Doing Taekwondo spinning kicks for a guy who changes the weather with one punch is just pointless and inefficient. Yes, young quirk-centric characters (like Todoroki at the beginning) neglect CQC, but the world itself definitely hasn't abandoned martial arts. Also, I don't really understand this craving for martial arts if he wants to become a hero. Combat sports teach you to win on points or score a knockout. Heroes have a different task—to detain and neutralize, and often in a crowd of civilians. A boxer will just beat the enemy up instead of restraining them.
