Cassius Warrington

Diagon Alley, London, 1989.

A boy with black hair sat behind a cashier in a gothic-style restaurant, with various sweets and pastries displayed on the glass counter on the side of him, the boy was looking through the glass window at the grey full moon with resplendent stars while holding another closed book about transfiguration.

The restaurant was open, and some wizards and witches sat at the tables, ordering food from the menu and talking about their daily lives.

The entire restaurant was serene, and the chandelier illuminated the restaurant as brightly as a day.

Many wizards and witches paid their bills while speaking politely to the boy before leaving.

Ring!

The restaurant door opened, and with a bell ringing in the background, a blonde-haired boy walked in, and when his gaze locked on the boy in the cashier, a smile appeared on his lips.

"I didn't think you'd be here this late, Cassius." While standing in front of the cashier, the blonde-haired boy inquired.

"It's just past nine o'clock, Cedric." Cassius responded with a deadpan expression, pointing to the wall clock.

"I assumed your mother would be strict like mine." Cedric said with a twinge of envy. "However, it appears to be quite the opposite."

"First, come inside." Cassius didn't respond to him first, allowing Cedric to enter the counter.

"Can you take my place for a moment, Ella? I have a friend here." Cassius turned to face the woman behind the glass counter, who was also selling cakes and pastries.

"Yes, Sir." Ella responded with respect to a boy younger than her, but she showed no dissatisfaction at this prospect.

They entered a room behind the counter and sat in chairs facing each other while Ella took his place.

"It's also a pleasant surprise to see you here." Cassius exclaimed, feigning surprise. "In light of your strict mother." He said it with a smile.

"That's it, my mother hasn't been home in a while, so father brought me with him for his routine checks because of his job in the ministry." Cedric sighed as he said this. "It was so dull, Cassius. Even though my father claims to work to protect magical animals, all I see him do is go around checking papers, while I don't even get to see some rare magical animals."

"It didn't stop there; he began asking a slew of questions to a cranky old woman who smelled foul; it was truly unbearable to even stay there for a moment, but my father..."

"Stop! Are you here just because you got bored of staying with your father?" Cassius asked to silence the chatterbox in front of him.

"Yes, if you want it to be simple." Cedric, with a low tone that appeared irksome due to his interpretation, he really wanted to air his grievances with Cassius, his only friend now.

"So, why are you still in the restaurant?" However, he immediately questioned, because his mood had changed when he noticed Cassius passing his favorite vanilla ice cream towards him.

"My mother went to Gringotts to get the golden galleons." Cassius replied, his lips twitching from the scene in front of him. While saying this, Cassius took an envelope from the book's pages and shook it in front of Cedric. "For this."

The symbol on the envelope depicted a lion, an eagle, a snake, and a beaver.

"Show me yours! I also received the letter today." Cedric snatched the letter from his grasp, opened the envelope, which was already torn along the edges, and drew the letter from within.

Cassius stared at his empty hand in a daze, for the letter made him reminisce about his previous life and how much things had changed in the past years.

Yes, he had been reborn.

In his previous life, he was just an ordinary teenager in his final year of high school, about to enter collage.

His grades were so good that he could almost get into great colleague with no problems. He also had a wonderful family who cared for and supported him throughout his life.

His previous family was also wealthy, so he had few worries and difficulties in his life.

He knew he had it pretty good in that life, compared to so many others.

Despite having a bright and promising future and a wonderful family. He always had a feeling or a question in his head.

Is this the life he truly desired?

Even though he was thinking that and yearning for something different and extraordinary, he quickly became pragmatic and continued his life.

But fate seemed to have other plans for him, as he returned from school and saw a flash of light from the corner of his eyes, followed by the sensation of his body being hit by something with extraordinary force.

Pain, excruciating pain, covered his body, and he felt weightless for a brief moment, as if he were flying.

Through the corner of his blurred vision, he saw a passenger bus that had stopped with a splash of blood on the front, and he could hear screams and screeches of tires all around him.

With it, the weightlessness vanished, and an intense headache erupted, causing him to groan.

He could hear a siren ringing and a woman sobbing in the final moments of his life.

Then everything went dark, the kind of darkness that leaves nothing but emptiness and desolation in its wake.

He died.

He knew at that moment that he had left his previous life full of regrets, and he had no idea how his family would cope with his loss.

It wasn't the end, as he thought. He didn't expect to be reborn like those stories.

However, he didn't get to meet a god or an Omnipotent entity before being reborn, and he didn't get any wishes either.

Just like that, he was reborn in a different world. It may have disappointed some, but it was nothing to him, for rebirth is a miracle in and of itself.

Soon, he realized what world he had been reborn into, a world of magic and mysteries that had never been fully explored in the original book and movies.

It was the Harry Potter universe.

He wasn't reborn as an orphan or a muggle; instead, he was reborn as Cassius Warrington, a half-blood and Slytherin student whose presence in the books and movies was almost non-existent, unless you count his appearance as a background character.

However, this was far more preferable than being born as a muggle wizard or an orphan with a shady past.

Then he began his new life in this extraordinary world, striving to live his life exactly as he desired.
