenced area he stopped intrigued by the noises he heard. Inside the fenced area two Karate Masters, one with a Hitmonchan and the other with a Hitmonlee were training.

Karate Master1: Hello there. Are you a traveler? I don't recognize you.

WES: Yes i come from Pallet Town to challenge the Cerulean City Gym.

KM1: I see.

KM2: So you came through Mt. Moon?

WES: Yes. It took some time but i really did it.

KM1: Ok then. Since you completed Mt. Moon...

KM2: That makes you eligible to learn from us.

KM1: I can teach the Mega Punch Move to one of your Pokemon.

KM2: I on the other hand i am able to teach your Pokemon the Mega Kick Move.

WES: Thank you for your guidance. Wait a minute so i can decide which Pokemon of my team will learn from you.

Wes immediately checked his system to see which of his Pokemon can learn this Moves.

"Ok. This aren't the best in the games, but in this world they might be a bit useful. Also they are free. mmmmm. So only Charmeleon can learn them. Ok its decided then."

Wes summoned his Charmeleon.

WES: My Charmeleon will learn both Moves.

Then with the help of the Karate Masters and their Pokemon, Charmeleon after 4 hours learned both Moves. If course Charmeleon would need to train more to use them more proficiently. Wes left after Charmeleon learned both Moves. After 1 and a half hours Wes reached Cerulean City.

In his view from where he was standing he could see enveloped by darkness a very bright huge city . A huge river passed through this City and was leading towards the sea. From a garden near the north west shore of Cerulean City was the opening of a huge cave. This cave was blocked by some huge metallic doors and near the huge door were a lot of sighs but because it was dark Wes could not discern what was written on them.

In the North part of the City a huge wooden bridge connecting Cerulean City with Route 24 and 25 could be faintly seen. This path led towards the most famous area of Cerulean City. The Cerulean Cape. The most famous dating spot in all of the Kanto region. This bridge even though it was made of wood it looked like a pice of art under the moonlight. In the eastern part of the City the Cerulean Gym was located and next to it was a path towards Route 9 that lead towards Rock Tunnel and the Abandoned Power Plant. If someone went south they would reach Route 5 a Route that connects Cerulean City with Vermilion City.

Wes left immediately towards the Pokemon center. He arrived at the counter and gave the nurse His Pokemon to heal. He also called back home to tell the news to his parents and after he received his team back, he immediately went to sleep.

Wes woke up around 12:00 o clock. He usually wakes up around 08:30 - 09:00 but after staying in Mt. Moon for some time with the constant sonic waves of the Zubat, it took a toll on him.

Wes went to a bakery to buy his breakfast and after feeding his Pokemon he slowly went towards the Cerulean City Gym.

When Wes arrived, he saw infront of him a Gym that looked like a huge football stadium with different Water Type Pokemon and mermaids painted on the walls of it. When he went Inside the first thing Wes saw was the reception room.

He immediately gave the receptionist his information and after calling the gym leader she informed Wes that the challenge will be a 4vs4 Double Battle. Wes had to wait at the waiting room until Misty got ready. Unbeknownst to him Misty had lost a fight to Leaf 5 minutes before his arrival.

In the waiting room Wes summoned his Pokemon to brief them about this challenge.

WES: Ok team. This fight will be a 4vs4 2 on 2 battle. So Nidorino you are to start this match with Butterfree.

Nidorino: NIDOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Butterfree: Freee free frre.

Butterfree's cry's of joy were totally covered up by the excited roar of Nidorino. Last time Nidorino wasn't able to fight. So it was ready to give his best this time.

WES: Ok then. Charmeleon this is a Water Type Gym so you will fight next time.

Charmeleon: Char.

Charmeleon nodded its head to Wes understanding the meaning of his words.

WES: The final two members because of their type are Ivysaur and Umbreon. Eevee sorry you will have to sit this one out.

Wes said the last sentence petting the head of his Eevee. Ivisaur was chosen because it is a Grass Type Pokemon. Umbreon on the other hand can restrain the Ace Pokemon Misty used in the games. Starmie. After 20 minutes Wes was called to go to the arena for the fight. He returned back all his Pokemon except his Eevee that he placed on top of his shoulder like Ash did in the anime with Pikachu.

Wes moved straight ahead to the arena and after he entered he was greeted by many pools of different sizes. its one of this pools was used for different activities and on the center of arena a huge pool with some metallic platforms on top of it could be seen. This pool was the venue were the Gym Leader Misty fought her challengers. The platforms were for Pokémon that can't fight in the Water to be able to move and fight around the pool.

After Wes looked around for a bit he immediately moved towards his corner of the pool and on the opposite corner stood a huge azure podium with a huge white number 1 painted on in just like the gen 3 remakes. On top of the No.1 podium stood a young woman with short honey orange hair, wearing white slippers and a white with some blue lines woman's one-piece swimsuit. Wes immediately understood that this was Misty's outfit from the Heart Gold/Soul Silver games.

MISTY: Hello there challenger from the Pallet Town. I am Misty the mermaid of Cerulean City.

Misty immediately greeted Wes. Of course she totally, not on purpose didn't mention her full nickname as the Tomboy Mermaid.

WES: I am Wes Williams of Pallet Town.

MISTY: I just lost to a cute girl that was using Grass Types just now. I also had a very good fight with a guy that had Wartortle.

"I did expect for Garry to get the Badge first. But that i would be able to close the distance with Leaf that was unexpected."

WES: I see. So Garry and Leaf had already won their Badge.

MISTY: Yes they did. Wait a minute. White hair and a dark blue outfit. Sorry do you happen to use an Umbreon?

WES: Yes i do. Is something wrong?

MISTY: No don't worry. So you are the trainer that destroyed Brock so badly that he still has nightmares about it.

WES: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhh????????????

MISTY: Hahaha. Its the truth. Brock actually warned all of the Gym Leaders to be careful about you.

Suddenly as Wes saw Misty lick her lips a thick chill spread throughout his spine. Unbeknownst to him, Misty after finding out who Wes was, actually paid attention to his appearance. She found Wes to be also cool and could fit her tastes. He also had pure white hair and was a very good trainer that could cause Brock to be scared. She was thinking of what bonus to give him after their battle so she could make a more friendly connection with him.

MISTY: OK. Let me reintroduce myself i am Misty Gym Leader of Cerulean City. So what's your policy on Pokémon? What's your approach? My policy for battle is... an all-out offensive with Water-type Pokémon! Misty, the world-famous beauty, is your host! My sweet Pokémon are ready! Are you?

"World famous??????????????".

WES: I am always ready.

MISTY: Good. Then lets begin.

Both Wes and Misty send out their first 2 Pokémon to start this Double Battle. Wes called out his Nidorino and Butterfree. While Misty Called out her Poliwag and Horsea. Wes immediately looked the status of his opponents.

Poliwag: female LV 20 Ability: Swift Swim Item: no

Moves: Water Sport, Mud Shot (Baby), Psywave (Baby), Water Gun, Hypnosis, Water Pulse (TM), Double Slap, Icy Wind (Tutor), Snore (Tutor),

Rain Dance (TM).

Horsea: female LV 20 Ability: Swift Swim Item: no

Moves: Bubble, Dragon Breath (Baby), Aurora Beam (Baby), Smokescreen, Swift (Tutor),

Water Pulse (TM), Twister, Rain Dance (TM).

"Hypnosis and Icy Wind!!! Swift Swim!! Ok i got to defeat this Poliwag fast."

MISTY: Poliwag use Water Sport. Horsea use Rain Dance.

WES: Nidorino use Head Smash on Poliwag. Butterfree use Sleep Powder on Horsea.

Poliwag lunched a lot of Bubbles in the air lowering the power of Fire-type moves by 50%. The effect of Water Sport applies to the entire field. Nidorino on the other hand Run fast and smashed Poliwag on the edge of a platform. Horsey danced in the water and Black clouds appeared inside the arena. Before the rain began Butterfree Sleep Powder hit Horsea putting it to Sleep.

MISTY: Poliwag use Hypnosis on Butterfree.

WES: Butterfree Protect then Electroweb. Nidorino use Lear on Horsea.

Butterfree was enveloped by a green dome that deflected the hypnotic waves. Wes ordered Nidorino to use Lear because both Horsea and Poliwag were quite a distance away from it on the water so it would be quite risky to attack, since Nidorino didn't know any ranged Moves. Then the green dome enveloping Butterfree disappeared and Butterfree instantly attacked lunching a web made out of electricity towards Poliwag. Poliwag couldn't dodge and was directly hit by the Electroweb Move fainting in the process.

MISTY POV:

MISTY: No Poliwag.

WES: Great job Butterfree.

" Damnit. This Butterfree knows Electric Type Moves. I can't send out Gyarados or i will really be in a very bad position if it also looses."

MISTY: Ok. you forced my hand. Come out Starmie.

WES POV:

" Starmie!!!! Isn't it a bit early for her ace? Wait a minute. If she is afraid of Electric Moves so much that she send out her ace then her final Pokemon should be a Gyarados. Since it is 4 time weak to electric Moves."

Misty's Starmie appeared as Wes finished his thoughts on her choice. Wes immediately checked on the summary of Starmie.

Starmie: LV 23 Ability: Natural Cure Item: no

Moves: Harden, Tackle, Zap Cannon (Baby),

Rapid Spin (Baby), Water Gun, Recover,

Icy Wind (Tutor), Water Pulse (TM), Psywave, Swift, Bubble Beam, Signal Beam (Tutor), Sleep Talk (TM), Rain Dance (TM).

"Shit. This is a big problem."

Wes just seeing the Recover Move got him a bit worried. In a split second he started predicting how the fight could go and after figuring out the best action he could make, he acted immediately.

WES: Nidorino return. Ivysaur take the stage.

Wes switched out his Nidorino for his Ivysaur. Ivisaur appeared with a roar and Wes didn't lose any time giving his orders.

WES: Butterfree Electroweb. Ivysaur use Swords Dance.

MISTY: Starmie Icy Wind.

Butterfree instantly lunched a web made out of electricity hiting both the Starmie and the Sleeping Horsea. Ivysaur started dancing enveloping itself in a redish aura and Starmie covered the whole area of except the one Horsea was sleeping with its Icy Wind Move hiting both of the Pokemon Wes had out at the same time lowering their Speed stat by one stage.

MISTY: Starmie Icy Wind.

WES: Butterfree Protect then Electroweb. Ivysaur Seed Bomb on Horsea.

Starmie covered half the arena again with its Icy Wind. Ivysaur took a critical hit this time but it hanged on and lunched Its Seed Bomb Move towards the Sleeping Horsea. Butterfree was enveloped again by the green protective dome and it immediately counter attacked with Electroweb. Horsea at that time was hit by the +2 Seed Bomb and fainted while Starmie Was hit by the Electroweb.

MISTY: Good job Horsea. Gyarados go.

Misty returned back to its Pokeball the fallen Horsea and called out her Gyarados. Its Intimidate Ability went to work immediately and lowered Butterfree's and Ivysaur's Atk stat by one stage. Wes also checked out the newly set out Gyarados.

Gyarados: male LV 21 Ability: Intimidate Item: no

Moves: Splash, Tackle, Bite, Water Pulse (TM), Lear, Snore (Tutor), Dragon Pulse (Tutor), Rain Dance (TM).

MISTY: Gyarados use Water Pulse on Butterfree. Starmie Recover.

WES: Ivysaur use Leach Seed on Starmie. Butterfree Dodge and use Electroweb.

Ivysaur immediately lunched a seed towards Starmie while Starmie was absorbing specs of light. Butterfree tried to dodge but because of the rain and the -1 Speed it wasn't able to and was directly hit. The seed landed on Starmie and it immediately took root.

MISTY: Zap Cannon on Butterfree Starmie.

Misty lost no time and Starmie's Zap Cannon immediately went towards Butterfree.

WES: Ivysaur use Sleep Powder.

Butterfree was directly hit and fell from the sky on a platform. Ivysaur Sleep Powder covered the Place were Starmie and Gyarados stood. Gyarados hit the water of the pool creating waves that blocked Ivysaur's Sleep Powder. At that time Butterfree landed on the platform fainted. Also Starmie was covered for a bit in a crackling red light that stole some of its HP and transmitted it towards Ivysaur.

WES: Great job Butterfree. Umbreon go.

Wes with a smirk on his face returned Butterfree to its Pokeball. While Umbreon took its Place. Eevee standing on the shoulder of Wes immediately started cheering giving a red embarrassed blush on Umbreon's face. Staring at that scene Misty actually transmitted killing intent being totally jealous of the two Pokemon. At the same time the rainclouds dissipated returning the weather conditions to normal.

Before Misty could give her next order Wes returned his Ivysaur back to its Pokeball and called out his Nidorino for round two.

MISTY: Wait. Why did you switch out your Ivisaur?

WES: Well. That's a suprise. Ok Umbreon use Curse. Nidorino use Lear on Starmie.

MISTY: Starmie use Icy Wind. Gyarados use Rain Dance.

After the Wes gave his orders Umbreon was enveloped by a mysterious mist while Nidorino's left eye flashed with a glint while looking at Starmie lowering its Def Stat. Gyarados started dancing and the rain enveloped the whole arena again while Icy Wind hit Both the Umbreon and Nidorino lowering their Speed. The red light enveloped Starmie again steeling its HP and healing Nidorino in the process.

MISTY: Starmie Gyarados Water Pulse on Nidorino.

WES: Nidorino Sucker Punch on Starmie. Umbreon Helping Hand.

Suddenly Umbreon started clapping its hands. On the other hand Nidorino disappeared dodging both Water Pulses in the process. Nidorino reappeared next to Starmie and hit it with its front foot covered in darkness. Starmie flew away and slammed in a wall out of the Pool immediately fainting.

MISTY: Nooooo Starmie!!!!!!!

Misty screamed in shock. She didn't expect that Move at all. Wes playfully with his plan completed to a level of near perfection answered Misty's previous question.

WES: Did you like my suprise? Except putting one of your Pokemon to sleep my plan worked perfectly.

MISTY: What do you mean.

WES: The moment you summoned your ace i figured out that your last Pokemon was a Gyarados. So i defeated Horsey before dealing with your ace in order to force Gyarados Intimidate hit my current team. Then i only had to use my Nidorino's Sucker Punch to catch you unprepared and defeat your Starmie.

MISTY: Tchh. Guess you succeeded but don't think i will go out without fighting.

Misty returned back her Starmie and gave immediately her next order.

MISTY: Gyarados Water Pulse.

WES: Protect both of you... Then Nidorino use Head Smash while Umbreon use Helping Hand.

Gyarados Water Pulse targeting the Nidorino was deflected by the green dome Nidorino had created and it immediately started running towards Gyarados. Umbreon began clapping its front paws and Nidorino finally reached Gyarados and A

slammed into it knocking it back. Gyarados tried to rise its body but it couldn't do it fast enough. The next order from Wes sealed the nail into the coffin.

WES: Umbreon Quick Attack.

Umbreon instantly used its Quick Attack Move to hit the Gyarados defeating it in the process. Wes had won the Match.

MISTY: Great job Gyarados.

Misty returned Gyarados back to its Pokeball. And then met with Wes in the side of the arena.

MISTY: Congratulations on your win Wes. Here's the Cascade Badge of Cerulean City. Also you receive will a total of 18000 Pokedolars. And one final thing. You can ether receive 1 unbreakable Water Pulse TM or 1 Carbos Vitamin. Witch one do you choose?

WES: I choose the Vitamin.

MISTY: I see.

Misty gave the Carbos Vitamin to Wes and with a contemplating look she asked Wes. At the same time Umbreon and Nidorino were receiving congratulations from Eevee.

MISTY: So what do you plan to do now?

WES: I plan to visit the Cerulean cape to capture a Staryu and visit Bill. I heard his an expert on Eevee and its evolutions, so i plan to pay him a visit. After that i gonna visit the Power Plant to get an Electric Type for my team. And then go to Vermilion City for my 3d Gym Badge.

MISTY: I understand. Hey do you happen to have some time?

After hearing the plans Wes had, she got an idea about what to gift him In order to form a connection with him.

WES: I am not in a hurry... So yes.

MISTY: Perfect. Follow me for a bit.

Wes returned back his Pokemon into their Pokeballs and he followed Misty at the Back of the Gym. When they arrived Misty gave Wes a Pokeball.

WES: A Pokeball??????

MISTY: Yes. The Pokemon inside, used to fight the 1st Gym challengers but by mistake it grew more powerful and cannot be used anymore. Since you are already looking for a Staryu why not take this one?

WES: Thank you very mach.

Wes then summoned his new team member. Then a Staryu full of fighting intent appeared.

MISTY: Staryu this is going to be your new trainer.

Misty said this as she peted the Staryu.

Staryu: Star star staryu.

Staryu nodded and looked towards Wes to discern if he was a good enough trainer for it. Wes also paid attention to Staryu and especially its summary.

Staryu: LV 20 Ability: Natural Cure Item: no

Moves: Harden, Tackle, Teleport (Baby), Recover (Baby), Rapid Spin, Water Gun, Icy Wind (Tutor), Psywave, Swift, Bubble Beam, Signal Beam (Tutor), Rain Dance (TM).

"Nice it also knows Teleport and Icy Wind. I really got a good one."

Wes returned Staryu back to its Pokeball. During the evening he would visit Cerulean Cape and he will have time to train and form a bond with this Staryu.

MISTY: Sorry to interrupt. Can we exchange numbers. I would like to receive news about Staryu.

WES: Sure. Why not?

Wes and Misty after that interaction said their goodbyes. Wes left towards the Pokemon Center to heal his team. After the healing he summoned his Pokemon so the rest of the team could meet their new member.
