Irene nodded at professor Agase in return when she realized what the professor was thinking.

it was like hitting two birds at one stone. with her living at the agency it "will" be much more easier and will lessen the suspicion of "him" being alive dramatically. Ran's father might not be the best detective he could ask for, but still a detective nevertheless.

while the two females are already in the car, the detective failed to notice them several minutes later

Ran noticed how tense Irene was and asked why she wanted to go with her dad.

In truth she was thinking of a reason to say.

the coppers said some men in black killed my otou-san. I know that my otou-san is dead. he's not in America recovering from his injuries nor will he come back. oji-chan said his in a hospital to not hurt me. but I overheard the adults conversation in the phone yesterday. Irene said looking sad and teary but still trying to look tough.

hey, hey Ran-san? is this what it feels like to have a kaa-san and a ne-chan? Irene asked Ran. of course she knot what it feels like to have a oka-san but not a ne-chan. besides Ran knows that "Irene's" mother died giving birth, so this is a valid question.

I don't know what it's like to have a nee-chan but... having a kaa-san is like having someone you know loves you all the time, and watches over you and that.
