@author - just a heads up, you use this phrase way too frequently. If you want to be colorful in your use of metaphor and such, you need to throw a little variety in there so you don't fall into this trap.

I'm trying to figure out what is meant here. does it mean that if you don't include the loan for the house? In other words, not including the mortgage, their assets are worth $10 million and if you do count the loan it would be less than 10 million? it's not that big of a point, but the way this paragraph is written doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm probably missing something.
