I should have known better

And maybe put it in a letter

But some words can never say enough

I tried to leave the past behind us

But it's always there to remind us

Sometimes we have to decide when it's too much

Well, I'm just another broken fool

Looking for a way as a general rule

To get back to those days of me and you

Because always is not forever

Just as never is not the end

I will always love you, that's a given

No matter where you are or have been

I'd heard you found a new love

I hope in my heart it's a true love

Just like we used to be way back when

When always seemed like it was forever
