Chapter 21 - Since when there was a side effect?!

We've arrived, that took a while. We were running this entire time without using any teleportation, which surprised me considering teleportation would lessen the time coming back so much. I wonder why…

"Hey, Nee-san, why didn't we use teleportation to come back? It would have taken little time if we did…"

"Oh, about that… I might have depleted most of my magicules…"

"Wait, what?! How? You have one of the largest magicule capacities in the whole empire, how did you lose that many magicules?"

"That… I don't really know. Either I miscalculated on how many magicules per second the [Magic Jamming] uses or I used too many magicules fighting the dragons, I don't really know why."

That is really strange. As I said, she has one of the largest magicule capacities in the entire empire. Heck, she is only second to none in comparison to our mother who has undoubtedly the largest magicule capacity in the empire. It might be small compared to big shots like Demon Lords or any beings like that but it is still quite big.

Also, I've only noticed it now but how fit is my sister? We've been running this entire time and she doesn't seem too tired. My brother and I would be fine since this is quite normal for us but she doesn't seem to be too bad.

"Wait, can't you use Aniki's magicules or mine or the magicules in the air? There are plenty of ways to access magicules so what is going on?"

"That is also the problem, I can't seem to access any magicules whatsoever. I might need to check it out with our mother to figure out what happened.

And she can't access any magicules too? Now, this is extremely weird. Might as well do an analysis on these two later.

Come to think of it, I feel like I've seen this scene before. Where did I… Oh, oh. Oohhhh. I forgot, our parents. Yeah, they would definitely kill us or our sister the moment they found us like last time. No wonder she was nervous. Although, I'm not quite sure why dragging out the time would benefit her in any way but let's wait and see.

"The analysis of the individuals 'Fuyumi Tsukuyomi' and 'Miles Tsukuyomi' has been completed. Would you like to generate a list based on their current status?"

"Yes or No?"

'Um, maybe later. I might get a little busy this time because of what happened earlier so yeah. But can you tell me something else? I've been feeling kinda weird this entire time and I don't know why.'

"Answer. It is the side effect of using the [Unique Skill: Gluttony]."

'What? A side effect?! I've never heard of that!'

'Of course, you didn't. Hey, do you think you can just use skills that are part of the [21 Mythical Skills] series without any consequences whatsoever? I mean I get why you are confused considering this world is similar to that book you read in your previous world but I'm sure you already know that this world works somewhat different from the one you know.'

'Heck, even in that book that you read, some of the skills in the [Sins Series] or the [Virtue Series] have some pretty nasty side-effects when you use them like [Greed] and [Justice], but in this world, all of those skills will have some kind of side-effects no matter which one.'

'Great. So what are the side-effects of using [Gluttony]?'

"Answer. Due to you using the skill for the first time, all of the requirements have been met. From now on, you will have an insatiable hunger to devour anything. This desire is mostly being suppressed by [Mind Resistance] and [Heresy Resistance] but you will still feel some of its effects."

Woah, Woah. Now I have a constant hunger to eat something? I mean I don't really feel it that much but it is still pretty bad. Wait, I'm pretty sure I have more skills from the [Sins Series], if I use them, would I also get more side effects? That's pretty nasty, I wonder what would happen if I used [Wrath] or [Sloth]...

And wait, this skill of mine is part of the [Virtue/Commandment Series], so does that mean I have another side effect on top of hunger this entire time?!

'Hey, what is the side effect of using you?'

"Answer. Normally, it would only be a simple desire to acquire knowledge, however, due to the side-effect of [Gluttony], it is now the insatiable need to acquire every single knowledge in existence."

Oh, that doesn't seem to be too bad then. I mean, acquiring knowledge ain't too bad but it might be dangerous if I somehow hear about getting knowledge from somewhere dangerous, which would be bad since I would be forced to go there and get that knowledge due to the side effect, now that is scary. But overall, it is not too bad.

We entered the palace slowly and quietly as our sister said so as to not alert our parents. She is creeping me out here, I didn't do anything bad but it is making me feel guilty for some reason. After we managed to get into the magic classroom, my sister finally let out a sigh of relief thinking that everything is now fine until we noticed a presence outside the door.

It was a very familiar presence, it was our mother. The door aggressively opened as our mother kicked down the door and my sister hid immediately behind our backs. Wow, despite knowing my mother is quite strong, I didn't know she was strong enough to bust down a large and heavy door like nothing! And her face… she looks so menacing that it is creeping me the f*ck out. Yup, she is definitely mad.

"Where have the three of you been, hmmm?! We noticed some weird presence in the forest nearby and we have also gotten reports from explorers and adventurers about multiple herds of hostile dragons suddenly getting exploded midair and pierced with all kinds of high-grade magic from nowhere, may I ask where have you three been at that time?!!"

Yikes, she is extremely angry.

"Umm, Ooka-sama! We… umm… we went to the market! Yes, we went there and we bought and stuff and ate… yeah. We were definitely not close at all to those ice dragons that you have mentioned."

"Miles, I didn't say they were Ice Dragons."

Great, he just had to say that, well at least he tried.

"Oh, umm it was because we saw the dragons from afar, yes! We saw some blue and white scales on those dragons and that's why I said they were ice dragons."

"Oh, I know that you were the ones that fought it. After all, I know for a fact that even if you had some incredible detection skills, it is not enough to see what the exact colors of those dragons are and I also know that there are only a couple of people capable of using high-grade magic at once and are capable on defeating dragons. Three of which happens to be you guys…"

Yup, she knew. I mean, it was quite obvious. So all we could is one thing.

"We are so sorry, Ooka-san. Don't get mad at us…" I said with a cute voice. It is extremely cringe and I almost died in embarrassment but this is all I could do to stop her from getting angry. Unless I sacrifice one of my siblings to be blamed on… no, I promised I wouldn't do that again, hold your horses Tomo.

"Aww, I'm sorry too. Come here. I'm not blaming you since you are still young and just followed whatever your older siblings told you so you don't have to worry. As for them, well, let's just say we would have quite a long discussion. You may go back to your room to clean up while I take care of your siblings, hehehehe."

I did what I could and it failed, kinda. I didn't get scolded but it didn't save my siblings from experiencing a horrible fate. I was about to move when suddenly both of my siblings grabbed onto me and refused to let go. My mother glared at them signaling to let me go. And I left quietly while looking back at my siblings looking quite terrified about what was going to happen. Welp, may they rest in peace!

After I got cleaned up and such, I went to the dinner table where it was only me, my father, and my two younger siblings. Yup, I can just imagine that those three are still not done. I was just about to eat my food until I wondered how the side effect of [Gluttony] would affect my eating. Sure enough, I found out very quickly. I managed to eat so much food in a small amount of time and was still not satisfied in the slightest, holy crap. I quickly finished all of my food and left quickly before I gobble up all of the food on the table. Yup, this is a problem.
