Had to stop with this one early. There are shifts with narrative continuity in the first few chapters I read. MC's declaration to rack up a body count because he’s depressed is a bit worrying too, giving off stealth smut or harem vibes. There are good things to be had though: The mechanism by which Mirio ends up in the MCU is pretty unique to me, the grammar is pretty good and the concept overall has good bones. Its just that this fic is not my cup of tea.
Going by the chapters accessible without the app, this is 110% a typical cultivation story. It has the mysterious treasure, the crippled young master, the mysterious treasure, the face slapping, the shear arrogance of the MC, the fatty named Fatty, the fawning females, the never-ending parade of Young Masters to be slapped and even the bad faith engagement that gets broken and the ex gets humiliated probably to the death. I’m expecting the highborn young mistress from the upper realms and her jealous suitor to make their appearance. Truly nothing new, but if you are a fan of the genre, you'll find this comfortably familiar. Writing Quality ★★★★ Stability of Updates ★★★ Story Development ★★★ Character Design ★★ World Background ★★
Premise was interesting, though it is an easy-come power fantasy. MC has no conflict or roadblocks to being OP. Apparently, its a harem with MC intending to master 'the art of being a playa'. Not my cup of tea. GPTness comes through heavily in the first few chapters I read, but as a result, the grammar is good. Continuity is also coherent. It seems to be heading that way in all but name. The story is putting more effort into Tenten, Ino and Kurenai than it did for MC's sage powerup. Don't know about future chapters (I stopped at 11), but I'm not putting more time into an untagged harem.
Yes, it's an untagged harem so don't invest the time if you aren't into that. Writing Quality ★★★ Stability of Updates ★★ Story Development ★★ Character Design ★★ World Background ★★★
Guess I'll be letting myself off here. It's just getting too weird, not that it matters as this seems to be dropped anyway
Writing Quality: A bit GPTy, otherwise technically ok. Stability of Updates: Dropped or on hiatus Story Development: MC lacks clear motivation and all agency is with the system. Went from 0-WAR in under 30 chapters. Its progressing through events, but there is no real narrative through line outside of system objectives. The OG MC's fate is apparently in flux as they may end up as Pokémon to collect for system rewards. Character Design: Serviceable, but could be improved. Some characters are off model though. The Heel Turn/reveal came out of nowhere. It could have been done better
The grammar, constantly shifting pronouns for people and items and increasingly silly interpersonal situations MC Kira is put into makes this a hard read. Maybe it’s part of the brand of humour author is going for but I feel it could have been executed better. Kira also seems to be intellectually stunted or regressed as there is no real growth or maturity to evidence his cumulative lives. The universe itself feels AU, like halfway between canon and Obito’s trial infinite tsukiyomi dream world. That isn’t necessarily bad, but readers may have their expectations let down if, like me, they expected something else. The overall concept is not bad as far as these go, and I do appreciate the intent to explore areas outside of Konoha and the elemental nations, even if the setup feels derivative of cultivation web novels. Grammarly or a very light, constrained touch from ChatGPT could elevate this immensely, but given the apparent dropped status of the story, it’s a moot point.
I was so close to dropping this in the beginning as it went into groomer territory real quick, but given its title and how short it was, I held out hope there’d be a twist to the formula. And for a second there, after the gimmick of MC’s power was revealed, I really felt this story would subvert the typical tropes, putting the MC through Izanami like loops until he was a worthy hero. I expected too much! Groomer decided to groom harder! Overall concept was fresh to me, promising even, but it soon fell into typical patterns with MCs character growth seemingly being thrown away.
