Chapter 4

Diary Entry #315

Dear Diary,

The trophy sitting on the desk in my room gave me a lot more joy than I was expecting. I have decided to enroll in a few more competitions, much to the delight of the instructor and my principal at school, as I was going to represent the school in a few academic competitions as well. Anyways, the finals were more or less the same. The quarter finals were finished in 15 seconds, when I decided to channel a little mana in my legs and dash straight at my opponent as soon as the whistle went off. Before he could react, I sucker punched him in the face, breaking a few teeth. Oops. The semi-finals were a little better. The opponent this time was an angry girl who seemed similar to the adversary I had faced earlier. Her anger seemed apparent as soon as the match started as she launched herself at me and started a flurry of combos which I had no trouble in blocking and dodging. I let her exhaust herself and waited for an opening, which I got exactly a few minutes later, where she overhit a punch and thus left herself open to me. I immediately dashed in closer to her and headbutted her with a little mana channeling, causing her to spurt blood from her nose like a fountain. Taking advantage of her disorientation I swept her off her feet and immediately punched her once more in the face, knocking her out. Ha. That was exhilarating. Punching people in the face will never get old.

The finals were the highlight of the tournament, as was apparent by the enthusiasm of the announcer and the cheering of the crowds. My opponent this time was a 15-year old who was grossly ripped and was a two-time champion of this tournament. He seemed like a giant to me, which in a way, he was. As soon as the match started, he rushed in like a bulldozer intending to end the match as soon as possible. I didn't let him do as he wished to and used maximum mana channeling to go toe to toe with him. Apparently, my maximum physical strength was a lot higher than his as after blocking a blow with my forearm, I felt nothing. Immediately, I swept his arm off and launched an uppercut with all my strength which took him a few metres of the stage and disoriented him mightily. Pressing my advantage, I launched a combo at him targeting his joints with a flurry of fast and strong blows. He kept on backpedaling and still couldn't manage to completely come to his senses. After a particularly well placed toe kick at his knee joint which resulted in him losing his balance, I roundhouse kicked him onto his knees followed by a dropkick straight to his face, knocking him out cold. The cheers that followed sounded like thunder to him and the adrenaline in my system refused to leave. That was the time I found out something about myself, I craved attention and liked beating others to prove my own skill and worth.

Diary Entry #330

Dear Diary,

By now I have managed to become a small-time celebrity by winning a lot of competitions, in various fields like Maths, Science, Athletics, MMA etc.. The prize monies have given me a satisfactory amount of money, from which I have paid my debts to the librarians, the director of the orphanage and my dojo instructor. Now my next plan is to earn some starter money to invest in companies I know will give me a tenfold or even a hundredfold returns. And I have turned to writing novels. With the help of the principal and the director of the orphanage, I have managed to contact a middle sized publishing house that have decided to offer to publish my novels, provided they are satisfactory. Huh, satisfactory? I'll give you something that will turn you into a large publishing house. I have decided to publish the works of Rick Riordan and Eoin Colfer, namely the Percy Jackson series and the Artemis Fowl series. I remember most of the plot, thankfully to my vastly improved eidectic memory (yes, I have started to remember stuff from my previous life clearly), and the editors will take care of the rest.

Diary Entry #331

Dear Diary,

The drafts I sent to the publishing house were very well received and I have signed a contract with them, with the help of a lawyer who is a close friend of the orphanage's director. Anyways, I am not worried regarding betrayals or stuff like that as I casted a modified version of the Confundus Charm on all of the involved parties. Using the Compelling Charm (yes, I know I have a bad naming sense), I have also sent the oldest kid in the orphanage, a 16-year old named Joss, to a banker whose address I got from the orphanage's director's phone book, with my documents which were laced with a delayed Compelling Charm to open an account in my name and do the required investments using the money in the companies I listed. The charms were just precautions but I always believed you could never be too careful. Anyways, the required formalities were completed efficiently and the first novel was about to be published, which was going to mark the beginning of my thick bank account. Life was looking good and all I had to do was wait a few more months for the arrival of Professor McGonagall...
