277. Driving

Maurice had regular contact with the Walkers for the next few days, and was informed that among the human remains from the explosion were indeed those of Admiral Charon. Now, they could only hope that the deductions of Jace, Jane, Terrence and General Lambert were true and that Charon was indeed a creator.

Regarding the bunker site, the reconstruction was already in progress; zombie parts were cleaned up, the gravel was cleared, and a new shipping container had been delivered. Even the electric poles would be soon repaired.

Maurice only had to wait for Lance to wake up. He drifted in and out of consciousness for days. Every time he was dazedly awake, he grabbed Maurice's collar and demanded to know how Paige was, only obediently laying back down when he heard of her well-being.

Although Maurice didn't know whether this would be the case, he was sure of it as long as the bunker wasn't destroyed, which it clearly was not.
